How to Cancel Apple iTunes on iPhone, Mac, or PC

To cancel an iTunes subscription, open your Apple Account’s Subscriptions list on an iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows PC, or web browser, select the subscription, and tap or click Cancel Subscription. Apple retired the standalone iTunes name on most platforms and split its features across Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Devices, but the cancellation path is the same across all of them. One detail worth catching before you do anything else: if you’re on a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, or Apple will charge you for the first full billing cycle.1Apple Support. When the Cancel Button Isn’t There

If the Cancel Subscription button doesn’t appear, the subscription is either already canceled or billed directly by the developer rather than through Apple. Services you signed up for on the company’s own website (not through the App Store) won’t show up in your Apple subscription list, and Apple can’t cancel or refund them for you.3Apple Support. About Purchases Not Billed Through the App Store or Apple In-App Purchase

To check whether a charge is going through Apple, look at your purchase history. Only subscriptions tied to your Apple Account appear there. If what you’re looking for isn’t listed, you’ll need to contact the developer directly or cancel through whatever account you originally used to sign up.3Apple Support. What Happens After You Cancel

Canceling doesn’t cut you off right away. You keep access until the end of the billing period you already paid for. A subscription that renewed on the 5th and was canceled on the 18th stays active through the 4th of the following month, and no further charges hit your account after that.1Apple Support. Free trials are stricter. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Miss that window and Apple charges you for the first full cycle.1Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple

To confirm the cancellation went through, open your Subscriptions screen again. The entry should now show an expiration date instead of a renewal date. Apple also emails receipts for billing changes, so searching your inbox for “receipt from Apple” gives you written confirmation.4Apple Support. If You Were Already Charged

If a renewal went through before you canceled, you can ask Apple for a refund. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, tap “I’d like to,” and select “Request a refund.” Choose a reason, select the specific charge, and submit. Apple typically responds within 24 to 48 hours.4Apple Support. Request a Refund for Apps or Content That You Bought From Apple

You can’t request a refund while a charge is still pending; wait for the email receipt. If the charge was for a family member’s purchase through Family Sharing, only the family organizer can submit the request. Apple doesn’t guarantee approval, but an accidental renewal after a missed cancellation is one of the more straightforward cases.4Apple Support. If You Share the Subscription With Family

If you’re the family organizer and you cancel a shared subscription, every member of your Family Sharing group loses access. Content other members downloaded from your purchase history becomes unusable, and in-app purchases made through apps you originally bought are no longer accessible to them.5Apple Support.
