To cancel a Six Flags membership, you have to finish your 12 monthly payments first, then submit the cancellation form on Six Flags’ member support portal at least 30 days before your next billing date. The form is not inside your regular account dashboard, which is where most people get stuck. Below is how to cancel your Six Flags membership cleanly, what to have ready, and how to stop charges if they continue after you’ve cancelled.
The 12-Month Lock-In Comes First
Every Six Flags membership commits you to 12 consecutive monthly payments. You cannot cancel before those 12 payments are complete. If you try to stop the charges early by blocking your card or closing the account it’s on, Six Flags treats the remaining balance as owed and may send it to collections. Some membership tiers also carry a refundable security deposit, and missed or late payments during the commitment period can cost you that deposit.
There is no buyout. You cannot pay a lump sum to exit early. The one documented exception involves members whose home park was among the locations sold after the 2024 Cedar Fair merger; for those members, Six Flags said, “We are providing the flexibility for you to cancel after the sale is completed should you choose to do so, even if you have not yet fulfilled your minimum term commitment.”1Six Flags. Looking Forward: A New Chapter for Six Flags If your home park wasn’t sold, the 12-month rule applies with no exception.
What to Have Ready Before You Start
Six Flags verifies your identity through a few specific data points, and the cancellation form will reject you if any of them don’t match what’s on file. Pull these together first:
- Your Membership Account ID, which is printed on your physical membership card and included in the confirmation email from sign-up. It is not the same as your pass number.
- The exact email address you used when you enrolled. If you’ve changed emails since, the system may not find your account.
- Your full name as it appears on the membership, not a nickname or short form.
If you no longer have your card or the original confirmation email, log in at mypass.sixflags.com, where the account number sometimes appears next to your pass number. Search every email account you might have used at sign-up. If you still can’t find it, contact Six Flags through the form at sixflags.com/contact-us and ask for your account number before you try to cancel.2Six Flags. Canceling Online
The cancellation form is not in your regular Six Flags account. It sits on a separate page: feedback.sixflags.com/membersupport/cancelyourmembership.aspx. You can also get there through your home park’s membership page: go to sixflags.com, find the “Members” or “Manage Your Membership” page for your park, click “Manage Account,” and look for the cancellation option inside the support portal.3Six Flags. Six Flags Great Escape – Manage Your Membership
Once you’re in the form, enter your Membership Account ID and the rest of your identifying details. The system walks you through several confirmation screens, and some of them may offer a discounted month or added perks to keep you. Click through if you’ve decided. Keep going until you hit a final confirmation. Save or screenshot whatever the system gives you at the end, whether that’s a confirmation number, a reference code, or a message stating your cancellation was received. That record is your proof if charges keep landing after your cancellation date.
Canceling by Mail
If the online portal is broken or you want a paper trail, send a written cancellation request. After the Cedar Fair merger, Six Flags Entertainment’s corporate headquarters moved to 8701 Red Oak Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28217.4Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. Contact Us – Contact Information Address your letter to Six Flags Membership Cancellations at that address.
Include your full name, Membership Account ID, the email address on file, and a clear statement requesting cancellation. Send it USPS Certified Mail with Return Receipt Requested. The signed green card that comes back proves the date Six Flags received your letter, which is the evidence you need if there’s ever a dispute about your notice date. Standard mail leaves you with nothing to show.
Timing It So You Don’t Pay Another Month
After the 12-month commitment ends, the membership rolls month to month, and you have to cancel before your next billing cycle to avoid another charge. Six Flags requires advance notice, and cancelling too close to your billing date usually means at least one more monthly payment goes through. Submit your cancellation at least 30 days before your next scheduled charge to be safe.
Check your bank or credit card statements to find the exact date Six Flags pulls its payment each month. That recurring date is your deadline anchor. If a charge posts after you’ve cancelled, your saved confirmation or certified mail receipt is what you’ll use to dispute it.
You Cannot Pause or Freeze the Membership
Six Flags does not offer a way to temporarily suspend billing and resume later. If you want to stop paying during the off-season or while you’re away, cancellation is the only option. When you’re ready to come back, you’ll have to buy a new membership, and that resets the 12-month commitment clock.
If Your Home Park Was Sold in the Merger
Seven locations were sold as part of the 2024 merger, and Six Flags waived the 12-month minimum commitment for members whose home park was among them. If that applies to you and you haven’t used the option yet, contact member support to confirm your eligibility before starting the standard cancellation.1Six Flags. Looking Forward: A New Chapter for Six Flags Everyone else uses the process above.
If Charges Continue After You Cancel
Unauthorized charges after cancellation are the most common complaint from former members. Start with Six Flags member support, send them your confirmation screenshot or certified mail receipt, and give them a reasonable window to fix it.
If that doesn’t work, dispute the charges with your bank or credit card company and attach your cancellation confirmation as evidence. Some members have reported Six Flags sending disputed amounts to collections, so make sure your documentation is solid before you go this route. A chargeback backed by clear proof of cancellation is a strong position. Disputing charges that fall inside your 12-month commitment is a different situation and can backfire.
Your Backstop Under the FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule
The Federal Trade Commission finalized its click-to-cancel rule in October 2024, requiring sellers to make cancellation as easy as sign-up for any recurring subscription.5Federal Trade Commission. Federal Trade Commission Announces Final Click-to-Cancel Rule Making It Easier for Consumers to End Recurring Subscriptions The rule covers “almost all negative option programs in any media,” which includes monthly memberships like Six Flags. Most provisions took effect in mid-2025.
In practice, if you signed up online, Six Flags cannot require you to call, mail a letter, or visit a park to cancel. If the online portal is broken, unresponsive, or buries you under an excessive number of retention screens, that may violate the rule. File a complaint at ftc.gov/complaint if you believe the process is deliberately obstructive.
