To cancel an Asurion protection plan, go through whoever bills you: your wireless carrier if the charge shows up on your phone bill, or Asurion directly if it’s a retail plan or Home+ subscription. Getting that first step right is the difference between a five-minute cancellation and half an hour on hold with the wrong company. Here is how to cancel Asurion coverage cleanly, whichever version you have.
Find Out Who Manages Your Plan
Pull up your bank or credit card statement and look at how the charge appears. If it’s bundled into your wireless bill from Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile, the carrier administers the plan and you cancel through them. If you see a separate line from Asurion or from a retailer like Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot, or Lowe’s, the plan sits with Asurion’s retail division. Asurion Home+, the subscription that covers home appliances, smart devices, and personal tech, is also handled by Asurion directly.
This matters because calling Asurion about a carrier-managed plan sends you in a loop. They’ll tell you to call Verizon, and you’ve lost twenty minutes for nothing. Match the charge to the right company before you pick up the phone.

Amazon
For plans bought through Amazon, go to amazon.com/yourmembershipsandsubscriptions and find your Asurion plan. Within the first 30 days, click Cancel Item. After 30 days, open Your Orders, search for Asurion, click Problem with order, choose No longer needed, and follow the return prompts.4Asurion. Amazon Complete Protect FAQs
Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Others
Log in at protection.asurion.com with the credentials tied to your plan. You’ll be able to view active coverage and submit a cancellation. If your retailer isn’t in the portal’s list, Asurion tells you to call the number printed in your plan’s terms and conditions.5Asurion. Protection Plans
If the portal doesn’t cover your plan, you have two fallbacks. Within 30 days of purchase, bring your receipt back to the store where you bought the plan. After 30 days, submit a written cancellation request with a copy of your receipt and the plan’s terms and conditions.5Asurion. Protection Plans

Cancel in Writing
When the portal doesn’t cover your situation, or you just want a paper trail, Asurion accepts written cancellation requests. Include a copy of your purchase receipt and the plan’s terms and conditions. Send the request to either:
- Email: DepartmentC@asurion.com
- Mail: Asurion, P.O. Box 1818, Sterling, VA 20167 USA
A written request is useful if you’ve been going back and forth with a phone rep and want documentation that your cancellation was submitted on a specific date.5Asurion. Protection Plans
Refunds and the 30-Day Free Look
Most Asurion plans include a 30-day free look after purchase. Cancel inside that window without having filed a claim and you get a full refund. This applies to both retail plans and carrier-based plans.7Asurion. Protection Plan FAQs If you’re still in the first month and having second thoughts, act now. After day 30, refunds drop to a prorated amount.
Cancel after 30 days and the refund is based on the unused portion of your plan, minus the cost of any claims you’ve already filed. For plans paid in full at purchase, Asurion subtracts the value of coverage you’ve used and refunds the rest. Some states also let Asurion take a small administrative fee out of the prorated refund.
Carrier monthly plans work differently. There’s no lump sum to refund because you paid month to month. Verizon prorates the current billing cycle so you’re not charged for days after cancellation takes effect.1Verizon. Verizon Mobile Protect FAQs
Do These Two Things Before You Cancel
File Any Pending Claim First
If your device is damaged or malfunctioning right now, file the claim before you cancel. Once coverage ends, you can’t submit new claims. People sometimes cancel in frustration over a deductible without realizing the repair or replacement is worth more than the fee.8Asurion. Have Your Account Details Ready
Before you start, gather the phone number or email tied to the account, your device’s IMEI (for smartphones) or serial number (for laptops and appliances), and your plan’s terms and conditions if you’re going the written route. For carrier plans, your wireless login is usually enough. For retail plans, having the purchase receipt speeds things up.
After You Cancel
Get a confirmation number or email before you close the browser or hang up. This is the most important step in the whole process. If a billing error shows up next month and you can’t prove the cancellation, you’re starting over. Save it somewhere you’ll actually find it.
For monthly carrier plans, coverage usually stays active through the end of the current billing cycle since you’ve already paid for it. For Amazon plans, coverage continues for 30 days after cancellation.4Asurion. Amazon Complete Protect FAQs After that window, any damage is on you regardless of how long you carried the plan before.
Then check next month’s statement to make sure the charge has actually stopped. Automated billing sometimes misses the update, and catching it early turns a five-minute fix into that instead of a multi-month dispute.
