How to Cancel Interfolio Subscription: Refund, PayPal, and Documents

To cancel an Interfolio subscription, email help@interfolio.com from the address on your account and ask to cancel Dossier Deliver. There is no cancel button inside the dashboard. If you set up payment through PayPal, you’ll want to cancel the recurring authorization on PayPal’s side too, so no further charges go through while Interfolio processes your request.

What to Put in the Email

Send the message from the primary email address on your account. Interfolio uses that address to verify you, and a request from any other inbox is likely to stall.1Interfolio. Dossier FAQs

Include:

  • Your full name as it appears on the account.
  • A clear statement that you want to cancel Dossier Deliver and stop future auto-renewal charges.
  • Whether you want to keep your free Dossier account or disable the account entirely. These are different requests.

Save your outgoing email and whatever confirmation comes back. If a charge posts after you’ve asked to cancel, that thread is your evidence for a dispute.

Cancel the PayPal Authorization Too

Emailing Interfolio stops the subscription on their end. If you pay through PayPal, the recurring authorization is a separate switch, and PayPal can keep releasing funds if you leave it on.

On the PayPal website, open Settings, then Payments, then Automatic Payments (or Subscriptions and Saved Businesses), find Interfolio, and cancel. In the PayPal app, open the menu, go to Subscriptions, select Interfolio, and choose Stop Paying with PayPal.2PayPal. What Is an Automatic Payment and How Do I Update or Cancel One Do both steps and no surprise charge can slip through.

Cancel the Subscription Without Losing Your Documents

Interfolio’s FAQ describes the action as “disabling your account,” which goes further than ending the paid plan. Be explicit in your email about which you want.

If you cancel only Dossier Deliver, your account drops to the free Dossier tier. You keep your stored letters of recommendation and materials, documents don’t expire, and you can still apply to positions hosted on Interfolio itself.1Interfolio. Dossier FAQs What you give up is the ability to send documents out to external institutions, which only the paid plan supports. If you return to the job market later, you can resubscribe without asking your references to resend anything.

If you ask to disable the account entirely, you risk losing access to those stored materials. Say clearly in the email: cancel Dossier Deliver, keep the free Dossier account.

Asking for a Refund

Interfolio does not publish a detailed refund policy for Dossier Deliver. If you just renewed and haven’t sent any deliveries this cycle, it’s reasonable to ask for a refund in the same email. State the renewal date, confirm you haven’t used any deliveries during the current billing period, and request a full refund of the annual fee. The closer to the charge date, the better your odds. Once you’ve used the subscription to send application materials, expect a denial.

If Interfolio turns you down and you believe the charge is unwarranted, your fallback is a dispute through your credit card issuer or through PayPal, depending on how you paid. The cancellation email on record helps.

Check Your Renewal Date First

Before you send anything, log in and look at your billing details. Dossier Deliver is an annual subscription that auto-renews, and it comes with up to 50 electronic or mail deliveries per year for a flat fee with no per-delivery charges on top.3Interfolio. Dossier Deliver If the renewal is a week away, move fast. If it’s months out, you may want to use the deliveries you’ve already paid for before dropping to the free tier.
