To cancel a Shadow PC subscription, log in at shadow.tech, open the “PCs” section of your account, select the subscription you want to end, and click “Cancel my subscription” at the bottom of the page. The whole thing takes about two minutes. The parts that trip people up come before and after the click: an unpaid balance will block the request, add-ons like Shadow Drive don’t cancel with it, and the files on your C: drive are deleted seven days after your subscription ends.
Check These Two Things First
Shadow requires all unpaid balances to be paid in full before you or their support team can make any changes to your subscription. If a past invoice is sitting open on your account, settle it before you try to cancel.
Then figure out where you originally subscribed. If you signed up on Shadow’s website, you cancel through your Shadow account. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you have to cancel through that store, because Shadow doesn’t control the billing. A quick look at your bank or card statement will tell you which one has been charging you.
Current Shadow plans are month-to-month with no long-term contract, so there’s no early termination fee. If you’re on an older 12-month commitment plan from a previous signup period, check your account page for any remaining balance before proceeding. And if the point of canceling is to stop the next charge, submit the request before your renewal date; Shadow does not prorate.

Stay on the page until you see the confirmation message so you have proof the request went through.
After you confirm, your cloud PC stays fully accessible until your current billing period ends.2Shadow. Frequently Asked Questions You will not get a prorated refund for the remaining days. Use that window to pull your files off the machine.
Canceling Through Apple or Google Play
If you subscribed in a mobile app, Shadow’s own account page won’t show a cancel button. You have to go through the store that handles your billing.
- Apple (iPhone or iPad): Open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, find Shadow, and tap Cancel Subscription. If you’re on a free or discounted trial, Apple requires you to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged for the next period.3Apple. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple
- Google Play (Android): Open the Google Play app, tap your profile icon, go to Payments & Subscriptions, then Subscriptions, select Shadow, and tap Cancel subscription. Google lets you keep using the service through the end of what you’ve already paid for.4Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play
Both platforms send a confirmation email. Save it. If a charge appears after you thought you canceled, that email is your fastest route to a refund dispute.
Add-Ons Don’t Cancel Automatically
Canceling your Shadow PC does not cancel Shadow Drive or any other add-on. Each one is a separate subscription and needs its own cancellation.1Shadow. Cancel my Shadow subscription To cancel Shadow Drive, go to the “Shadow Drive” section on your account page, click “Edit” next to the plan, and click “Cancel my subscription.”
Extra storage on the D: drive works differently. You can remove it from your account page at any time, and the removal takes effect at your next renewal date.5Shadow. How to Add or Remove Storage on Your Shadow PC Back up anything on that drive first, because it is deleted when the storage is removed.
One exception catches people out. You cannot remove the Power Upgrade from an existing subscription on its own. To move from a Power-tier plan down to a standard one, you have to cancel the whole subscription and sign up again on the lower tier. That means a gap in service and losing the current state of your virtual machine.
Your Files Have a Seven-Day Clock
Once your billing period ends, Shadow does not keep your virtual machine sitting around. Your primary C: drive storage is retained for seven days after the subscription ends, then permanently deleted. Additional storage on the D: drive gets no grace period and cannot be recovered once the subscription terminates.1Shadow. Cancel my Shadow subscription Shadow Drive is stricter still: data is deleted immediately when that subscription ends, with no retention window.
Move anything you want to keep before your last day of access. Download files to your local computer, push them to a personal cloud account, or copy them to an external drive through Shadow’s USB-over-IP feature. The seven-day window on the C: drive is a safety net, not a plan.
What to Expect on Refunds
Shadow generally does not offer prorated refunds for unused days in a billing cycle. You paid for the month, you keep access until the month ends, and that’s where it stops.
If you subscribed through Apple or Google, refund requests go through those platforms, not Shadow. Each has its own refund process, and both tend to be more willing to help on recent charges. If you were billed after a confirmed cancellation, your confirmation email and a screenshot of your account dashboard are the evidence that will move the dispute fastest.
