To cancel a Privacy Hawk subscription, use the same channel that bills you: cancel inside the Privacy Hawk app or email support@privacyhawk.com if you subscribed directly, cancel through Apple’s Subscriptions settings if you signed up on an iPhone, or cancel through Google Play if you signed up on Android. There are no cancellation fees and no minimum commitment. One detail worth knowing before you click: canceling stops future charges but doesn’t refund time you’ve already paid for, so timing the cancellation close to your renewal date gets you the most value.
Figure Out Who’s Billing You
Before you cancel anything, check who actually charges your card. Privacy Hawk subscriptions can run through Apple’s App Store, Google Play, or a direct purchase from Privacy Hawk. Each route has its own cancellation process, and canceling in the wrong place does nothing.
Look at your original purchase confirmation email or your bank statement. If the charge shows up as Apple or Google, the platform is handling billing and you need to cancel there. Canceling inside the Privacy Hawk app alone won’t stop Apple or Google from charging you.
Canceling a Direct Subscription
If you subscribed through Privacy Hawk’s website or signed up in the app without going through Apple or Google, you have two options.
The fastest is opening the Privacy Hawk app, going to your account settings, and following the cancellation prompts. The app walks you through a few confirmation screens, and your subscription status should change once the process completes.
You can also email support@privacyhawk.com and request cancellation. This is the better route if you’ve lost access to the app, forgotten your password, or hit a technical issue with the in-app flow. Include the email address tied to your account so support can locate it quickly. Save the confirmation email you get back; if a billing dispute comes up later, that’s your proof.
Canceling Through Apple
If the charge on your statement comes from Apple, cancel through iOS:
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap your name at the top of the screen.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select Privacy Hawk from the list.
- Tap Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll down to find the button. If you see an expiration message in red text instead, the subscription is already canceled.
Apple processes the cancellation immediately, but you keep access to Premium or Platinum features until the end of your current billing period.
Canceling Through Google Play
For Android users who subscribed through Google Play, cancellation has to go through Google. Uninstalling the Privacy Hawk app does not cancel the subscription, and charges will keep hitting your account until you cancel explicitly.
- Open the Google Play app, or go to play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions in a browser.
- Select Privacy Hawk from your active subscriptions.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and follow the remaining prompts.
Google confirms the cancellation on screen and usually sends an email receipt. As with Apple, your access continues through the end of the paid period.
What Happens After You Cancel
Canceling doesn’t cut you off right away. Your subscription stays active until the end of your current billing period, whether that’s a month or a year from your last payment. During that window you still get full access to whatever tier you were paying for: Premium at $19.99 per month or $74.99 per year, Platinum at $29.99 per month or $124.99 per year.
Once the period ends, the account goes inactive and no further charges post.
Privacy Hawk’s terms state you won’t get a refund for the remainder of your current billing period. To avoid paying for time you won’t use, cancel a day or two before your renewal date rather than right after a charge posts. You can find your renewal date in your account settings or in the subscription management screen on Apple or Google.
Deleting Your Data Is a Separate Step
Canceling the subscription is not the same as deleting your data. Privacy Hawk is built around scanning and managing your personal information, so it holds a meaningful amount about you. Canceling stops the billing and eventually the service, but the data you handed over may still sit on their servers.
According to Privacy Hawk’s FAQ, you can view what the company has stored about you inside the app and request deletion of all your data at any time. If you want a clean break, submit that deletion request before your access expires. Once your account goes inactive, getting the request processed may require a separate email to support@privacyhawk.com.
The company doesn’t publish a retention timeline for how long data persists after account closure, so don’t assume it disappears on its own.
If You’re Still Being Charged
If charges continue after you’ve canceled, the usual cause is canceling through the wrong channel: you stopped the subscription inside the Privacy Hawk app, but Apple or Google is still billing you because the platform-level subscription was never touched. Open your Apple or Google subscription settings and confirm the status shows canceled or expired.
If everything shows canceled and the charges continue, email support@privacyhawk.com with your cancellation confirmation and a screenshot of the charge. For Apple or Google-billed subscriptions, you can also dispute the charge through Apple’s Report a Problem page or Google Play’s support flow.
As a last resort, your bank or credit card issuer can reverse unauthorized recurring charges. Under federal law governing electronic fund transfers, you have the right to stop preauthorized recurring payments by notifying your financial institution at least three business days before the next scheduled transfer. A written request to your bank is the most reliable way to make the stop-payment stick.
