To cancel TrustedHousesitters, log into the website, open your account settings, go to the Membership area, and toggle off automatic renewal. Your account stays active through the end of the period you already paid for, then deactivates. No future charges go through. If you paid through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you have to cancel there instead, and if you’re within 14 days of signing up or renewing, you may be able to get your money back.
Turn Off Auto-Renewal on the Website
Log in through the TrustedHousesitters website rather than the app. Open your account settings and go to “Membership.” You’ll see your current plan and renewal date. Toggle off the automatic renewal option. The page will then display your membership expiration date, and your access continues until that date. After it passes, the account deactivates and you lose messaging, listings, and the ability to apply for sits.1TrustedHousesitters. How Do I Cancel the Automatic Renewal of My Membership
Take a screenshot of the settings page showing the expiration date. TrustedHousesitters doesn’t explicitly promise a confirmation email, so your own record and your bank statement during the week your renewal would have hit are the most reliable proof the cancellation went through.
If your renewal date has already passed and your bank is seeing failed payment attempts, the toggle alone won’t fix it. Open the live chat button in the bottom right corner of the website and ask support to stop further attempts.1TrustedHousesitters. How Do I Cancel the Automatic Renewal of My Membership
If You Signed Up Through Apple or Google
This is the part that catches people. If you originally subscribed through the TrustedHousesitters app and paid via the App Store or Google Play, the website toggle will not stop your charges. Apple and Google manage those billing agreements, and you have to cancel through them.
On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, find TrustedHousesitters, and tap Cancel Subscription.2Apple. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple On Android, open the Google Play Store, go to your subscriptions, select TrustedHousesitters, and tap Cancel Subscription. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.3Google. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play
Not sure how you paid? Check your Apple or Google purchase history alongside your card statements. The charge description usually names Apple or Google rather than TrustedHousesitters directly.
Getting a Refund Within 14 Days
TrustedHousesitters offers a full refund if you cancel within 14 days of joining or auto-renewing, provided you haven’t used the service during that window. “Used” has a specific meaning: as a sitter, it means applying for a sit; as a pet parent, it means having live dates published on a listing. Doing either of those things inside the 14 days closes the refund window.4TrustedHousesitters. Can I Get a Refund
The window applies to auto-renewals, not just first-time sign-ups. If your membership renewed and you catch it within two weeks, you can still ask for your money back as long as you haven’t touched the core features. Request the refund through the live chat on the website.4TrustedHousesitters. Can I Get a Refund

The Money Back Promise for First-Year Members
Separate from the 14-day refund, TrustedHousesitters has a “Money Back Promise” for first-year members who tried the platform and couldn’t make it work. The rules differ by membership type.
For pet parents on Standard or Premium plans, you qualify if you post your first listing at least 14 days before the sit start date and receive zero sitter applications within 14 days of publishing it.6TrustedHousesitters. What Is the Money Back Promise
For sitters, you qualify if you’ve submitted at least five applications and still haven’t confirmed a sit within 14 days of that fifth application. Basic pet parent plans and renewal-year memberships are not covered by this promise.6TrustedHousesitters. What Is the Money Back Promise
If You Have a Confirmed Sit Still on the Calendar
A sit scheduled after your membership expires can technically still happen, but TrustedHousesitters won’t support it. You lose access to the platform inbox, so you’d need to swap personal contact details with the other member and handle remaining logistics off-platform. The other person is also free to cancel and find someone else through the community instead.7TrustedHousesitters. What Happens to My Confirmed Sits if I Cancel My Renewal
If you can wait, cancel after your last confirmed sit ends and both sides have left reviews. That avoids putting the sit at risk and keeps the arrangement on the platform where it was agreed.
Deleting Your Account Is a Separate Step
Canceling auto-renewal stops charges but leaves your profile, messages, photos, and reviews on the platform. To remove all of that, submit TrustedHousesitters’ account deletion form. It’s a dedicated form, not a toggle in your settings.8TrustedHousesitters. Can I Delete My Account and Data
Deletion is permanent. Your profile, listing, photos, messages, and reviews disappear and cannot be recovered. If you rejoin later, you start from scratch with no history.8TrustedHousesitters. Can I Delete My Account and Data
Deletion also affects other members you’ve interacted with. Reviews you wrote for sitters or pet parents become invisible, and your name is replaced with “Former member” on their profiles. The star ratings you left may still show, but the written text disappears. If you built relationships through the platform, give those people a heads-up before you delete so they aren’t surprised when their review count drops.
