To cancel a Starz subscription, you go to whichever service is actually billing you: Starz directly if you signed up at starz.com, or Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Hulu, Roku, or YouTube TV if you subscribed through one of those platforms. Starz cannot stop a charge collected by a third party, so knowing how to cancel your Starz subscription starts with identifying who is charging your card.
Check Who Is Billing You
Look at your most recent bank or credit card statement. A charge labeled “Starz” or “Starz Direct” means you subscribed at starz.com and cancel there. A charge from Apple, Google, Amazon, Hulu, Roku, or YouTube TV means that company is the biller, and only that company can end the subscription.
You can also check inside the Starz mobile app. Tap “More” at the bottom right, then “Settings,” then “Account Management.” Your subscription provider is listed there.
Cancel a Direct Starz Subscription at Starz.com
If Starz is billing you directly at $11.99 per month, cancel from a web browser. The app redirects to a browser anyway.
- Go to starz.com and sign in.
- Click the user icon at the upper right and choose “Settings.”
- Under “Billing Plan & Information,” click “Cancel Subscription.”
- Follow the prompts and click “Submit.”
You keep access to Starz content through the end of the current billing period.
Cancel Through Apple on iPhone or iPad
If you subscribed through the App Store, Apple controls the billing. Starz customer support cannot cancel it for you.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap “Subscriptions.”
- Tap Starz, then “Cancel Subscription,” and confirm.
Access continues until the current billing cycle ends.
Cancel Through Google Play on Android
Android subscribers who signed up through Google Play cancel in the Play Store, not the Starz app.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon at the upper right.
- Go to “Payments & subscriptions,” then “Subscriptions.”
- Tap Starz, then “Cancel subscription,” and follow the prompts.
You keep access through the remainder of the paid period.
Cancel Through Amazon Prime Video
Starz as a Prime Video channel runs $11.99 per month after any promotional pricing expires.
- Sign in to your Amazon account and open “Account & Settings,” then “Your Subscriptions.”
- Find the Starz add-on.
- Click “Unsubscribe” and confirm.
The charge drops off your next billing cycle, and you retain access until the current period ends.
Cancel Through Hulu
Hulu carries Starz as a premium add-on at $11.99 per month.
- Sign in to your Hulu account page in a web or mobile browser.
- Go to “Your Subscription.”
- Click “Manage Add-ons.”
- Find Starz and toggle the checkmark to an “X” to remove it.
The change takes effect at your next Hulu billing date, and Starz stays watchable until then.
Cancel Through Roku
If you subscribed to Starz directly through your Roku, Roku is the biller.
- From the Roku home screen, highlight the Starz channel.
- Press the Star (★) button on the remote.
- Select “Manage subscription.”
- Select “Turn off auto-renew.”
Your subscription stays active through the end of the current billing cycle.
Cancel Through YouTube TV
YouTube TV subscribers who added Starz as a channel can cancel from the app or a browser.
- Open the YouTube TV app or go to tv.youtube.com and sign in.
- Click your profile photo, then “Settings,” then “Membership.”
- Uncheck the box next to Starz.
- Select “Agree” to finalize.
One catch: if you’re on a free trial of the Starz add-on through YouTube TV, canceling ends access immediately rather than letting the trial run out.
Free Trials Convert Automatically
Starz and its distribution partners often run free trials of about seven days. If you don’t cancel before midnight Eastern Time on the last day of the trial, your card is charged the full subscription price. Starz’s terms of use state that they are not obligated to remind you the trial is ending.
Set a calendar alert for the day before the trial expires. Waiting until the final day and forgetting is the most common way people end up with a charge they didn’t want.
Refunds and Access After Cancellation
Starz does not offer refunds, credits, or prorated billing. Once you’re charged for a billing period, that payment is final under their terms of use. You do keep full access through the end of the period you paid for. On most platforms the account status will show something like “Canceling” or “Expires on [date]” to confirm it won’t renew.
Third-party platforms have their own refund policies. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact the platform that billed you, since they control the payment.
After the date your next charge would have hit, check your statement. If a charge still appears, the cancellation didn’t process on the biller’s end, and you should go back to that platform to dispute it.
When to Contact Starz Support
If a direct cancellation on starz.com isn’t working, Starz offers live chat at support.starz.com; look for the chat option at the lower right. There’s also an email contact form, with responses taking up to 48 hours. Starz does not appear to offer phone support.
Starz support can only help with direct subscriptions. If Apple, Amazon, Google, Hulu, Roku, or YouTube TV is the biller, that platform’s support team is the one to contact.
