How to Cancel Pearson eTextbook Subscription and Get a Refund

To cancel a Pearson eTextbook subscription, use the same platform that charged you: your Pearson+ account if Pearson billed you directly, your iPhone or iPad settings if Apple did, or the Google Play Store if you subscribed on Android. You can get a full refund if you cancel within 14 days of your initial purchase. After that, the fee is nonrefundable and your access continues until the current period ends.

Check Your Statement First

Before you click anything, look at your bank or credit card statement and see who actually charged you. If the line item reads “Pearson,” you cancel on the Pearson+ website. If it reads “Apple” or “Apple.com/bill,” you cancel in your iPhone or iPad settings. If it reads “Google Play,” you cancel in the Play Store app.

This is the single most common reason a cancellation appears to fail. People cancel on pearson.com, but the billing runs through Apple, and the charges keep arriving. Pearson can’t stop a charge it doesn’t control. Match the name on your statement to the right process below.

Cancel Through Pearson+

Sign in at pearson.com using the same username you used when you bought the eTextbook, then open “My account.” Your active eTextbook appears there with a “Cancel and refund” option next to it. Select it and follow the prompts.1Pearson. Pearson+ Payments If you don’t remember which email you used, search your inboxes for the Pearson+ welcome message.2Pearson. Pearson+ Account Management

If you’d rather keep access through the end of the period you already paid for, turn off auto-renewal instead of requesting a refund. Pearson’s subscription agreement requires you to turn off auto-renewal by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the last day of your current subscription period to stop the next charge.3Pearson. Cancel Through Apple

If Apple is billing you, use your device:

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Tap your name at the top.
  • Tap Subscriptions.
  • Tap Pearson+.
  • Tap Cancel Subscription.

If you don’t see a cancel button and there’s an expiration message in red, the subscription is already canceled.4Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription from Apple

Cancel Through Google Play

If the charge shows Google Play:

  • Open the Google Play Store app.
  • Tap your profile icon.
  • Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  • Select Pearson+.
  • Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.

Cancel before your renewal date, not on it. Google processes the charge on the renewal date itself, so canceling that same day won’t reverse the payment.5Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play

The 14-Day Refund Window

Pearson gives a full refund if you cancel within 14 days of your initial subscription term. You claim it through the same “Cancel and refund” option in “My account” on the Pearson+ website. The refund option becomes available one hour after purchase, not immediately.6Pearson. eTextbooks in Pearson+

If you take the refund, your access ends right away. After the 14-day window closes, the fee is nonrefundable and Pearson does not credit partially used periods. Your only option at that point is to turn off auto-renewal and use the eTextbook until the term runs out.3Pearson. Checkout Subscription Agreement

One boundary worth knowing: if you bought your eTextbook through a campus bookstore using an access code, the refund doesn’t run through Pearson at all. You return the access code to the bookstore within 14 days of activating it.6Pearson. eTextbooks in Pearson+

Confirm It Actually Stopped

Whichever platform you used, look for a confirmation email from Pearson, Apple, or Google, and save it. If a surprise charge shows up later, that email is your proof. You can also verify the status by signing back in to Pearson+ and checking “My account,” or by returning to the subscriptions screen on your phone. If you turned off auto-renewal instead of taking a refund, the dashboard will show the change and access will simply end when the paid period does.3Pearson. Checkout Subscription Agreement
