How to Cancel Madison Reed Subscription: Online, Phone, or Pause

To cancel a Madison Reed subscription, log in at madison-reed.com, open your account menu, select “My Memberships,” and click “Cancel My Membership,” or call customer service at 1-866-817-0814. Either route works, but you need to finish before your next order enters processing or you’ll be charged for another cycle.

Cancel Through Your Account Online

Sign in at madison-reed.com, click the account icon, and choose “My Memberships.” Scroll to the cancellation option and click “Cancel My Membership.” You’ll be asked to pick a reason, then confirm on the next screen. That last confirmation is the step that actually ends billing. Don’t close the tab until you see it.

Along the way, the site will offer to pause your shipments or shift your delivery date. If you’ve decided to leave, click past those screens to the final confirmation.

Cancel by Phone

If the website misbehaves or you’d rather speak to a person, call 1-866-817-0814. The line is staffed Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific. Say you want to cancel, and before you hang up, ask for a confirmation number or a confirmation email. That reference is your proof if a charge appears later.

You aren’t required to use the phone if you signed up online. Under the FTC’s updated Negative Option Rule, which took full effect in May 2025, sellers that let you subscribe online must let you cancel online too.1Federal Register. Negative Option Rule If the website’s cancellation flow breaks or pushes you to a phone call, note that when you file any complaint.

Time It Before Your Next Shipment Processes

Madison Reed starts preparing orders several days before the scheduled ship date, and once an order is processing, the charge is locked in. Open your account dashboard, find the next shipment date, and work backward. A day or two late and you’ll be billed for that cycle.

This is the trap most people fall into. They decide to cancel on the day the shipment is due and find it already charged. If your timing is tight, cancel now rather than later. You lose nothing by canceling early, because you’ll still receive any shipment already paid for.

Pausing Instead of Canceling

If you only need a break, Madison Reed lets you pause. Pausing is available through the mobile app or at a physical Hair Color Bar location, not on the website. Downloading the app to pause first gives you time to decide without losing your subscription pricing or saved color settings.

Confirm the Cancellation Went Through

Watch for two things after you cancel. First, a confirmation email should arrive within a few minutes. Save it. Second, log back in and check that your membership status shows as canceled with no upcoming shipments. If the dashboard still shows an active subscription, contact customer service and reference your confirmation.

Keep an eye on your card or bank statements for at least two billing cycles. Subscription services sometimes process a final charge that was queued before cancellation took effect, and catching it quickly makes resolution easier.

If a Shipment or Charge Slips Through

Madison Reed accepts returns of unused products in their original packaging within 30 days of the delivery date.2Madison Reed. Returns If a shipment went out because your cancellation was late, send the unopened kit back for a refund. Items marked final sale and gift cards are excluded. Products you’ve already opened or used aren’t eligible, so if you mixed the color, that charge is final.

If you canceled on time and were still charged, you can dispute the charge with your card issuer under the Fair Credit Billing Act. The deadline is 60 days from the date the statement showing the disputed charge was sent.3Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. 12 CFR 1026.13 – Billing Error Resolution Send a written dispute to the card issuer’s billing inquiries address, not the payment address, and attach your cancellation confirmation. The issuer must acknowledge within 30 days and resolve within two billing cycles.4Federal Trade Commission. Fair Credit Billing Act If Madison Reed makes cancellation unreasonably difficult, you can also file a complaint with the FTC at ftc.gov.1Federal Register. Negative Option Rule

Hair Color Bar Memberships Are Separate

The steps above cover the at-home color subscription. Madison Reed’s “Limitless Pro+” memberships for in-salon services at physical Hair Color Bar locations follow different rules. You have two business days from the initial purchase to cancel for a full refund, and only if you haven’t used any membership services in that window. After that, the purchase is final for the current period, which renews every 28 calendar days. You can cancel to prevent the next renewal but won’t get a refund for the current cycle.5Madison Reed. Hair Color Bar Membership Terms and Conditions If you have both a Hair Color Bar membership and an online subscription, cancel each one separately.

Deleting Your Account Data

Canceling stops future shipments and charges but doesn’t delete your account or personal data. Madison Reed’s privacy policy doesn’t outline a self-service process for full deletion of your profile or payment history.6Madison Reed. Privacy Policy To have your data removed, contact customer service in writing. If you live in a state with a comprehensive privacy law, mention your state when you ask, since your deletion rights are stronger there.
