To cancel a Tinder subscription, go to the platform that processed your payment — Apple, Google Play, or Tinder’s website — and cancel there. Tinder itself cannot cancel a subscription billed through Apple or Google, and deleting the app does not stop the charges.
First, Find Out Who Is Actually Billing You
Canceling on the wrong platform does nothing, so start by checking your receipts or bank statement. Charges from Apple show up as “APPLE.COM/BILL.” Charges routed through Google appear as “GOOGLE*Tinder Dating.” Direct Tinder purchases typically carry an order number starting with “TNDR.”1Tinder. Cancel Your Subscription
An order number starting with TNDR means you paid Tinder directly through their website or through the credit card option on Android. “GPA” or a Google reference means Google Play. An Apple receipt means the App Store. Once you know which one is charging you, use the matching method below.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
If you subscribed through the App Store, Apple controls the billing.
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top of the screen.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select Tinder from the list.
- Tap Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll down. If you see an expiration message in red, the subscription is already canceled.
Apple confirms the cancellation on screen, and your premium features stay active until the end of the current billing period.2Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple
Cancel on Android
If Google Play handled the payment, cancel through Google, not inside the Tinder app.
- Open Google Play, or go directly to play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions.
- Select your Tinder subscription.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts.
Google may ask why you’re canceling. The survey is optional; only the final confirmation screen matters.3Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play
Cancel on Tinder.com
If your order number begins with TNDR, you paid Tinder directly and cancel on their site.
- Go to tinder.com and log in.
- Tap your profile icon.
- Select Manage Payment Account.
- Find your subscription and tap Cancel Subscription.
This is the only method that talks directly to Tinder’s billing system.1Tinder. Cancel Your Subscription
If You Paid Through PayPal
Some users set Tinder up as an automatic payment inside PayPal. Even after canceling on Tinder’s website, revoke the billing agreement in PayPal as a backstop:
- Log into PayPal and open Settings.
- Click Payments.
- Select Automatic Payments (sometimes labeled “Subscriptions and saved businesses”).
- Find Tinder and cancel the automatic payment.
Cutting the agreement at PayPal blocks that payment method from being charged again if something goes wrong on Tinder’s side.4PayPal. What Is an Automatic Payment and How Do I Update or Cancel One
What Happens After You Cancel
Cancellation stops the next charge. Your premium features stay active until the end of the billing period you already paid for. Pay on the 5th, cancel on the 20th, and you still get the rest of that month. Tinder does not issue prorated refunds for the unused portion, so there is no reason to wait until the last day.
To confirm it worked, look for the subscription to show an expiration date rather than a renewal date. Apple and Google both display this in their subscription screens.
Deleting the App Is Not Canceling
This is where most people get burned. Uninstalling Tinder does nothing to the billing agreement, because the subscription lives with Apple, Google, or Tinder’s website, not on your device. Deleting your Tinder account is also separate from canceling the subscription; if you delete your profile without canceling the underlying billing, charges keep coming. Cancel first, then delete the account or app if you want to.1Tinder. Cancel Your Subscription
If You Were Charged Anyway
Refunds run through the same platform that billed you.
Apple
Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, select “Request a refund,” choose a reason, and select the Tinder charge. Apple typically responds within 48 hours. Pending charges have to finalize before you can submit.5Apple Support. Request a Refund for Apps or Content That You Bought From Apple
Google Play
Open the Google Play app or play.google.com, go to your order history, find the Tinder charge, and request a refund. Google also suggests contacting the app developer directly for faster resolution on subscription disputes.6Google Play Help. Learn About Google Play Refund Policies
Tinder Direct
For TNDR order numbers, contact Tinder support from the email address you used for the purchase and include the order number. Tinder handles these on a case-by-case basis.7Tinder. Refund Requests
Your Rights If Cancellation Is Blocked
Federal law is on your side. The Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act requires any company selling subscriptions online to disclose the material terms up front, obtain your informed consent before charging you, and provide a simple way to stop recurring charges.8Congress.gov. Restore Online Shoppers Confidence Act – Public Law 111-345
The FTC’s Click-to-Cancel rule at 16 CFR Part 425 goes further: cancellation must be at least as simple as signup. If you subscribed online, the company has to let you cancel online, cannot force you onto a phone call, cannot charge a fee for canceling, and cannot demand information beyond what it collected at signup.9Legal Information Institute. 16 CFR Part 425 – Use of Prenotification Negative Option Plans
If a company makes cancellation unreasonably difficult, you can file a complaint at ftc.gov/complaint.
