You can cancel an OC Register subscription three ways: online at myaccount.ocregister.com, by phone at 714-796-7000, or by email to service@scng.com. The online portal is the fastest, and California law requires the Register to offer it if you signed up online. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and no refund is issued for time already paid.1Orange County Register. Digital Subscription Frequently Asked Questions

Digital-only subscribers can find it on a recent billing statement or inside the subscriber portal after logging in.
Refunds and Final Billing

Your cancellation takes effect at the end of the cycle you’ve already paid for, and you keep access to digital content and print delivery until that date.1Orange County Register. If Charges Continue After You Cancel
Check your bank or credit card statements for the next two billing cycles. If a charge appears after your cancellation confirmation, call customer service first with your confirmation number and the dates of the charges. Most post-cancellation charges are system errors and reverse quickly.
If customer service doesn’t resolve it, dispute the charge with your credit card company or bank. Send them your cancellation confirmation and the dates of the later charges. Chargebacks for recurring charges after a documented cancellation are commonly resolved in the cardholder’s favor.
For persistent problems, file a complaint with the California Attorney General’s office or the FTC. Both agencies track automatic renewal violations.
Your Right to an Easy Cancellation
California Business and Professions Code Section 17602 requires that any business offering online sign-up for an auto-renewing subscription also allow online cancellation, without extra steps designed to slow you down. The business must provide either a prominent cancel button inside account settings or a pre-formatted cancellation email you can send immediately. If a retention offer or discount appears during cancellation, the site must also show a “click to cancel” option so you can move past it.4California Legislative Information.
