How to Cancel a D&G Service Plan: UK and US Steps, Refunds

To cancel a Domestic & General service plan, submit the request through D&G’s online cancellation form, call customer service, or send a written notice by post. The process is quick once you have your plan or policy number to hand. Whether you get money back depends on timing: UK customers have a 14-day cooling-off period, US customers have a 30-day free-look period, and cancellations outside those windows usually bring no refund.

What to Have Ready

Find your plan or policy number first. It appears in your My Account profile on the D&G website, linked to the name and address used when you set up the account.1Domestic & General. How to Find Your Plan or Policy Number It is also on your welcome email and any physical policy pack you received at enrolment.

Know which appliance the plan covers and when coverage started. Both affect your refund eligibility. D&G verifies your identity against the name and address on file, so confirm those details before you call or submit the form.

Canceling a UK Plan

UK customers have three options. The online form and the phone line are the fastest.

Online Form

From the “Cancelling your cover” page on the D&G help site, follow the link to the cancellation form. It asks for your plan type and account details, then submits the request.2Domestic & General. Cancelling Your Cover The form opens in a separate window from the help page.

Phone

Call 0333 000 4966 to cancel by phone.2Domestic & General. Cancelling Your Cover The cancellation form also lists a freephone alternative, 0800 561 4496, open 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.3Domestic & General. Cancellation Form State clearly that you want to cancel, and ask the agent for a cancellation reference number as proof.

Post

If you want a paper trail, send a completed cancellation form or letter to: Domestic & General, Leicester House, 17 Leicester Street, Bedworth, Warwickshire, CV12 8JP.3Domestic & General. Cancellation Form Keep a copy of anything you send. Postal cancellations take longer to process, so don’t rely on them if your renewal date is close.

Canceling a US Plan

D&G’s US business runs through partnerships with appliance manufacturers. Plans bought through retail partners like Whirlpool or Hisense are still managed by Domestic & General USA Services, but the contact number depends on the partner brand.4Domestic & General. Partner With Us For Whirlpool-branded D&G plans, the cancellation number is 833-206-6343.5Whirlpool Appliance Care. FAQs – Whirlpool Appliance Care

Check your plan documentation for the number that applies to your coverage. The cancellation terms themselves come from D&G’s US plan terms and conditions regardless of which brand sold the plan.

Refunds and the Cooling-Off Window

How much you get back comes down to when you cancel. The windows are different in each country.

UK: 14 Days

D&G’s UK terms give you a 14-day cooling-off period starting from when you receive your plan documentation or from the policy start date, whichever is later. Cancel inside that window and you get a full refund of any premiums paid.6Domestic & General. Policy Terms and Conditions

Cancel after those 14 days and the standard terms keep your plan active until the end of the period you have already paid for, with no refund. One exception: if D&G changes the terms of your plan and you don’t agree, you can cancel within the notice period and get a pro-rata refund for the unused days.6Domestic & General. Policy Terms and Conditions

US: 30 Days, With State Overrides

US plan terms give you a 30-day free-look period from the coverage effective date. Cancel inside those 30 days with no claim filed and you get a full refund of the plan fee. After the free-look period, you can still cancel at any time, but the plan runs out the current coverage month and no refund is issued.7Domestic & General. Plan Terms and Conditions

State law can change the result. Several states require D&G to give a pro-rata refund even after the free-look period, sometimes minus an administrative fee. Alabama allows a $25 administrative fee but requires a pro-rata refund of the remaining plan value. Arizona caps the administrative fee at 10% of the contract price or $75, whichever is less. California extends the full-refund window to 30 days for home appliances and 60 days for other products.7Domestic & General. Plan Terms and Conditions State-specific amendments appear at the back of your plan terms, so check the section for your state.

Stopping Auto-Renewal Without Canceling

Fixed-term D&G insurance policies renew automatically unless you opt out. If you want to keep the plan for the current term but prevent it from rolling into another, act at least 15 working days before the renewal date and use the online form D&G provides for changing auto-renewal preferences.8Domestic & General. Automatic Policy Renewals

Inside 15 working days of renewal, the online form won’t process in time. Call 0333 000 9780 to make the change by phone instead.8Domestic & General. Automatic Policy Renewals Monthly rolling plans don’t go through this process; they continue month-to-month until you cancel outright.

If a Repair or Replacement Is in Progress

Timing matters here too. If D&G replaces your appliance or provides a voucher settlement before you cancel, the plan ends automatically at that point and no refund is issued, because the plan has done its job.6Domestic & General. Policy Terms and Conditions If you cancel while a repair is still pending, you lose coverage for that repair once the cancellation takes effect. Wait for any open claim to close before you submit your cancellation.
