How to Cancel Checkmyfile Subscription: Phone, Email, or App Store

To cancel a checkmyfile subscription, log into your account at checkmyfile.com, open the Expert Help menu, and submit a cancellation request; you can also email help@checkmyfile.com or call 01872 304050 during business hours. The service costs £14.99 a month after a 7-day free trial, so cancelling before that trial window closes is the surest way to avoid any charge. Online cancellation takes a few minutes once you know where to click.

Cancel Online Through Expert Help

The fastest route is through the checkmyfile website. Sign in with the email and password you registered with, then work through these steps:

  • Click Expert Help in the top-right area of the page.
  • In the first dropdown, choose I need help with my account. In the second, select Cancel my subscription.
  • Scroll down and click the purple Cancel my subscription button.

checkmyfile then sends a confirmation email with a cancellation code. Once that email arrives, you’re done. One easy mistake: don’t navigate away before clicking the purple button. Reaching the cancellation screen without completing that final click leaves your subscription active.

Cancel by Phone or Email

If you can’t log into your account or would rather not use the website, email help@checkmyfile.com or call 01872 304050. Phone lines are open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. Have your registered email address and account details ready so the support team can find your subscription.

Email gives you a written record of the request. Include your full name, the email address tied to your account, and a clear statement that you want to cancel. Save the reply as proof.

Cancel Before the Free Trial Ends

checkmyfile runs a 7-day free trial before the £14.99 monthly charge begins.1Checkmyfile. Sign Up – Take Your Credit Score Further If you signed up only to check your file before a mortgage application or to dispute an error, that trial window is your deadline. Cancel at any point in those seven days and you won’t be charged.

The clock starts the moment you create your account, not when you first view your report. Sign up on a Tuesday afternoon and you need to cancel by the following Tuesday. Don’t leave it until the last hour. Login trouble or a processing delay could push you past the cutoff, and checkmyfile’s terms state that payments for credit report services are not refundable.2Checkmyfile. Terms of Use

If You Subscribed Through an App Store

If you signed up through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, cancelling on the checkmyfile website won’t stop the charges. Those subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, not by checkmyfile, so you have to cancel through the platform that handles your payment.

On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Find checkmyfile and tap Cancel Subscription. If the Cancel button is missing or you see an expiration date in red, the subscription is already cancelled.3Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple

On Android, open the Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Select checkmyfile and tap Cancel subscription. If you can’t find the subscription in either store, search your email for a receipt to confirm which account was used.

What Happens After You Cancel

A confirmation email should arrive within minutes of completing the online request. It contains a cancellation code, which is your proof that the request went through. Keep it. If a charge turns up on your statement after cancellation, that code is what you’ll reference when asking for a refund.

Access to your credit report data usually continues until the end of your current billing period. Cancel on day three of a monthly cycle and you can still view your reports for the days you’ve already paid for. After that, the account goes dormant and updated reports are no longer available.

Because payments for credit report services are non-refundable under checkmyfile’s terms, timing matters.2Checkmyfile. Terms of Use If you’re unsure, cancel early in the billing cycle rather than counting on a prorated refund later.

Does Cancelling Affect Your Credit Score?

No. checkmyfile is a credit monitoring service, not a credit agreement, so cancelling it has no effect on your score with Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion. Only credit agreements such as loans, credit cards, and fixed-term contracts get reported to credit reference agencies. A monthly subscription to view your own data isn’t one of those, and ending it leaves your score untouched.

Stopping Payments Through Your Bank

If you’ve cancelled with checkmyfile but charges keep appearing, or you can’t access your account at all, you can ask your bank to block the payment. In the UK, banks are required to cancel a continuous payment authority when a customer instructs them to, and they cannot tell you to contact the merchant first. If a payment still goes through after you’ve cancelled the authority, the bank must refund it immediately.4Financial Conduct Authority. FCA Reminds Banks of Their Obligations When Cancelling Continuous Payment

Treat this as a backup, not a replacement for cancelling properly. Blocking the payment doesn’t formally close your checkmyfile account, and you may still owe for a service period already started. Cancel with checkmyfile first, then use the bank route if something goes wrong.

Your Rights Under UK Consumer Law

checkmyfile is a UK-based service, so the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 apply. You have a 14-day cooling-off period after entering a service contract, during which you can cancel for any reason without giving an explanation.5Legislation.gov.uk. The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 That right is separate from checkmyfile’s 7-day free trial. To use it, you only need to tell the company clearly that you want to cancel, by email, phone, or through the website.

If checkmyfile did not properly inform you of your cancellation rights when you signed up, the 14-day window extends to 12 months. Most people cancel through the website or by email well inside these deadlines, but the law is on your side if a company makes cancellation harder than it should be.

Check your bank or card statement in the billing cycle after you cancel to confirm no further charges appear. If they do, your cancellation code and any email correspondence are the evidence you need to dispute the charge with checkmyfile, with your bank, or through a formal complaint.
