How to Cancel Project Lean Nation and Stop Charges

To cancel Project Lean Nation, email a clear cancellation notice to info@projectleannation.com or use the account termination tools inside the app or website. For open-ended subscriptions, the cancellation takes effect three days after the company receives your notice.1Project LeanNation. Project LeanNation Terms and Conditions – Section: Account Termination If you originally signed up through the Apple App Store, you have to cancel through your Apple account instead, because Apple handles the billing.

Sending the Cancellation Notice

Project Lean Nation’s terms give you two routes: the in-app or on-site termination tools, or a direct “clear and unambiguous termination notice” to the company.1Project LeanNation. Project LeanNation Terms and Conditions – Section: Account Termination If you prefer the direct route, use one of these:

  • Email: info@projectleannation.com
  • Mail: Project LeanNation Franchising Inc., 850 University Ave. STE 2, Rochester, NY 14607

There’s no required template. Include your full name, the email address on your account, and a plain statement that you are cancelling. A line like “I am cancelling my Project Lean Nation subscription effective immediately” is enough. If you email, ask for a reply confirming receipt. If you mail a letter, send it certified with return receipt so you have proof of delivery.

Timing depends on your plan type. For open-ended subscriptions that renew indefinitely, cancellation takes effect three days after Project Lean Nation receives your notice. For fixed-term subscriptions, the terms say termination isn’t possible until the period you’ve already paid for has expired.1Project LeanNation. Project LeanNation Terms and Conditions – Section: Account Termination If you’ve paid for four weeks of meals, you’ll ride out those four weeks before the account closes. Send your notice well before the next renewal date so it’s on file in time.

If You Signed Up Through the Apple App Store

Subscriptions bought through Apple are managed through Apple. Project Lean Nation’s terms are explicit that you cancel through your Apple account settings in that case, not through the company.2Project LeanNation. Project LeanNation Terms and Conditions – Section: Subscriptions Handled via Apple Account Apple also requires that you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, or you’ll be charged for the next cycle.

On an iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, find Project Lean Nation, and tap Cancel. On a Mac, open the App Store, click your name, go to Account Settings, and manage the subscription there. Screenshot the confirmation. Emailing Project Lean Nation won’t stop an Apple-processed charge.

The Seven-Day Refund Window for New Members

This is separate from cancellation, but worth knowing if you just started. New members who have completed their initial consultation and purchased their first week of a Weekly Lifestyle or Athlete plan can request a full refund within seven days of receiving the first order if they’re unhappy with the food or coaching.3Project LeanNation. Money-Back, Satisfaction Guarantee Contact the specific Project Lean Nation store where you signed up and explain why.

The guarantee is limited to one refund per household and covers only the initial purchase. Add-ons, upgrades, and later orders are excluded, as are delivery and handling fees.3Project LeanNation. Money-Back, Satisfaction Guarantee Approved refunds go back to the original payment method within 14 business days. Past the seven days, the standard cancellation steps above are your route.

If Charges Keep Appearing After You Cancel

You have federal protections if a charge slips through after you’ve sent a valid cancellation. The right tool depends on whether you paid by debit or credit card.

Debit Card

The Electronic Fund Transfer Act lets you stop a preauthorized transfer by notifying your bank at least three business days before the next scheduled charge.4Office of the Law Revision Counsel. United States Code Title 15 – 1693e Preauthorized Transfers You can call or write. If you call, the bank may ask for written confirmation within 14 days; without it, the oral stop-payment order expires after 14 days.5eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.10 – Preauthorized Transfers A stop-payment order tells your bank not to pay; it does not cancel the subscription. Use it as a backup after you’ve sent the cancellation notice, not instead of one.

Credit Card

For a credit card charge after cancellation, the Fair Credit Billing Act lets you dispute a billing error in writing to your card issuer within 60 days of the statement that includes the charge. Include your name, account number, the date and amount of the charge, and a short explanation (“I cancelled this subscription on [date] and should not have been charged”). A charge for services after a valid cancellation qualifies as goods or services not delivered in accordance with the agreement.6Office of the Law Revision Counsel. United States Code Title 15 – 1666 Correction of Billing Errors The issuer must acknowledge the dispute within 30 days and resolve it within two billing cycles, up to 90 days. Your cancellation notice and any confirmation from Project Lean Nation are the evidence that wins the dispute.

Separately, the FTC’s Click-to-Cancel rule, finalized in late 2024, requires sellers to make cancellation at least as easy as sign-up and bars drawn-out cancellation hurdles.7Federal Trade Commission. Federal Trade Commission Announces Final Click-to-Cancel Rule If you hit obstacles that go beyond what the sign-up involved, you can file a complaint at ftc.gov/complaint.

Don’t Just Block the Charges

Blocking your card or placing a stop-payment without sending a cancellation notice is where people get into trouble. From the company’s side, the subscription is still active. Unpaid meal plan accounts tend to move from automated reminders to direct outreach and, after enough time, to a third-party collections agency; industry practice in the fitness and nutrition space is to escalate to outside collections after roughly 90 days of nonpayment. A collections entry can land on your credit report and stay there for years, and the balance the company says you owe doesn’t vanish because the card stopped working. Cancel through the proper channel first. Then, if needed, block charges as a backup once you have written proof the cancellation went through.

Records to Keep

Save the cancellation confirmation, any emails with Project Lean Nation, certified mail receipts, and bank or card statements for at least 12 months after the last charge. The 60-day Fair Credit Billing Act window runs from each statement, so documentation across several cycles matters.6Office of the Law Revision Counsel. United States Code Title 15 – 1666 Correction of Billing Errors A quick screenshot of the confirmation screen takes seconds and spares you a long argument with a billing department later.
