To cancel Feed the Children donations, call Donor Services at 1-800-627-4556, email info@feedthechildren.org, or log into your online donor account at feedthechildren.org/account. The phone line is open 24/7, and either phone or email will produce a confirmation you can keep.1Feed the Children. Contact Us If your next scheduled payment is only a day or two away, you may also need to involve your bank so that charge doesn’t slip through.
Three Ways to Cancel
The fastest route is the phone. Call 1-800-627-4556, tell the representative you want to stop all future recurring payments, and ask for a confirmation number or follow-up email before you end the call.1Feed the Children. Contact Us
If you’d rather have the request in writing, email info@feedthechildren.org. Use a subject line like “Cancel Recurring Donation” so it routes quickly, and include your full name, the email on file, and the last four digits of the card or account being charged. The timestamp on your sent email is useful evidence if a charge appears after cancellation.
You can also manage recurring gifts through the online donor portal at feedthechildren.org/account.2Feed the Children. My Account If the portal lets you cancel directly, that’s the quickest self-service option. If it only lets you view or edit payment details, call or email with the information you pulled from your account.
If You Donate Through PayPal
Recurring donations set up through PayPal need a second cancellation inside PayPal itself. Even after Feed the Children stops the charge on their end, PayPal can keep sending payments until you revoke the authorization in your account settings.
On the website, go to Settings, then Payments, then Subscriptions and Saved Businesses (sometimes labeled Automatic Payments). Find Feed the Children, select it, and cancel. In the app, open the menu, tap Subscriptions or Linked Businesses, select the merchant, and tap Stop Paying with PayPal.3PayPal. What Is an Automatic Payment and How Do I Update or Cancel One
What to Have Ready
Donor Services can usually find your record with just a name and the payment method on file, but having a few details upfront keeps the conversation short:
- The full name and email or mailing address you used when you signed up.
- Your donor ID, which typically appears on tax receipts or mailing labels from Feed the Children.
- Whether the donation runs on a credit card, an ACH bank debit, or PayPal, plus the last four digits of the card or account.
When Cancellation Takes Effect
Once Feed the Children processes the request, future charges stop. The one wrinkle is timing. ACH transfers and recurring card charges are often queued a few days in advance, so a cancellation submitted right before a scheduled payment may not catch that cycle. If your next donation date is within a few days, treat your bank as a safety net.
Federal law gives you an independent right to stop a preauthorized electronic debit. Under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, you can order your bank to block a recurring charge by notifying the bank at least three business days before the scheduled date, by phone or in writing.4Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 USC 1693e – Preauthorized Transfers If you give the notice by phone, the bank can require you to follow up in writing within 14 days; if you don’t, the stop payment can expire and later charges may go through.5Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. 1005.10 Preauthorized Transfers Banks typically charge $20 to $35 for the service.
After you cancel, watch your statements through the next billing cycle. If no charge appears, you’re done. Save any confirmation Feed the Children sends.
If a Charge Still Goes Through
Call Feed the Children first at 1-800-627-4556 and reference your cancellation confirmation. Charities will generally refund a charge that processed after a valid cancellation.1Feed the Children. Contact Us
If that doesn’t resolve it and the charge was an ACH debit, file an error dispute with your bank. Under Regulation E, you have 60 days from the date the bank sends the statement showing the charge to report it. The bank must investigate within 10 business days and, if it needs more time, must provisionally credit your account while it continues investigating for up to 45 days.6Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. 1005.11 Procedures for Resolving Errors Your cancellation email or confirmation number is the piece of evidence that carries the dispute, so keep it.
For credit card charges, the dispute runs through your card issuer’s chargeback process instead. Call the number on the back of the card, explain the charge was unauthorized, and send in the same cancellation documentation.
Stopping the Mail and Email Too
Canceling the money doesn’t stop the mail. Fundraising letters and emails keep coming unless you ask separately. If you want to handle both at once, mention it during your cancellation call.
