To cancel Netflix on an iPhone, you first need to know who bills you. If Apple charges your Apple ID for Netflix, you cancel inside the Settings app. If Netflix charges you directly, the iPhone app and Settings menu can’t help; you have to open a browser and cancel at netflix.com. Either way takes about a minute once you’re in the right place.
Check Who Bills You First
Open Settings, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. If Netflix appears in that list, Apple handles your billing. If it doesn’t appear, Netflix is billing you directly, or a third party like T-Mobile, Verizon, or Xfinity is.
Your statement confirms it too. Apple-billed charges post as “Apple.com/bill.” Netflix-billed charges post as “Netflix.”
Cancel in iPhone Settings When Apple Bills You
If Netflix showed up in your Subscriptions list, the whole process happens on your phone:
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Netflix.
- Scroll down and tap Cancel Subscription. A red expiration message instead of a button means it’s already canceled.
The cancellation registers immediately, but you keep watching until the current billing cycle ends.1Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription from Apple
Cancel at Netflix.com When Netflix Bills You
If Netflix isn’t in your Subscriptions list, open Safari (or any browser) on your iPhone and go to netflix.com. Sign in, then:
- Tap your profile icon in the top corner and tap Account.
- Tap Cancel Membership.
- Tap Finish Cancellation to confirm.

What About Bundles Through T-Mobile, Verizon, or Xfinity
If Netflix came with your phone plan or internet service, canceling the bundle through your provider doesn’t always end Netflix’s charges. If you linked an existing Netflix account to the deal, Netflix will start charging whatever payment method you had on file before.3T-Mobile. Netflix Support
To be safe, drop the benefit with your carrier, then sign in at netflix.com and cancel the membership there too. Watch your statements for a cycle or two to make sure nothing slips through.
Deleting the App Does Nothing
Removing Netflix from your home screen, signing out, or wiping your phone doesn’t cancel anything. The charges keep coming until you complete the steps above.2Netflix Help Center. How to Cancel Netflix
What Happens After You Cancel
You keep streaming through the end of your current billing period. Cancel on day five of a monthly cycle and you still have the rest of the month.4Netflix Help Center. Charged After Canceling Netflix
Netflix holds your viewing history, recommendations, and profile data for about 10 months after your access ends. Resubscribe in that window and everything comes back. Wait longer and the data may be gone for good. There are no cancellation fees.
Can You Get a Refund
Netflix’s standard policy is no refunds. You get access through the end of your billing cycle instead of money back for unused days. Netflix has occasionally made exceptions for unauthorized charges, duplicate billing, or renewals canceled within a day or two, but you’d have to contact support and ask.
If Apple billed you, Netflix can’t refund the charge at all. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the Netflix charge, and select Request a Refund. Apple decides case by case, and your odds are better the sooner you ask and the less you’ve watched since the renewal.5Apple Support. Subscriptions and Billing
The cleanest way to avoid the whole refund question is to cancel at least a day before your renewal date. You can find that date in Settings under Subscriptions if Apple bills you, or on the Account page at netflix.com if Netflix bills you. Since access continues through the cycle either way, there’s no reason to wait.
