The Ford Gold Certified warranty is the top coverage tier under Ford Blue Advantage, pairing a 12-month/12,000-mile comprehensive limited warranty with a 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty on eligible certified pre-owned Fords. Eligibility is limited to Ford-brand vehicles no more than six years old with fewer than 80,000 miles. Each repair visit carries a $100 deductible, waived to $0 if the original new-vehicle warranty is still in force.1Ford.com. Ford Blue Advantage Gold Certified Limited Warranty
What the 12-Month Comprehensive Warranty Covers
The comprehensive portion runs 12 months or 12,000 miles from the date of certified sale, whichever comes first. It works on an exclusion basis: if a component fails and isn’t on the exclusion list, the repair is covered.1Ford.com. Ford Blue Advantage Gold Certified Limited Warranty
Ford’s warranty document lists specific covered systems:
- Air conditioning and heating: compressor, condenser, evaporator, and heater core assembly.
- Steering: power steering pumps, steering gear housings, and electronic power-assisted steering components.
- Brakes: anti-lock brake modules, master cylinders, calipers, and power brake boosters (pads, shoes, rotors, and drums are excluded as wear items).
- Suspension: ball joints, control arms, MacPherson struts, and stabilizer bars.
- Electrical: alternators, fuel pumps, starter motors, power mirrors, and wiring harnesses.
- Audio and technology: radio, speakers, premium sound amplifiers, rear entertainment systems, navigation, SYNC, reverse cameras, and parking-assist sensors.
- Safety: airbag modules, sensors, seat belt assemblies, and passive restraint modules.
- Emissions: EGR components, oxygen sensors, PCV assemblies, and variable camshaft timing phasers.
- Engine and transmission: all internal lubricated parts, cylinder blocks and heads, fuel injectors, turbocharger and supercharger units, torque converters, and transmission modules.
Ford notes that this is a partial list. Items that also fall under the powertrain warranty are covered for the longer powertrain term instead.2Gorno Ford. Gold Certified Brochure
What the 7-Year Powertrain Warranty Covers
Powertrain coverage lasts seven years or 100,000 miles from the vehicle’s original new-vehicle warranty start date, not the certified sale date. A three-year-old Gold Certified vehicle would have roughly four years of powertrain coverage remaining at purchase.3Ford.com. Ford Blue Advantage Gold Certified Limited Warranty
Covered powertrain components include:
- Engine: cylinder block and internal lubricated parts, cylinder heads, seals and gaskets, intake and exhaust manifolds, factory-installed turbocharger or supercharger units, timing chain or belt, flywheel, valve covers, oil pan and oil pump, water pump, and thermostat. Fuel-injection components are excluded from powertrain coverage.
- Transmission: transmission case and all internal parts, torque converter, transfer case and all internal parts, and the transmission control module.
- Front-wheel drive: front drive housing and rear axle housing for AWD vehicles, universal and constant velocity joints, axle shafts, locking rings on four-wheel-drive vehicles, and automatic front locking hubs.
- Rear-wheel drive: drive axle housings and front axle housing for 4×4 vehicles, universal and constant velocity joints, axle shafts, and driveshafts.
What Is Not Covered
The exclusion list is long, and it matters as much as the coverage list.
- Wear items: batteries and cables, brake pads, shoes, rotors and drums, exhaust components including catalytic converters, and software upgrades.
- Scheduled maintenance: oil changes, tune-ups, wheel alignment, and wheel balancing.
- Cosmetic and body parts: paint, glass, mirrors, bumpers, sheet metal, weather strips, convertible tops, carpets, upholstery, trim, knobs, and wheels or tires.
- Lighting: incandescent, halogen, HID, and LED lamp assemblies, including moisture or fogging issues.
- Suspension exception: coil-over shocks are excluded unless they are MacPherson-style strut components.
- Environmental and external damage: hail, flooding, salt corrosion, tree sap, fire, road hazards, collisions, theft, and vandalism.
Several conditions void coverage. Aftermarket performance parts (lift kits, oversized tires, non-factory turbochargers, or nitrous oxide systems) disqualify related repairs. Racing, competitive driving, off-road use, overloading, and continued driving after an obvious mechanical failure also fall outside the warranty. Vehicles with branded titles, altered odometers, or those manufactured for markets outside the United States and Canada are ineligible in the first place, along with certain high-performance models: Ford GT, Shelby, Saleen, and most Roush-modified vehicles.4Ford.com. How Repairs Work
Every repair visit carries a $100 deductible. If the vehicle still has coverage under Ford’s original new-vehicle limited warranty, the deductible is $0.5Ford.com. Ford Blue Advantage Gold Certified Limited Warranty
Warranty work must be done at the selling dealer or any Ford franchised dealership in the United States. There’s one exception: if every Ford or Lincoln dealership within 25 miles is closed, an outside facility may perform emergency repairs. Ford can inspect the vehicle before authorizing service, and owners may be asked for maintenance records when a failure appears related to neglected upkeep.6Ford.com. Ford Blue Advantage Gold Certified Limited Warranty
When a covered repair keeps the vehicle overnight, the warranty reimburses rental costs up to $40 per day including tax, for up to five days or until the repair is finished. Mileage surcharges, drop-off fees, insurance, and gasoline are not reimbursed. If needed parts are unavailable, Ford may offer a cash settlement equal to the repair cost instead.7Ford.com. Roadside Assistance and Travel Benefits
Gold Certified vehicles come with seven years of 24/7 roadside assistance through Cross Country Motor Club. Services include flat-tire changes, battery jump starts, lockout assistance, fuel delivery, and towing up to $100.8Ford.com. Ford Blue Advantage Gold Certified Limited Warranty
A breakdown more than 100 miles from home triggers a separate travel-expense reimbursement benefit, covering up to $1,000 over five days for receipted expenses. A destination-assistance benefit pays up to $75 for a taxi, shuttle, or rental car to get the owner to their immediate destination in an emergency.9Ford.com. Transferring the Warranty
The Gold Certified warranty transfers automatically to future owners at no cost. Any remaining coverage stays with the vehicle, which can support resale value before the powertrain term runs out.10Ford.com. Ford Blue Advantage Warranties
How Gold Certified Differs From Blue Certified
Ford Blue Advantage has two tiers, and the Blue tier is a much narrower package than Gold. The differences:
- Eligibility: Gold accepts Ford models up to six years old with under 80,000 miles. Blue accepts any make or model up to 10 years old with under 150,000 miles.
- Inspection: 172 points for Gold, 139 points for Blue.
- Comprehensive warranty: 12 months/12,000 miles for Gold; 90 days/4,000 miles for Blue.
- Powertrain warranty: 7 years/100,000 miles for Gold; none as standard for Blue.
- Roadside assistance: seven years for Gold; 90 days for Blue.
Both tiers share the 14-day/1,000-mile money-back guarantee, a CARFAX report, a SiriusXM trial, a connected services trial, and reconditioning with manufacturer-authorized parts.11Ford.com. Ford Blue Advantage
Extending Coverage Beyond the Standard Warranty
Buyers wanting more protection can add a Ford Protect Extended Service Plan. Ford offers four tiers: PremiumCARE (over 1,000 components), ExtraCARE (113 components), BaseCARE (84 components), and PowertrainCARE (29 engine and transmission components). Plans can extend coverage up to 11 years or 175,000 miles, with deductible options between $0 and $200. Interest-free financing is available for up to 30 months on plans not rolled into vehicle financing.12Ford.com.
