How to Apply for a Turkey Visa From UAE: e-Visa, Sticker, and Rules

To apply for a Turkey visa from the UAE, first check your passport nationality: UAE citizens travel visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, while expatriate residents on non-UAE passports either apply online for an e-Visa at evisa.gov.tr or book a sticker visa appointment through VFS Global in the UAE.1Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Visa Information For Foreigners Which route is open to you depends on your passport, the reason for your trip, and whether you hold a valid Schengen, US, UK, or Ireland visa or residence permit.

Do You Actually Need a Visa

UAE passport holders don’t. You can enter for tourism or business for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day window with just a valid passport.1Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Visa Information For Foreigners No application, no fee.

If you live in the UAE on a residence visa but travel on another country’s passport, your requirement is set entirely by that passport’s nationality. Some nationalities qualify for the e-Visa. Some are visa-exempt. The rest need a sticker visa. The quickest way to check your own situation is to open the official portal at evisa.gov.tr and select your travel document country; the system tells you immediately what you’re eligible for and what it costs.2Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs. e-Visa or Sticker Visa

These are the two routes for expat residents who need a visa, and they are not interchangeable.

The e-Visa is an electronic authorization valid only for tourism or commercial visits. You apply and receive it online without visiting any office. Validity and entries depend on your nationality: some passport holders get a 30-day single-entry version, others get 90 days multiple entry.1Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The supporting document must still be valid by date when you enter Turkey; it does not need to be unused.3Republic of Türkiye e-Visa. What Are the Criteria for the Validity of My Supporting Document E-visas issued by other countries won’t count as the supporting document.

The sticker visa is the route for everyone else: nationalities not eligible for the e-Visa, and any traveler whose purpose is study, work, family reunification, or anything beyond tourism or business.1Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Visa Information For Foreigners It requires an in-person appointment, biometric capture, and a longer wait, but it covers every nationality and every travel purpose.

Applying for the e-Visa

The whole process runs through the official site, evisa.gov.tr. A warning worth taking seriously: many third-party sites imitate the portal and charge inflated fees for the same service. The Turkish government does not endorse any of them and takes no responsibility if something goes wrong.2Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Applying for a Sticker Visa in the UAE

Sticker visa applications in the UAE go through VFS Global, which handles Turkey appointments on behalf of the consulate. You need to book within 60 days of your planned travel date through the VFS Global website.5VFS Global. Book an Appointment Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends applying at least one month before you plan to travel to absorb any processing delays.6Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs. General Information About Turkish Visas

Download the application form from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website or collect one at the visa center. Fill it out so that every detail matches your passport and supporting documents exactly. Mismatches are one of the fastest ways to get delayed. At the appointment you submit documents, pay the fee, and give biometrics (fingerprints and a photograph).

The core documents you’ll need to prepare:

  • A copy of your passport bio page and your UAE residence visa.
  • Recent biometric passport-sized photos meeting ICAO standards.
  • Confirmed round-trip flight and hotel bookings, or an invitation letter from a host in Turkey.
  • Bank statements for the last three to six months showing you can fund the trip.
  • A No Objection Certificate from your employer, or your trade license if you are self-employed.

Travel insurance is not legally required to enter Turkey, but some consulates and visa centers ask for proof of medical coverage as part of the sticker visa file. A policy covering the stay is worth having in any case.

If the applicant is under 18, a legal guardian must sign the form, and a notarized parental consent is mandatory even when the child travels with both parents. The exception is a single parent with sole parental authority.7VFS Global. Checklist for Visit Family or Friends Visa (Private Visit)

Passport Validity and the 90/180-Day Rule

Legally, your passport must be valid for at least 60 days beyond the end of your stay. For a 90-day visit, that’s 150 days of validity on entry. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs still advises carrying a passport valid for at least six months from your arrival date to avoid problems at the border.8Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Passport Validity Requirements While Entering Türkiye

Whatever visa route you use, you cannot stay more than 90 days within any 180-day period.6Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs. General Information About Turkish Visas Turkey counts this on a rolling basis, not by calendar year, and the cap applies equally to UAE citizens entering visa-free and to e-Visa holders with multiple entry. If you’ve used 90 days in the past six months, you can’t re-enter until enough of those days age out of the window.

Why Applications Get Refused

Most refusals come from a short list of avoidable issues: inaccurate or incomplete information on the form, mismatches between the form and the passport, weak financial documentation, or a supporting Schengen or US visa that has expired or is about to. Applying for an e-Visa when the actual purpose is work or study will also result in a rejection, since the e-Visa covers only tourism and business.1Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Visa Information For Foreigners

If your e-Visa is refused, you can reapply after fixing the cause. For sticker visa refusals, contact the Turkish consulate, since the reapplication timing and steps depend on why it was refused.

Transit and Overstays

Connecting through a Turkish airport without leaving the international transit zone doesn’t need a transit visa. If you plan to step out during a layover, you need either a visa from the nearest consulate or an eligible e-Visa.9Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Frequently Asked Questions

Overstays are treated seriously. A short overstay left voluntarily can be cleared by paying an administrative fine at the border, but overstays beyond three months trigger entry bans that scale with the length of the overstay, and the bans grow considerably longer for anyone deported or who fails to pay their fines.10Directorate General of Migration Management. Statement Regarding the Prohibition of Entry For anyone traveling regularly between the UAE and Turkey, an overstay can shut that route down for years.
