How to Cancel Cinemax on Amazon, Hulu, Roku, and More

To cancel Cinemax, go to whichever company actually charges you each month and cancel there. That might be Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Apple, Google Play, Roku, or a cable or satellite provider. Canceling in the wrong place leaves the charges running, so the first move is always to check your bank or credit card statement and see which company’s name sits next to the Cinemax charge.

Find Out Who Is Billing You

Pull up your most recent statement. “AMAZON” or “PRIME VIDEO” points to Amazon. “HULU” points to Hulu. “APPLE.COM/BILL” means you subscribed through an Apple device. A cable or satellite company name, like Comcast, Spectrum, or DirecTV, means Cinemax is riding on your TV package.

Once you know the biller, make sure you have the login for that specific account before you start. The email and password for your Cinemax viewing profile isn’t necessarily the same as the account that pays for it.

Cinemax Is Not the Same as Max

Cinemax and Max (formerly HBO Max) are separate products, though both come from Warner Bros. Discovery. Cinemax still exists as a standalone add-on through platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and Apple TV. If what you actually want to cancel is Max, the process runs through Max’s own site or whichever platform you used to sign up for Max, not the steps below.

Cancel Cinemax on Amazon Prime Video

  • Open Account & Settings on the Prime Video website and choose “Your subscriptions” from the top menu.
  • Find Cinemax in your active subscriptions.
  • Select “Unsubscribe” and confirm.

The confirmation screen shows your end date, and you can reverse the cancellation up until that date. After it, access ends and billing stops. Amazon does not prorate or refund add-on channel charges for the current cycle.1Amazon. Cancel Your Prime Video Add-On Subscription

Cancel Cinemax on Hulu

Hulu carries Cinemax as a $9.99 per month add-on on top of your base plan.2Hulu. Watch Cinemax Online and Stream On-demand

  • Go to your Account page and find “Your Subscription.”
  • Select “Manage Add-ons.”
  • Click the checkmark next to Cinemax so it becomes an X.
  • Click “Review Changes,” then “Submit.”

The add-on drops at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access until then.3Hulu. Hulu Help – Cinemax on Hulu

Cancel Through Apple

If Apple is billing you, the cancellation happens in Apple’s settings, not inside the Cinemax app. On an iPhone or iPad:

  • Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
  • Tap “Subscriptions.”
  • Tap the Cinemax subscription.
  • Tap “Cancel Subscription.” If there is no cancel button and you see a red expiration message, it has already been canceled.

On a Mac, open the App Store, click your name, then go to Account Settings and scroll to Subscriptions.4Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription from Apple

Timing matters here. If your Prime Video add-on billing runs through Apple, cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, or you may still be charged for the next cycle.1Amazon. Cancel Your Prime Video Add-On Subscription

Cancel Through Google Play

If Google handles the billing, open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, and go to “Subscriptions.” Select Cinemax and tap cancel. Google recommends canceling at least 48 hours before your renewal date because processing takes time. Access continues through the end of the paid period.

Cancel Through Roku

On your Roku remote, press Home, move to the Cinemax channel tile, and press the Star (*) button. Choose “Manage subscription,” then “Turn off auto-renew.” If “Manage subscription” isn’t there, Roku isn’t the biller and you’ll need to cancel wherever the charge actually originates.

Cancel Through a Cable or Satellite Provider

When Cinemax shows up on your cable or satellite bill as a premium channel, you cancel through that provider. Most offer two paths: log into the provider’s site and remove Cinemax from your package, or call customer service and request the removal. The channel usually disappears from your lineup within a day or two.

Whether you get a prorated credit for the unused portion of the month depends on your provider and your state. Some states require cable companies to prorate refunds for mid-cycle cancellations; there is no universal federal rule. Check your next bill and confirm the premium channel charge is actually gone, because add-on charges sometimes survive a request that wasn’t fully processed on the provider’s end.

Confirm the Cancellation and Watch the Next Statement

Whichever route you used, screenshot the confirmation page or save the confirmation email. That is your proof if a charge shows up later. Then check your bank or credit card statement after the next expected billing date.

If a charge appears after you’ve confirmed the cancellation, contact the billing platform with your screenshot or email. Documented cancellations get resolved quickly.
