To cancel a Miro subscription, the account’s Billing Admin opens Billing in the admin settings, clicks Cancel subscription, confirms the reason, and confirms again. Paid access continues through the end of the current billing cycle, and Miro does not refund unused time. If you want to avoid paying for a period you won’t use, cancel close to your renewal date rather than right after one.
Who Can Cancel
Only the Billing Admin, the cardholder whose payment method is on file, can cancel the subscription. If you’re a regular team member, you’ll need to ask that person to do it or have them reassign billing access to you first.1Miro Help Center. Admin FAQ
If your organization runs multiple teams under one profile, confirm the team name on the billing overview before you click anything. Canceling the wrong team leaves the one you wanted gone still billing.
Enterprise plans can’t be canceled from the self-service billing page. These are negotiated contracts, so contact your Miro account representative or reach support through the Learning Center under Billing & Subscription.
The Cancellation Steps
From the Miro dashboard, click your profile avatar in the top-right corner and open the Admin console or Settings. In the left sidebar, click Billing to open the Billing Overview.2Miro Help Center. Cancel Your Miro Subscription
Under Billing actions, click Cancel subscription. A dialog opens. From there:
- Click Continue to cancel. On a Business plan, you’ll see an additional Cancel subscription option before proceeding.
- Select your reason for leaving from the short dropdown. If you’re switching to another tool, you can name it.
- Click Cancel subscription one final time. A confirmation appears on screen, and all admins on the team receive an email confirming the subscription will expire at the end of the current billing period.
Keep that email. If a charge shows up after your cancellation date, it’s your proof you acted before the renewal.2Miro Help Center. Cancel Your Miro Subscription
Back Up Your Boards Before Access Drops
Once the paid period ends, most boards become view-only and you lose editing access. Export anything important while you still have it. Open the board, click the three-dot menu, go to Board, then Export, and select Download board backup. The file saves in .rtb format and can be re-imported if you resubscribe later.3Miro Help Center. How to Save Board Backup
Only board owners and co-owners can download backups from paid teams, the feature works only in a browser or desktop app, and individual backups cap at 1 GB. Oversized boards need to be split before export. You can also kick off backups from the dashboard by clicking the three-dot icon on any board tile.3Miro Help Center. How to Save Board Backup
What Happens After the Billing Period Ends
Nothing changes day-to-day until the paid period you already covered runs out. On that date, every board on the team locks into view-only mode for all members. Your boards are not deleted.2Miro Help Center. Cancel Your Miro Subscription
To get editing back, you can resubscribe to a paid plan or downgrade to the free plan. The free plan lets you edit only your three most recently created boards. Everything else stays view-only. Private boards become inactive and don’t count toward the three-board limit, but you can’t edit them unless you share them with the team and they fall within the limit.4Miro Help Center. Free Plan
If you had multiple teams on a Business plan, downgrading merges them into a single free team. All members, guests, and boards consolidate, and guests convert to regular members. Plan for that restructuring if your teams were working on separate projects.5Miro Help Center. Downgrade Your Plan
Refunds and a Possible Final Charge
Miro does not refund unused subscription time. You keep access through what you’ve paid for, and that’s it. One thing that catches people off guard: if there’s an unpaid invoice for additional licenses when you cancel, your card on file gets charged immediately for that outstanding amount.2Miro Help Center. If you think a charge is wrong or want to ask for an exception, contact support through the Learning Center under Contact support, then Billing & Subscription, then Billing & Payments.
Canceling Is Not the Same as Deleting Your Profile
Canceling stops future charges but leaves your account and boards in place. If you want your data removed from Miro, that’s a separate step, and you have to cancel the subscription first. Deleting your profile while a subscription is still active does not stop billing.6Miro Help Center. How to Delete Your Profile
To delete the profile, go to Profile settings, scroll to the bottom, and click Delete my profile. Miro sends a confirmation email with a link. You must be logged into Miro in your browser when you click that link, or the deletion won’t go through.6Miro Help Center. How to Delete Your Profile
Deletion is permanent. Your boards are deleted immediately. If other admins exist on the team, your content is reassigned to one of them, and they can restore those boards within 90 days. If you were the only admin, everything is gone. Users who log in through Single Sign-On or SCIM-managed accounts may not be able to delete their profiles at all.6Miro Help Center.
