To cancel an Apple Music free trial before you get charged, open your subscription settings on the device you signed up with and turn off the renewal at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Miss that window and Apple bills you automatically for the first month at $10.99 for the individual plan, $5.99 for student, or $16.99 for family.1Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple The good news: canceling the day you sign up still lets you use the full trial period, so there’s no reason to wait.
The 24-Hour Deadline
Apple requires cancellation at least 24 hours before the trial period ends.1Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple If your one-month trial started on January 5, it ends February 5, so you’d need to cancel by February 4 at the latest. This is where most people slip up. Cancel early. You keep every day of trial access you were promised, and you remove the risk of a forgotten renewal.

Android has a wrinkle. If you signed up through Google Play, cancel through the Google Play app or at play.google.com, because Google handles the billing and Apple can’t cancel it for you. If you signed up directly with Apple on your Android phone, go to account.apple.com and manage the subscription there.1Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple
If Your Trial Came Through a Carrier
Some wireless carriers, including Verizon and T-Mobile, bundle Apple Music trials with certain phone plans. A carrier-bundled trial won’t show up in your Apple subscription settings at all. Cancel it through the carrier’s app or website instead.3Verizon. Cancel Apple Music Subscription
Not sure who’s billing you? Check your card or bank statement. A charge listed as “apple.com/bill” or “itunes.com/bill” means Apple handles it directly and the steps above apply.4Apple Support. If You See an Apple Services Charge You Don’t Recognize on Your Apple Card A charge under your carrier’s name means you contact them.
If Your Trial Is Part of Apple One
Apple Music is included in every Apple One bundle. Canceling Apple Music alone isn’t an option when it’s bundled; you cancel the entire Apple One plan. When you do, Apple offers to keep any individual services in the bundle (such as iCloud+ or Apple TV+) as their own paid subscriptions.5Apple. Apple One If Apple Music is the only piece you want to drop, compare the cost of individual subscriptions for the services you actually use.
If You’re the Family Sharing Organizer
Canceling an Apple Music family trial cuts off access for every member of your Family Sharing group, not just you. Family members lose streaming access immediately, and content shared through the group becomes unavailable to them.6Apple Support. How to Leave or Remove a Member From a Family Sharing Group Anyone who wants to keep listening will need their own plan. Give the household a heads-up before you cancel.
What Happens After You Cancel
Canceling during a free trial doesn’t shut off your access right away. You keep streaming until the trial period actually expires.2Apple Support. How to Cancel Apple Music Cancel on day two of a one-month trial and you still get roughly 28 more days.
Once the trial ends, songs from the Apple Music catalog stop playing and playlists built from catalog tracks become unavailable, including any Apple Music tracks you downloaded for offline listening. Music you owned before subscribing (purchased songs, imported files) stays on your device and works normally.2Apple Support. How to Cancel Apple Music
