To cancel Cheaterbuster, log into your account, cancel the subscription from the dashboard, then separately revoke any billing authorization you set up through PayPal, Apple, or Google Play. If you also want the account itself closed and your search history removed, email support@cheaterbuster.email from the address tied to your account and request deletion. The subscription cancellation and the account closure are two different steps, and stopping the recurring charge is the one that has to come first.
Cancel the Subscription From Your Dashboard
Cheaterbuster runs on a subscription with weekly updates for active searches, and the company confirms you can cancel at any time from your account.1Cheaterbuster. FAQ Log in with the email you registered under, open account settings, and find the subscription management option. Expect a retention screen or two offering a pause or downgrade. Click past those and confirm the full cancellation.
Once you reach the final confirmation, your dashboard should show the subscription as no longer active or set to expire at the end of the current billing period. Screenshot that screen. It’s stronger evidence than any follow-up email if a charge shows up later. Note when your remaining access ends so the loss of features isn’t a surprise.
Shut Off Third-Party Billing
If you paid through PayPal, Apple, or Google Play instead of entering a card directly on Cheaterbuster’s site, canceling on the site alone will not stop the charges. The billing authorization sits with the processor, and you have to revoke it there. Check your bank statement — the merchant name will tell you which processor is involved.
PayPal
On the PayPal website, go to Settings, click Payments, then select Subscriptions and Saved Businesses (sometimes labeled Automatic Payments). Find the Cheaterbuster entry and cancel the recurring billing agreement. In the app, tap the menu icon, go to Subscriptions or Linked Businesses, select the merchant, tap Stop Paying with PayPal, and confirm by tapping Unlink.2PayPal. Apple
On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, find Cheaterbuster, and tap Cancel Subscription. If there’s no cancel button or you see a red expiration message, the subscription is already canceled.3Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple
Google Play
On your Android device, open subscriptions in Google Play, select the Cheaterbuster subscription, tap Cancel Subscription, and follow the prompts. Uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription; you have to go through the Play Store’s subscription screen.4Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play
Close the Account and Delete Your Data
Canceling the subscription stops future charges. It does not close the account or remove your search history from Cheaterbuster’s servers. For that, the FAQ directs you to email support from the address associated with the account.1Cheaterbuster. FAQ Write to support@cheaterbuster.email and ask for account closure and deletion of your data, including search history.
Do this after the subscription cancellation is confirmed, not before. Requesting closure while the recurring charge is still authorized can leave the billing alive after your access is gone. Cheaterbuster’s privacy policy says the service does not maintain long-term stored profiles about individuals, but search inputs and related data may be retained for operational, security, and legal purposes, and it does not specify a retention period.5Cheaterbuster. Privacy Policy If deletion matters to you, say explicitly in your email that you want all personally identifiable information associated with your account removed. Keep a copy of the request and any response, and follow up if you haven’t heard back in a couple of weeks.
Refunds
Cheaterbuster’s Terms and Conditions state that if you are not satisfied with your purchase, you can contact the company within three days of your order. Support reviews the case, and if it meets the refund policy criteria, you may qualify for a reversal.6Cheaterbuster. Terms and Conditions Three days is short, so act immediately rather than waiting for the next billing cycle. The terms do not spell out which situations qualify. Email support@cheaterbuster.email with your account email, a clear description of the problem, and the transaction details from your receipt.
If Charges Keep Coming
If you’ve canceled on the platform and revoked the third-party billing but a charge still lands, contact your credit card issuer, explain that you canceled, share the screenshot of the confirmation, and request a chargeback for anything billed after the cancellation date. Card issuers generally require you to dispute unauthorized charges within 60 days of the statement date, so don’t let statements pile up unopened.
Skipping the normal cancellation steps and going straight to the bank weakens the dispute, because you can’t show you tried to cancel first. Cancel on the platform, revoke the processor authorization, and then use the chargeback only for a charge that appeared after both.
When Cancellation Is Made Difficult
A federal rule finalized by the FTC in late 2024 requires subscription sellers to make cancellation as easy as sign-up. If you consented online, the seller must offer an equally simple online way out, without forcing you to call a phone number or negotiate with a retention agent, and it prohibits unreasonable barriers or procedures that undermine the promised cancellation path.7Federal Trade Commission. Federal Trade Commission Announces Final Click-to-Cancel Rule Making It Easier for Consumers to End Recurring Subscriptions If Cheaterbuster’s cancellation process buries the cancel button, forces a call, or loops you through obstacles that weren’t there when you signed up, you can file a complaint at ftc.gov/complaint. A complaint won’t refund you directly, but it helps the FTC identify patterns and pursue enforcement.
