If you filed a claim and are wondering about class action settlement checks mailed in 2025, the answer depends entirely on which case you’re in. Several large settlements finished paying claimants during 2025, one major distribution is running through mid-2026, at least one is frozen in bankruptcy, and the rest are still working through appeals or claim review. The single most useful step for any waiting claimant is the same: find your case’s settlement administrator and contact them directly.
Settlements That Finished Paying in 2025
Four of the highest-profile cases completed their main distributions during 2025. If you filed in one of these and never received anything, the window to fix that is closing.
T-Mobile 2021 data breach ($350 million). Payments to valid claimants began going out in May 2025 and are complete. Claimants whose electronic payments failed were emailed again in November 2025. If you filed a claim and never got paid, you must contact the administrator, Kroll, by March 31, 2026 to request a reissue.1T-Mobile Settlement. T-Mobile Data Breach Settlement2Keller Rohrback. Facebook user privacy ($725 million). First-round checks averaging $29.43 were mailed in September 2025. A second distribution funded by uncashed first-round checks started June 9, 2026, going out in batches over four weeks. Only claimants who successfully cashed the first check qualify for the second, and eligible people are being notified by email three to four days before payment issues. The second payment will be smaller than the first.3CBS News. Facebook User Privacy Settlement Second Check4NBC Chicago. Some Users May Get a Second Facebook Settlement Check
Equifax data breach (up to $425 million). Final payments went out between November and December 2024, including a pro-rata second round funded by leftover money. Those second-round amounts were generally under $40 and arrived as online prepaid debit cards valid for two years. Free identity restoration services are still available through January 2029, and U.S. consumers can pull seven free Equifax credit reports per year through 2026.5Equifax. Amazon Prime / FTC ($2.5 billion). The FTC’s settlement with Amazon over Prime enrollment and cancellation practices produced automatic refunds of up to $51 per eligible consumer in November and December 2025. A separate claims process opened in late December 2025 for consumers who used between three and ten Prime benefits in a 12-month period; those payments are expected in late 2026.7FTC. The Big Distribution Running Right Now
The Blue Cross Blue Shield antitrust settlement is the largest case actively paying claimants. Of the $2.67 billion fund, about $1.9 billion is set aside for subscriber reimbursements. The administrator, JND Legal Administration, started sending payments on or about May 11, 2026. Roughly 7.8 million of the more than 8.4 million claims submitted were approved. Payments are going out by check, PayPal, Venmo, or electronic debit card.
How much you get depends on your calculated claim amount. Claims of $5 or less get nothing in the initial round. Claims under $200 are paid in full. Claims of $200 or more receive 90 percent upfront, with the remaining 10 percent held for a second distribution.9Claim Depot. A Settlement That Is Frozen
If you filed in the 23andMe data breach case and are wondering why nothing has arrived, the money is stuck. The settlement, valued between $30 million and $50 million, received final court approval on January 30, 2026, but payments are on hold because the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2025 and rebranded as “Chrome.” No funds will be distributed until the bankruptcy reconciliation process is resolved, and the administrator, Kroll, has warned that this could take several months or longer. The benefit tiers themselves remain: up to $10,000 for extraordinary claims, up to $165 for health information claims, and an estimated $100 in statutory cash for eligible residents of Alaska, California, Illinois, or Oregon.1123andMe Data Settlement. Why Payments Take So Long After Final Approval
There is no single timeline. Once a court grants final approval, the appeals clock starts. In federal court, that window is generally 30 days; in state court, typically 60 days. If no appeal is filed, payments usually go out about 30 days after the window closes. An appeal can push everything back several months to a year or more.13Avvo. Even without an appeal, the administrator has to review every claim, flag deficient ones, wait for corrections, and get the final allocation approved. High claim volumes and processing errors add time. T-Mobile is a useful example: final order in January 2025, but payments didn’t start until May 2025.
What to Do If Your Check Never Arrived
Contact the Settlement Administrator
The administrator is the only entity that can check the status of your payment, reissue a lost check, or update your address. Each settlement has its own, and there is no shared portal covering multiple cases. The administrator’s contact information lives on that case’s official settlement website, which you can find by searching the lawsuit name.14ClassAction.org. Class Action FAQs All About Settlements
Kroll handles the T-Mobile, 23andMe, and Comcast settlements, among many others; Epiq is another major administrator. Both build a dedicated website for each case they manage.15Kroll. Settlement Administration Cases16Epiq. Class Action Administration
Check the Expiration Date on Your Check
Settlement checks don’t stay valid indefinitely. The expiration period varies, but common windows are 90, 120, or 180 days from the mailing date. A model settlement agreement from the Los Angeles Superior Court requires checks to remain valid for at least 180 days.17Law Insider. Expiration of Settlement Checks If you missed the window, you may still be able to ask the administrator for a replacement before the case closes out, but it isn’t guaranteed.
What Happens to Uncashed Funds
Uncashed money doesn’t just disappear. Depending on the settlement agreement and court orders, it’s handled one of four ways: redistributed pro rata to claimants who did cash their checks (the Facebook second round is doing this), donated to a court-approved nonprofit through a cy pres award, returned to the defendant, or turned over to a state’s unclaimed property fund. The American Law Institute recommends courts prioritize redistribution to existing claimants before other options.18Duke University Judicial Studies. Cy Pres in Class Action Settlements
Once funds revert, there may be no way to get the money reissued. Settlement agreements are built to close out, and keeping bank accounts and staff open indefinitely costs money. Cash your check promptly.19Avvo. I Received Money From a Class Action Lawsuit But the Check
Watch Out for Settlement Scams
The volume of legitimate payments has drawn scammers sending fake notices and counterfeit checks. A few rules separate real from fake.
- No real settlement asks you to pay to get paid. Any notice demanding an “administrative fee,” “processing fee,” or any upfront payment is a scam. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has said so explicitly.20CFPB. Got a Check in the Mail From the CFPB Heres How to Tell if Its Legit

- Verify independently. Don’t click links in an unsolicited email or text. Search the case name through a news outlet or go straight to the official settlement website.
