To cancel your Audible subscription, go to the platform that actually bills you: the Audible website if Audible charges your card directly, the Apple App Store if you signed up on an iPhone or iPad, or the Google Play Store if you subscribed on Android. Canceling in the wrong place won’t stop the charges. Before you cancel anywhere, spend any credits sitting in your account, because they expire the instant your membership ends.1Audible. Do These Things First
Figure out who bills you. Log in at audible.com, open Account Details, and look at the Membership tab. That page shows your plan, your billing method, and your next charge date. If the billing method points to Apple or Google, the Audible website cannot cancel your subscription for you.2Audible. Cancel Membership
Spend your credits. Audible’s Conditions of Use are blunt: credits expire immediately when you cancel your membership.1Audible. Audible Service Conditions of Use There is no grace period. Each Premium Plus credit currently runs $14.95, so unused credits are real money on the table.3Audible. Membership Plans and Pricing Whatever you buy with a credit stays in your library permanently after cancellation.
Return anything you regret. Audible allows returns of credit-purchased titles within 365 days of purchase, but only while you’re still an active Premium member in good standing.4Audible. Return a Title Cancel first and you lose the option. Returning a title gives the credit back so you can spend it on something you’ll actually want.
Download the titles you care about. Audible’s terms say the company “may continue to make your purchased content available for re-download” but does not guarantee it.5Audible. Audible Service Conditions of Use In practice, purchased titles have stayed accessible for years, but pulling local copies before you cancel costs nothing.
If you only need a break from the charges rather than a full exit, Audible lets you pause your membership for up to three months, once every twelve months; that option appears inside the cancellation flow itself.
Cancel on the Audible Website
Use this method only if Audible bills you directly. Log in at audible.com and open Account Details. In the membership section, click “Cancel membership.”2Audible. Cancel Membership
Audible does not make this quick. You’ll walk through several screens offering discounted plans, free months, or a pause. Keep selecting “Continue to cancel” until you reach the confirmation page. Once you confirm, the site shows a cancellation message and sends a verification email. Save that email.
Your Plus Catalog access continues to the end of your current billing cycle, not the moment you click cancel.2Audible. Cancel Membership Credits, again, are gone immediately.
Deleting the Audible app from your phone does not cancel your membership.2Audible. Cancel Membership The charges continue until you finish the actual cancellation steps.
Cancel Through the Apple App Store
If you subscribed on an iPhone or iPad, Apple handles the billing and Audible’s site can’t touch it.2Audible. Cancel Membership Open Settings, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions.6Audible. Manage App Store Subscription Find Audible, tap it, and choose Cancel Subscription. Apple will confirm the date your access ends, typically the last day of the period you’ve already paid for.
Cancel Through the Google Play Store
Android subscribers signed up through Google Play cancel there. Open the Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then choose Payments and Subscriptions.7Audible. Manage Google Play Store Subscription Tap Subscriptions, find Audible, and follow the prompts.
You can do the same from a desktop by going to play.google.com and opening Payments and Subscriptions.8Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play
Canceling a Free Trial
To avoid being charged after a 30-day free trial, cancel before the trial ends. Audible’s terms let trial members opt out at any time through Account Details.1Audible. Audible Service Conditions of Use The steps are the same as above, on whichever platform you used to sign up.
If your trial included a free credit, spend it before you cancel. A credit earned during a trial expires the moment you cancel, just like any other credit. The audiobook you buy with it is yours to keep.
What Happens to Your Audiobooks
Anything you bought with a credit or paid for directly stays in your library and remains fully playable. Audible’s terms state that cancellation “does not terminate your license and access to purchased content.”1Audible. Audible Service Conditions of Use You can re-download and play those titles indefinitely.
Plus Catalog titles are different. They work like a streaming library, and they lock at the end of your final billing cycle.2Audible. Cancel Membership They’ll still appear in your library, but they won’t play.
Canceling your Audible subscription is not the same as closing your Amazon account. The subscription cancellation ends the recurring charge and member benefits; your Amazon account and the audiobook library attached to it stay intact.
Refunds and Getting Help
