To cancel a Perplexity Pro subscription, go to the platform where you originally signed up: the Perplexity website, Apple, or Google Play. Canceling on the wrong platform will not stop the charges. You keep access to Pro features until the end of the billing period you already paid for, and Perplexity does not issue prorated refunds for unused time.1Perplexity. Perplexity Terms of Service
Canceling on the Perplexity Website
If you signed up on the website, your payments run through Stripe. Click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner, open your account settings, and find the subscription section. You’ll be sent to Stripe’s billing portal to confirm the cancellation. You can also cancel by emailing support@perplexity.ai.1Perplexity. Perplexity Terms of Service
Once it goes through, your dashboard should show an expiration date instead of an upcoming renewal date. If it still shows a renewal, the cancellation likely didn’t take, and you could be charged $20 per month or $200 per year at the next cycle.2Perplexity. Canceling Through Apple
If you subscribed through the iPhone or iPad app, Apple handles the billing, and canceling inside Perplexity’s own settings won’t stop the charges. Go through Apple instead:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Find Perplexity and tap it.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
If there’s no Cancel button and you see an expiration message in red, the subscription is already canceled.3Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple
Canceling Through Google Play
On Android, open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, go to Payments and Subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Select Perplexity and cancel. If you subscribed through Google Play, only Google Play can stop the charges.
What Happens After You Cancel
A paid subscription keeps working through the end of the period you already paid for. Free trials work differently. Perplexity runs promotional trials through partners like Samsung, PayPal, and mobile carriers, and some run as long as 12 months. Many require a card on file, and when the trial ends the subscription automatically converts to a paid plan at the standard rate.
Here’s where people get caught: if you cancel a free trial early, Perplexity may cut off access right away rather than letting you finish the remaining trial time. On a long promotional trial, set a calendar reminder a week or two before it expires so you can cancel without losing the free time prematurely and without forgetting and getting charged.
Refunds
Perplexity’s terms of service state “No Subscription Refunds” under Section 2.4, and they do not offer prorated refunds for unused time.1Perplexity. Perplexity Terms of Service If you miss the cancellation window before a renewal, you’re generally stuck with that charge.
If you paid through Apple, request a refund separately at reportaproblem.apple.com. Sign in, choose “Request a refund,” pick a reason, and select the Perplexity charge. Apple typically responds within 24 to 48 hours, and approval is at their discretion.4Apple Support. Request a Refund for Apps or Content That You Bought From Apple Google Play refund policies vary by purchase type and timing; for subscription renewals you’d generally need to contact Perplexity as the developer or go through Google’s support.5Google Help. If You’re Still Being Charged After Canceling
If you can’t get a refund through any of the channels above and believe you were charged after properly canceling, you have the right under federal law to contact your bank or credit card company and stop future preauthorized payments. Your financial institution must honor that request if you notify them at least three business days before the next scheduled charge.
Canceling Is Not the Same as Deleting Your Account
Canceling stops the payments but leaves your account, search history, and profile in place. Deleting your account is a separate step, and Perplexity’s help center warns that deleting your account without canceling the subscription first can result in continued charges.6Comet Browser Help Center. Self-Serve Data Deletion If you want both, cancel first, then delete.
