How to Cancel Adobe Premiere Pro: Fees, Refunds, and Steps

To cancel Adobe Premiere Pro, sign in at account.adobe.com, open the plan that includes Premiere Pro under “Plans and Payment,” and work through the “Cancel your plan” flow. What it costs depends entirely on which plan you’re on: a monthly plan ends with no penalty beyond the current billing cycle, an annual plan paid monthly triggers a 50% early termination fee if you cancel after the first 14 days, and a prepaid annual plan gives no refund but keeps your access running until the term ends. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you have to cancel there instead.

Find Out Which Plan You’re On

Before you cancel, check your plan type. The three Adobe sells have very different cancellation rules, and the gap between them can be hundreds of dollars.

  • Annual, paid monthly. You committed to a year but pay each month. This is the plan most likely to generate a cancellation fee if you leave early.
  • Annual, prepaid. You paid for the full year upfront at a discount. Canceling after 14 days gets you no refund, but your access runs out the year.
  • Monthly. No annual commitment. Higher per-month price, but you can walk away after the current billing period with no penalty.

Sign in at account.adobe.com and look under “Plans and Payment” to confirm which one is active. Your billing history on the same page shows the next payment date, which tells you how much paid access you have left.

What Canceling Will Cost You

The First 14 Days Are Free

Every Adobe plan comes with a 14-day refund window from the date of your initial purchase. Cancel inside that window and you get a full refund, no questions asked.1Adobe. Cancel Your Adobe Trial or Subscription The same window applies when you start a new plan or switch plans, which matters for the workaround described below.

Annual Paid Monthly: 50% of What’s Left

Cancel after the 14-day window and you owe an early termination fee equal to 50% of the remaining months on your contract.1Adobe. Cancel Your Adobe Trial or Subscription If you’re paying $22.99 a month and cancel six months in, you’d owe half of the remaining six months as a lump sum, charged immediately. Adobe shows the exact figure on the confirmation screen before you commit, so there’s no surprise, but the amount can be substantial if you’re far from your renewal date.

Annual Prepaid: No Refund, But You Keep Access

If you paid for the full year upfront, canceling after 14 days returns nothing. Your access stays active through the end of the paid term, with no proration for unused months.1Adobe. Cancel Your Adobe Trial or Subscription If you’re on this plan, the practical move is to wait until the renewal date is close and cancel then, so auto-renewal doesn’t catch you.

Monthly: Cancel Anytime

Monthly plans end cleanly. The current month’s payment is non-refundable after 14 days, but you owe nothing beyond it, and your access continues through the period you’ve already paid for.2Adobe. Adobe Subscription and Cancellation Terms You’ve been paying a premium per month for exactly this flexibility.

A Way Around the Early Termination Fee

If you’re on an annual plan paid monthly and don’t want to hand over the 50% fee, there’s a workaround that leans on Adobe’s own refund policy. When you start the cancellation, Adobe’s retention flow may offer to switch you to a cheaper plan instead of letting you cancel. Accepting that offer puts you on a new plan with a fresh 14-day refund window. You can then cancel the new, cheaper plan inside those 14 days and pay nothing.

It isn’t guaranteed to appear, and Adobe can change the retention flow at any time. But it’s worth attempting before you accept a large termination charge, because any plan switch restarts the 14-day clock and Adobe’s terms entitle you to a full refund within that window.1Adobe. Steps to Cancel on Adobe’s Website

Cancellation goes through your Adobe account page, not through the Premiere Pro app:

  • Sign in at account.adobe.com.
  • Find the plan that includes Premiere Pro and select “Manage plan.”
  • Select “Cancel your plan.”
  • Review your plan details and select “Continue to cancel.”
  • Pick a reason from the dropdown and select “Continue.”
  • Review the cancellation details, including any early termination fee, and select “Confirm cancellation.”

Adobe will offer retention deals along the way — discounted rates, plan pauses, plan switches. You can decline each one and continue to the final confirmation screen.3Adobe. Cancel Your Adobe Trial or Subscription Watch for the confirmation email. If it doesn’t arrive within a few hours, log back in and verify the plan shows as canceled. That email is your evidence if a billing dispute comes up later.

If You Subscribed Through Apple or Google

Adobe can’t cancel a subscription it doesn’t bill for. If you signed up through the App Store or Google Play, you have to cancel there, and that store’s refund policies apply instead of Adobe’s.

On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, find the Adobe subscription, and tap Cancel Subscription.4Apple. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple Apple’s rules differ from Adobe’s, so the 14-day window and the 50% fee described above may not apply the same way, and any refund request goes through Apple.

On Google Play, open the app, tap your profile icon, go to Payments & subscriptions, choose Subscriptions, find the Adobe plan, and tap Cancel subscription. Disputes go through Google Play support.

What You Lose When Access Ends

Once the paid period you’ve already covered expires, Premiere Pro stops opening. You can’t edit or export. Resubscribe later with the same Adobe ID and everything picks up where you left off.

Cloud storage drops to 5 GB.5Adobe. Account Access After Plan Cancellation If you have more than that stored in Creative Cloud, you get a limited window to download your files before Adobe may delete anything over the cap. Pull everything down before you cancel, or right after, rather than letting that deadline approach.

Project files (.prproj) on your local drive stay intact, but they only open in an active copy of Premiere Pro. They aren’t compatible with DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or other editors. A collaborator with an active subscription can open them on their machine. Any media you’ve already exported as MP4, MOV, or similar standard formats keeps working regardless of your subscription status.

If you built a site through Adobe Portfolio, it stays live for about 14 days after cancellation, then goes offline. The content isn’t deleted — it sits in the Portfolio editor, ready to republish if you resubscribe.

If Adobe Won’t Let You Cancel Online

The Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act requires any business using automatic-renewal billing to provide “simple mechanisms for a consumer to stop recurring charges.”6Office of the Law Revision Counsel. United States Code Title 15 – Section 8403 Adobe’s online flow satisfies that requirement, but if technical errors or broken links block you from canceling through the website, that statute is what you cite. Contact Adobe’s support chat or customer service line, say you’re unable to cancel online, and ask them to process it.
