How to Cancel USA Today: Online, Phone, Chat, or App Store

To cancel a USA Today subscription, sign in at account.usatoday.com, call 1-800-872-0001, or use live chat at help.usatoday.com. Whichever route applies, do it before your next renewal date so you aren’t charged for another cycle.

If You Subscribed Through the App Store or Google Play

Subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play are billed by those platforms. USA Today’s customer service can’t cancel them because they don’t control the billing. This is the single most common reason people keep getting charged after they think they’ve canceled.

Apple (iPhone or iPad)

Open Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions. Find USA Today and tap Cancel Subscription. If you only see a Renew option, the subscription is already set to end at the close of the current period. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

Google Play (Android)

Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, then Payments and Subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Select USA Today, tap Cancel Subscription, and follow the prompts.4Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play Uninstalling the app doesn’t stop the charges. If USA Today isn’t in your subscription list, you may be signed into a different Google account than the one you used to subscribe.

Confirm the Cancellation Went Through

Don’t assume it worked. Log back into account.usatoday.com and check that your account shows as canceled. If you went through Apple or Google Play, open the subscription list on that platform and confirm the renewal is off.

Then watch your bank or credit card statements for at least one full billing cycle after the cancellation date. If an unexpected charge appears, dispute it with your bank or card issuer. Your confirmation number, chat transcript, or a screenshot of the canceled status usually resolves it quickly.

Deleting Your Personal Data

Canceling stops the billing, but USA Today (owned by Gannett) still holds your account information. To have your personal data deleted, use the privacy request form at cm.usatoday.com/privacy/ or through the privacy policy link in the footer of usatoday.com. You’ll enter your name and email and confirm through a verification message. Depending on your state, the form may direct you to submit the request by mail instead.
