How to Cancel Humans of University Subscription: Web, iPhone, Google Play

To cancel a Humans of University subscription, you need to cancel through whichever platform is actually billing you: Stripe (if you signed up on the website), Apple (if you signed up through an iOS app), or Google Play (if you signed up on Android). The subscription runs $2.99 per month, and canceling stops future charges but won’t refund what you’ve already paid.

Find Out Who’s Charging You

Check your bank or credit card statement and look at the merchant name next to the charge. “Stripe” or “Humans of University” means you subscribed through the website. “Apple” or “Google” means the charge is running through your phone’s app store, and that’s where you have to cancel. You can also search your email for the original payment confirmation — Stripe receipts come from a stripe.com address, and Apple and Google send their own recognizable confirmations.

Getting this right is the whole game. Canceling in the wrong place does nothing to the charges.

Cancel on the Humans of University Website

Website subscriptions are billed through Stripe’s customer portal. Humans of University links to it from their privacy policy and terms of use page.1Humans of University. Privacy Policy and Terms of Use Open that link, enter the email address you used to sign up, and Stripe will send a verification code to that address, so you need to still have access to the inbox.

Once you’re in, select your active subscription and choose cancel. Confirm when Stripe asks. The cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and no further charges are scheduled after that.

Cancel on iPhone

If Apple is the merchant on your statement, cancel in iOS Settings:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap your name at the top to reach your Apple Account page.
  • Tap Subscriptions.
  • Select Humans of University, then tap Cancel Subscription.

If there’s no Cancel button and you see an expiration message in red text, the subscription is already canceled.2Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple Access continues through the end of the period you already paid for.

Cancel on Google Play

Open the Google Play app, go to your subscriptions page, select Humans of University, tap Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.3Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play

One warning: uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription. Google keeps billing until you explicitly cancel from the subscriptions menu. If you deleted the app weeks ago thinking that ended the charges, check now — you may still be paying.

If the Subscription Isn’t Listed Anywhere

If you go through the steps and the subscription doesn’t appear, you’re probably looking on the wrong platform. Try the other app store. If it’s missing from both Apple and Google, it’s almost certainly a website subscription and belongs in the Stripe portal.

If it’s genuinely nowhere, contact Humans of University directly or reach out to Stripe support. As a fallback, call the number on the back of your card and ask your bank to block future charges from that merchant. Banks can stop recurring billing from a specific company, but try the normal channels first.

Refunds and Timing

Humans of University states that all paid subscriptions are non-refundable.1Humans of University. Privacy Policy and Terms of Use You can cancel at any time to stop the next charge, but a charge that has already processed is final. Timing matters: cancel the day before your billing date and you save the month’s $2.99; cancel the day after and that payment is gone.

If you were charged after canceling, or you never authorized the subscription in the first place, your card issuer is the right next step. Most issuers let you dispute unauthorized recurring charges within 60 days of the statement date. Save your cancellation confirmation in case you need to show it.

Confirm It Actually Canceled

Watch for a confirmation email from Stripe, Apple, or Google after you cancel, and keep it. It’s your proof of when the cancellation happened, and it makes any later dispute simple.

You can also check the subscription menu directly. A canceled subscription shows an expiration date instead of a renewal date. On Apple it appears as expired in your Subscriptions list; on Google Play it moves to a canceled section; in the Stripe portal the status updates to show no future payments scheduled. If it still reads active, run the cancellation again or contact that platform’s support.
