Class Action News: Biggest Settlements and 2026 Claim Deadlines

Several of the largest class action settlements in U.S. history are distributing money to consumers through 2026, with claim deadlines stretching from June through the fall. If you shopped on Amazon Prime, held a Capital One 360 Savings account, were an Xfinity customer during the 2023 breach, or bought a recent iPhone, you may already be eligible for a payment. Filing is free, and in some cases no claim form is required at all.

The Biggest Settlements Paying Out Now

Eligible consumers who paid for Prime between mid-2019 and mid-2025 may receive up to $51, and many payouts are being distributed automatically. The claims deadline is July 21, 2026.1FTC. Beyond the headline cases, dozens of smaller settlements have claim windows open through mid-to-late 2026. Check these if any apply to you:

Data Breach Settlements Are Everywhere

Data breach class actions are one of the fastest-growing categories. Over 1,800 were filed in 2025, a 25 percent increase over 2024 and more than triple the volume seen in 2022.10Duane Morris LLP. Duane Morris Class Action Review 2026 That pace has continued into 2026. If you have received a breach notification letter in the past few years, there is a good chance a settlement is either open or coming.

Recent settlements include $35 million for a Labcorp breach linked to the American Medical Collection Agency, $17.5 million for 700Credit, $10.5 million for Lemonade, $8.2 million for LastPass’s 2022 breach, and $7.5 million for the law firm Thompson Coburn.9ClassAction.org. How to File a Claim and Get Paid

Most class actions are “opt-out” lawsuits, which means eligible people are automatically included. When a settlement is reached, class members usually need to file a claim form by a specific deadline to receive payment. Notification typically arrives by mail or email, though some settlements rely on media notices or website postings.11ClassAction.org. How to Join a Class Action

A few things worth knowing before you file:

  • Filing is free. Attorney fees are deducted from the overall settlement fund, not from your payment.
  • Documentation gets you more. Receipts, account statements, or breach notification letters usually qualify you for higher compensation. Many settlements also offer a flat “alternative cash payment” for people who no longer have records.
  • Some payments are automatic. Capital One’s 360 Savings settlement, for example, requires no claim form. The Amazon Prime settlement is distributing many payouts automatically as well.
  • Accepting settles the claim. Filing a claim generally waives your right to sue the defendant separately over the same allegations. If you want to preserve that right, you have to affirmatively opt out by the deadline stated in the notice.11ClassAction.org. How to Join a Class Action
  • Watch for scams. Legitimate settlement administrators will not ask for payment or for a full Social Security number by email. Always confirm the URL matches the one in your official notice.

Two boundaries worth noting. First, the multibillion-dollar litigation in the news over talcum powder, Ozempic and other GLP-1 drugs, PFAS drinking water, Camp Lejeune, and social media harms to students involves personal injury or institutional claimants, not open consumer settlements you can join by filling out a form. Those cases generally require working with an attorney and meeting specific injury or exposure criteria. Second, filing a claim you are not eligible for can be treated as fraud, so read the class definition carefully before submitting.

Where to Check for New Settlements

Because notification letters get lost or thrown out, the simplest way to find out whether you qualify for a payment you never heard about is to check a settlement tracker every few months.
