To cancel Guardio, sign in to your account, open the Subscription page, and cancel through the same channel that bills you: the Guardio dashboard if you paid by credit card or PayPal, the Apple App Store if you subscribed on an iPhone or iPad, or Google Play if you subscribed on Android. One thing to get straight before you start: deleting the app or removing the browser extension does not stop billing. You have to cancel the subscription itself, or the charges keep coming.
Check Your Payment Method First
Which steps work for you depends entirely on how you’re billed. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, only Apple or Google can stop the charges. Guardio cannot cancel those on its end, no matter how many emails you send.
To find your payment method, open the Guardio mobile app or sign in at app.guard.io on a desktop browser, go to Profile, then Subscription, and look at the Payment Method field. If it says Credit Card or PayPal, use the dashboard steps below. If it says App Store or Google Play, skip to the matching section.
This is where most people lose time. Someone who subscribed through the App Store can click around the Guardio website all afternoon and never find a cancel button that works for them.
Cancel Through the Guardio Dashboard
Use this path if you paid directly with a credit card or PayPal. A desktop browser is smoothest, but the mobile app works too.
From a desktop browser:
- Sign in and go to app.guard.io/settings/plan.
- Click Manage Plan next to your current plan.
- Under the Free plan, click Select.
- Click Cancel Anyway, then click Cancel Subscription to confirm.
From the Guardio mobile app:
- Tap the Profile icon.
- Tap Subscription, then Manage Subscription.
- Select the Free plan, tap Cancel Anyway, then Cancel Subscription.
Guardio will ask why you’re leaving and may show a retention screen. Click through it. Auto-renewal switches off as soon as you confirm, and your Premium protection stays active until the end of the billing period you already paid for.
Cancel Through the Apple App Store
If your Guardio subscription lists App Store as the payment method, Apple controls the billing. You cancel through your device settings, not through Guardio.
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top of the screen, then tap Subscriptions.
- Find and tap Guardio in the list.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Cancel Through Google Play
Android subscribers cancel through Google’s subscription manager. Guardio’s app and website cannot process this for you.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon in the top right.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Tap Guardio, then Cancel subscription.
- Follow the prompts to confirm.
What Happens After You Cancel
Canceling stops future charges but doesn’t cut off access you’ve already paid for. If you’re on a monthly plan and cancel ten days into the cycle, you keep Premium protection for the remaining days. Annual subscribers keep coverage until the renewal date. Your account then drops to the free version automatically.
Guardio sends a confirmation email with the subject line “Your Guardio Premium subscription has been canceled.” It shows the exact date your Premium coverage ends. If that email doesn’t arrive within a few hours, the cancellation may not have gone through. Check your Subscription page to confirm it shows the Free plan, and email support@guard.io if something looks off. Emailing support does not, by itself, cancel your subscription; you still need to complete the steps through your dashboard, the App Store, or Google Play.
Watch your bank or credit card statements for the next billing cycle. No new Guardio charge should appear after your coverage end date.
Refunds and the 3-Day Billing Review Window
Guardio does not offer a standard money-back guarantee. It does offer a 3-day window from the date of any charge to request a billing review. If you were accidentally moved to an annual plan or hit with an unwanted charge, email support@guard.io within those three days for the best chance of a resolution.
Outside that window, refunds are handled case by case. If you subscribed through Apple or Google Play, refund requests go through those platforms, since they processed the payment.
Deleting Your Account and Personal Data
Canceling is not the same as deleting your account. After cancellation, Guardio still holds your personal information, and your account reverts to the free tier. If you want your data removed entirely, Guardio’s privacy policy gives you the right to request erasure.
Email Guardio’s Data Protection Officer at my.privacy@guard.io and ask for deletion of your personal information. Guardio retains data for as long as you maintain an account, so if you want a clean break, request account deletion after your subscription ends.
