Enterprise toll charges come in two parts: the toll itself, billed at the highest undiscounted rate the toll authority sets, plus a TollPass Convenience Charge of $4.95 to $5.35 for each day you incur a toll, capped at $34.65 per rental.1Tollpass. FAQS – Enterprise Toll Receipt Lookup Enrollment in the TollPass program is automatic the moment you pass through an electronic toll lane, and the charges usually land on your card four to six weeks after you return the vehicle. You can avoid the convenience fee, but only if you plan ahead.
What Enterprise Bills You For
Two line items show up. The first is the TollPass Convenience Charge, a daily fee between $4.95 and $5.35 that applies only on days you actually incur a toll. Once you hit $34.65 in convenience charges during a single rental, the fee stops accumulating regardless of how many more toll days follow.1Tollpass. FAQS – Enterprise Toll Receipt Lookup
The second item is the tolls themselves. Enterprise bills each crossing at the higher of the video toll rate, the cash toll rate, or the highest undiscounted rate published by the toll authority.2Enterprise Rent-A-Car. What Are Other Areas Covered by TollPass Service You do not get the discounted transponder rate that local commuters pay, even when the rental vehicle has a working transponder mounted on the windshield. On heavily tolled corridors, that spread between discounted and undiscounted rates can double what you would otherwise pay.
Both amounts hit the credit or debit card on file. They arrive separately from your base rental bill, typically four to six weeks after return, once the toll authority transmits its data to Enterprise’s billing partner.1Tollpass. FAQS – Enterprise Toll Receipt Lookup Some toll authorities take longer, so a charge posting two months out is not unusual.
How You Get Enrolled Without Signing Up
You do not need to activate TollPass at the counter, and the rental agent will not necessarily mention it. The first electronic toll crossing enrolls you automatically for that rental period.1Tollpass. FAQS – Enterprise Toll Receipt Lookup On cashless roads there is no booth and no visual cue that you just triggered a fee, which is how many renters end up paying convenience charges they did not know were possible.
How to Avoid the Convenience Fee
TollPass is optional. Enterprise recognizes several alternatives, though which ones work depends on where you are driving.1Tollpass. FAQS – Enterprise Toll Receipt Lookup
- Bring your own transponder. A personal E-ZPass, SunPass, FasTrak, or equivalent device mounted in the rental means no TCC. Contact your transponder issuer before the trip to add the rental’s license plate to your account, since registration rules differ by toll authority.
- Pay cash at staffed booths. Keep the receipts. Many toll roads are now fully cashless, so this only works on some routes.
- Pay the toll authority directly. Some operators accept online payment before or shortly after a crossing. Golden Gate Bridge tolls can be settled within 48 hours through the Bay Area FasTrak site, and certain Southern California toll roads let you pre-register a rental vehicle before you drive.
- Route around tolls. Navigation apps can steer you off toll roads entirely, which is often the simplest answer for a short trip.
If the rental already has a fleet transponder on the windshield, you need to keep both devices from being read at once. Many Enterprise vehicles house the transponder inside a hinged enclosure; keeping it closed deactivates the fleet device so only your personal transponder registers. If there is no enclosure, mount your own device closer to the windshield surface and call the toll authority about the risk of duplicate reads. Registering the rental’s plate on your personal toll account before you drive gives you a paper trail if a duplicate charge shows up later.
Where TollPass Applies
TollPass covers electronic toll roads in 26 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, plus the 407 ETR in Ontario.3Tollpass. Coverage – Tollpass Coverage areas change, so check the map at enterprise.tollpassgo.com if you are renting outside the main toll corridors or driving a newly opened road.
Outside the covered network, TollPass does not shield you. The toll authority sends a violation notice to Enterprise, which forwards it to you with an administrative fee attached. That process is separate from the convenience charge and often costs more.
Looking Up Your Toll Statement
Toll receipts live at enterprise.tollpassgo.com. Pull your statement using your last name and the contract or rental agreement number.4Enterprise Rent-A-Car. How Can I Get a Copy of My Citation or Toll Receipt If you do not have the contract number handy, the site also accepts your last name plus the first six and last four digits of the card you used. The rental agreement number is printed on both the paper and digital versions of your contract.
Give it time. Statements do not populate right after return; the same four-to-six-week window that governs billing governs the lookup tool.1Tollpass. FAQS – Enterprise Toll Receipt Lookup Once available, the statement lists each toll location, the toll amount, and the convenience fee, and you can download a receipt for reimbursement.
How to Dispute a Charge
Enterprise handles formal disputes through its Proof of Payment Appeal form.5Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Proof of Payment Appeal You submit your name, email, the citation or invoice number, and the charge date, along with evidence: a bank or card statement showing you already paid the toll authority, a receipt from the agency, or documentation of a clerical error. A screenshot of a zero balance on the toll agency’s site is not accepted.
For questions short of a formal dispute, call Highway Toll Administration at 866-285-6050. HTA is the third-party company that processes Enterprise’s toll billing and is not a government toll agency.6Highway Toll Administration. HTA – Toll and Violation Management Solutions for Fleets and Car Rentals Companies Duplicate charges for the same crossing, charges dated outside your rental period, and tolls from roads you never drove are the situations most worth flagging.
Your leverage in any dispute is documentation. If you ran a personal transponder, download the transaction history showing the same crossing on your account. If you paid cash, the booth receipt is the record. Without independent proof, reversing a charge is difficult, because Enterprise and HTA treat the toll authority’s data as the default truth.
