To cancel DashPass, open the DoorDash app or website, go to your account, select “Manage DashPass,” and tap “Cancel Membership.” Do it at least 24 hours before your next billing date, or you’ll be charged for another cycle. How to cancel DashPass depends slightly on where you signed up: if you subscribed through Apple, Google Play, Chase, or another partner, you have to cancel through that provider instead.
Cancel in the App or on the Website
The steps are the same on mobile and desktop:
- Open the DoorDash app or go to doordash.com and sign in.
- Tap the account icon (top-left on mobile, top-right on desktop).
- Select “Manage DashPass.”
- Tap “Cancel Membership.”
- Pick a reason from the list and tap “Select reason.”
- Tap “Cancel DashPass” on the final screen to confirm.
Expect DoorDash to try to keep you. A screen or two will show how much you’ve saved and offer alternatives before the final confirmation button appears. Keep clicking through.1DoorDash Help Center. How Do I Cancel My DashPass Subscription
The 24-Hour Billing Cutoff
Cancel at least 24 hours before your next scheduled payment date to avoid being billed for the next cycle. Cancel after that window and you’ll be charged for the upcoming period; your benefits will then continue until that cycle ends. Your next payment date is visible on the “Manage DashPass” screen inside your account settings.1DoorDash Help Center. How Do I Cancel My DashPass Subscription
This is where most people slip up. DashPass bills on the same calendar date each month (or annually, depending on your plan), and the cutoff is firm. If your renewal falls on the 15th and you cancel at 11 PM on the 14th, you’re likely getting charged. A calendar reminder a few days ahead helps.
On the annual plan, the 24-hour rule still applies, but since you’ve already paid for the full year, canceling mid-cycle just stops the renewal. Your benefits run through the end of the year, and there’s no partial refund for unused months.2DoorDash. What Is DashPass
If You Subscribed Through a Third Party
If you didn’t sign up directly through DoorDash, you can’t cancel through DoorDash. The subscription belongs to whichever platform you originally signed up through, and that’s where the cancellation has to happen. The DoorDash app will show DashPass as active but won’t give you a cancel button.1DoorDash Help Center. How Do I Cancel My DashPass Subscription
Apple App Store
If you subscribed on an iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app, tap your name at the top, go to “Subscriptions,” find DashPass, and tap “Cancel Subscription.” You can also manage this at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions in any browser.
Google Play Store
On Android, open the Google Play app, tap your profile icon, go to “Payments & subscriptions,” then “Subscriptions.” Find DashPass, tap it, and select “Cancel subscription.” Uninstalling the DoorDash app does not cancel the subscription; you have to cancel through Google Play.3Google Play Help. Chase, Max, and Other Partners
If your DashPass came bundled with a Chase credit card, a Max subscription, or another partner, log in to that provider’s account and look for linked benefits or digital memberships. The financial relationship is between you and the partner.
What Happens After You Cancel
DoorDash sends a confirmation email to the address on your account noting the last day your benefits remain active. You keep the reduced delivery fees and lower service charges through the end of the billing cycle you’ve already paid for; access doesn’t cut off the moment you cancel.1DoorDash Help Center. One exception: if you cancel during a free trial, benefits end immediately. There’s no grace period for trial members.2DoorDash. What Is DashPass
Your DoorDash account itself stays active. You can still order and pay standard delivery fees, and you can re-subscribe from the same “Manage DashPass” screen at any time.
Refunds
DoorDash’s refund policy for DashPass is narrow. If you cancel within 48 hours of your first subscription charge and haven’t placed any DashPass-eligible orders in that window, DoorDash may refund the fee at its discretion. After that window, or after you’ve used any DashPass benefits, the company generally does not offer refunds or prorated credits for the remaining time in your billing cycle.
If you believe you were charged after canceling, contact DoorDash support directly. There’s no automatic refund process; you’ll need to request it and explain what happened. Save your cancellation confirmation email as documentation.
When the Cancel Button Is Missing
Sometimes “Cancel Membership” doesn’t appear on the Manage DashPass screen. This can happen when a payment method has failed, when the subscription came through a third party, or because of an app glitch. A few things to try:
- Switch platforms. If the button is missing in the app, try doordash.com in a browser, or vice versa. The web version sometimes shows options the app hides.
- Use in-app chat. Open the “Orders” tab, tap any past order, select “Help,” then “It’s something else,” then “Contact support.” Say you want to cancel DashPass, and the automated system should walk you through it.
- Call support. DoorDash’s customer service line is 855-431-0459, available 24/7. A phone agent can process the cancellation.1DoorDash Help Center. How Do I Cancel My DashPass Subscription
If none of this works and charges keep appearing, your bank or credit card issuer can block future charges from DoorDash. Use this as a last resort. It won’t formally cancel the subscription on DoorDash’s end, and it could lead to a negative account balance or account suspension, but it stops the charges while you sort things out with support.
Pause Instead of Cancel
If you’re canceling only because you won’t use DoorDash for a while, pausing may fit better. DoorDash lets you temporarily freeze your membership so you stop paying without losing your account history or accumulated perks. On the “Manage DashPass” page, select “Pause Membership,” then confirm with “Pause DashPass.” DoorDash does not publicly specify a maximum pause duration, so check the pause screen for any limits before confirming.1DoorDash Help Center. If DoorDash Won’t Let You Cancel
Federal law requires any company using recurring online billing to provide a simple way to stop future charges, get your clear consent before charging you, and disclose material terms before collecting payment information. The FTC enforces these requirements against companies that make cancellation unreasonably difficult. If you’ve hit a wall, you can file a complaint at ftc.gov/complaint.4Federal Trade Commission.
