Condor Flight Compensation Claim Form (EU261): Filing, Amounts, and Deadlines

Condor’s EU 261 compensation claim form is on the airline’s website at condor.com/us/help-contact/contact/complaint-form-eu261.jsp, and you use it to claim €250 to €600 for a long delay, cancellation, or denied boarding on a Condor flight.1Condor. Complaint Form EU261 You’ll need your booking number, flight number, and passenger names exactly as they appear on your booking confirmation. Condor commits to acknowledging written complaints within 30 days and giving a substantive response within 60 days of receipt.2Condor. Customer Service Plan

What to Gather Before You Open the Form

Have everything ready in one place so you can finish in a single sitting. Mismatched details are the quickest way to get a claim kicked back.

  • Your booking number, copied from your confirmation email exactly as shown.1Condor. Complaint Form EU261
  • The flight number. Condor flights carry the prefix DE followed by a number, for example DE 2050. Check your confirmation or boarding pass.
  • Passenger names as they appear on the booking, not nicknames or married names added later.
  • Flight date, departure and arrival airports, and the scheduled versus actual arrival times.
  • A working email address and phone number.
  • Your IBAN and SWIFT/BIC codes if you want payment by bank transfer.
  • Receipts for meals, ground transport, or hotel costs you paid during the disruption. Condor is required to reimburse reasonable out-of-pocket expenses, but only against documentation.3European Union. Air Passenger Rights

If you’re claiming for other passengers on the same booking, Condor requires a signed power of attorney from each person. A declaration-of-assignment form is available to download from the same page as the claim form.1Condor. Complaint Form EU261

Submitting the Form

Open condor.com/us/help-contact/contact/complaint-form-eu261.jsp and work through the fields. A drop-down menu asks you to identify the type of disruption: delay, cancellation, or denied boarding. Enter your flight and passenger information exactly as it appears on the original booking confirmation before submitting.

Condor sends a confirmation email acknowledging receipt. Save it, along with any case reference number, in case you need to follow up or escalate later. Under the airline’s customer service plan, you should hear back with a substantive response within 60 days.2Condor. Customer Service Plan

When You Qualify to File

Three situations trigger a right to compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004:

  • A delay that gets you to your final destination more than three hours after the scheduled arrival time. Arrival is measured from the moment at least one aircraft door opens, not when the wheels touch down.5Mondaq. A European Common Standard for the Calculation of the Delay of Passenger Flights
  • A cancellation the airline told you about less than 14 days before departure.3European Union. Air Passenger Rights
  • Denied boarding on an overbooked flight when you held a valid ticket and reached the gate on time.

Condor, as a German carrier, is covered by EU 261 on essentially all its flights, whether they depart from the EU or arrive there from outside.3European Union. Air Passenger Rights Connecting flights booked as a single reservation are treated as one journey when the first leg leaves an EU airport, so a missed connection outside the EU still counts if you land more than three hours late.6Bott and Co Solicitors Ltd. Missed Connecting Flight Compensation

Condor can refuse compensation if it proves the disruption came from extraordinary circumstances it couldn’t have avoided with all reasonable measures. Severe weather, air traffic control restrictions, security threats, and political instability typically qualify.3European Union. Air Passenger Rights Mechanical breakdowns and crew scheduling problems generally do not. European courts have consistently held that technical defects are part of ordinary airline operations. If Condor invokes the defense without identifying what actually happened, push back.

How Much Condor Owes

Article 7 of the regulation sets fixed amounts based on the great circle distance between the departure airport and the final destination:7European Union. Regulation (EC) No 261/2004

  • €250 for flights of 1,500 km or less.
  • €400 for intra-EU flights over 1,500 km and all other flights between 1,500 and 3,500 km.
  • €600 for flights over 3,500 km.

Condor can cut these amounts by 50% if it reroutes you and you arrive with only a limited delay: two hours or less on short flights, three hours or less on medium flights, and four hours or less on long-haul.3European Union. Air Passenger Rights Payment must be in cash or by electronic bank transfer under Article 7(3). Vouchers are only permitted if you specifically agree to them, so don’t accept a voucher offer if you’d rather have the money.7European Union. Regulation (EC) No 261/2004

If You Were Downgraded

Getting moved to a lower class of service is handled separately. Instead of the flat compensation above, you’re owed a percentage refund of the airfare (excluding taxes and fees):

  • 30% on flights of 1,500 km or less.
  • 50% on intra-EU flights over 1,500 km and other flights between 1,500 and 3,500 km.
  • 75% on flights over 3,500 km.

Condor has to pay downgrade refunds within seven days.8Agency for Passenger Rights (apf). Downgrade Flight

Care and Expenses While You Wait

Separate from the compensation itself, Condor owes you assistance at the airport while a disruption unfolds. This “right to care” kicks in at:3European Union. Air Passenger Rights

  • Two hours of delay on flights of 1,500 km or less.
  • Three hours on intra-EU flights over 1,500 km and other flights of 1,500 to 3,500 km.
  • Four hours on flights over 3,500 km.

At those thresholds, Condor should provide meals, refreshments, and two phone calls or emails. If your rebooked departure isn’t until the next day, the airline also owes hotel accommodation and transport between the airport and hotel.

When Condor doesn’t organize this on its own, pay for what you reasonably need, keep every receipt, and include those costs in your claim. Reasonable is the operative word. A standard hotel near the airport is fine; a luxury resort across town is not.

If Condor Denies or Ignores Your Claim

A generic “extraordinary circumstances” letter that doesn’t name the actual event, or silence past the 60-day window, doesn’t have to be the end of it.

File with the German Arbitration Board

The Schlichtungsstelle Reise und Verkehr handles travel and transport disputes in Germany. Filing is free for passengers, and the board reports an amicable resolution rate of 80 to 90%.9Schlichtungsstelle Reise und Verkehr. Consumer Arbitration Board Submit through its online portal once Condor has given an unsatisfactory response or missed its deadline. The board either brokers a direct agreement or issues a recommendation after its lawyers review the file.

Complain to the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt

The Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA) is the German National Enforcement Body for EU 261. It can fine Condor for violations, but it cannot order the airline to pay your individual compensation. For that, arbitration or court action is the route.10Serviceportal Rheinland-Pfalz. Reporting a Flight Cancellation, Delay, Denied Boarding, Upgrade or Downgrade To file with the LBA, you must have already complained to Condor in writing and given reasonable time for a response. Complaints have to be filed within two years of the flight date, and the LBA takes roughly three to six months to process a case. A full list of enforcement bodies for other EU countries is published by the European Commission.11European Commission. National Enforcement Bodies (NEB)

Use a No-Win-No-Fee Claim Company

Third-party claim agencies will handle the case for you, usually charging 25 to 35% of the compensation, with an additional 15 to 20% if court action is needed. In contested cases total fees can reach 50% of the payout. You hand off the work and the risk; you keep less of the money. For a €600 claim Condor is clearly stalling on, that trade can make sense. For a straightforward delay with strong documentation, filing directly costs nothing.

How Long You Have to File

Under German law, flight compensation claims can be filed until the end of the third calendar year after the disruption. A delay in 2026 gives you until December 31, 2029. Even so, filing sooner is easier: flight records are more accessible and your own memory of what happened is fresher. LBA complaints have a shorter two-year window from the flight date.10Serviceportal Rheinland-Pfalz. Reporting a Flight Cancellation, Delay, Denied Boarding, Upgrade or Downgrade
