Dr. Oumair Aejaz: 31 Counts, Sentencing, and $141M Settlement

Dr. Oumair Aejaz is a former Michigan internal medicine physician who was sentenced on December 2, 2025, to 35 to 60 years in prison after pleading no contest to 31 counts of sexual misconduct, including secretly recording women and children for at least six years at his home, at a Rochester Hills swim school, and at hospitals where he worked as a contract doctor. A related class action against Henry Ford Health settled for $141 million on behalf of more than 8,200 former patients.

How the Recordings Were Discovered

The case began with a tip from Aejaz’s own wife. On August 7, 2024, she contacted the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office after finding recordings her husband had made of her, their two minor children, and female relatives inside their home, along with footage of people undressing at the Goldfish Swim School in Rochester Hills.1Oakland County. Detectives raided the home the next day and seized six computers, four cellphones, and 15 external storage devices.2NBC News. Doctor Charged With Filming Women, Children With Hidden Cameras A single device held more than 13,000 videos, and investigators estimated it would take at least six months to review everything. The material spanned at least six years and included footage from hospital rooms, changing areas, closets, and bathrooms. Some recordings captured sexual encounters with hospital patients who were asleep or unconscious. Victims ranged in age from as young as two years old to adult women. Sheriff Michael Bouchard said, “From a 2-year-old boy to a grown woman, no one was immune.”3Upper Michigan’s Source. Doctor Accused of Recording Women, Children With Hidden Cameras

The 31 Counts and No-Contest Plea

Charges started at 10 counts in Oakland County and grew as detectives worked through the seized devices. On October 9, 2025, Aejaz pleaded no contest to all 31 counts in Oakland County Sixth Circuit Court. Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald said her office offered no plea deal and no leniency, and that the plea spared victims from having to testify.4Oakland County. Oumair Aejaz Pleads No Contest to 31 Counts5WXYZ. Other Lawsuits

In October 2025, three women filed individual lawsuits against Henry Ford Macomb Hospital alleging Aejaz sexually assaulted and recorded them while they were patients. Represented by Matthew Piccirilli and Paul Huebner of Fieger Law, the plaintiffs said they “felt that their rights were not adequately represented” in the class action.12CBS News Detroit. A separate class action was filed April 29, 2026, against the Goldfish Swim School in Rochester Hills by plaintiff Morgan Dean. The suit alleged negligence and inadequate security, saying the school failed to screen people entering the facility and had no policies to oversee changing rooms where Aejaz used a hidden camera. Investigators estimated 60 to 100 recordings came from that location. The suit sought a jury trial and security reforms across all Goldfish locations. The swim school declined to comment, citing pending litigation.14Click on Detroit. Rochester Area Swim School Faces Lawsuit After Doctor Secretly Recorded Children, Parents in Changing Room

Henry Ford Health described Aejaz as a contract physician, not a direct employee, and said it was “assessing the allegations” and cooperating fully with law enforcement. Law enforcement conducted a security assessment of the facility after the recordings surfaced, and Henry Ford ran its own internal sweep. According to the hospital, neither sweep found unauthorized cameras or recording devices.
