To cancel a Windy app subscription, go back to the platform where you signed up — the Apple App Store, Google Play, or the Windy website — and cancel it there. Removing the app from your phone does not stop the billing. One detail to settle first: two unrelated companies publish weather apps under the Windy name, and canceling the wrong one won’t help.
Check Which Windy App You Actually Have
Windy.com uses a red icon and calls its paid tier Premium. Windy.app uses a blue icon and calls its paid tier Pro. The two companies are not connected, and a subscription to one has nothing to do with the other.
Look at the icon on your phone, or open your purchase receipt. A receipt that mentions Windy.com or Windyty points to the red-icon app. A receipt that mentions Windy.app or “Windy: wind & weather forecast” points to the blue-icon app. Each has its own billing system, so identify yours before you start clicking around.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
Any subscription bought through the App Store is managed by Apple, not by the developer. That covers both Windy.com Premium and Windy.app Pro if you signed up on an iOS device.
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Find Windy in the list and tap it.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
If there’s no Cancel button and instead an expiration date shown in red, the subscription is already canceled.1Apple Support. Cancel on Android
On Android, subscriptions are managed inside the Google Play Store app rather than your device settings.
- Open the Google Play Store and tap your profile icon.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Tap the Windy subscription.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
Google Play bills at the start of each cycle, so finish the cancellation before your next renewal date.3Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play
Pause as an Alternative
Some Google Play subscriptions can be paused instead of canceled. If the developer has turned the feature on, a Pause button appears beside Cancel. Pausing stops billing for a set stretch and holds the subscription in place so you can pick it back up without re-subscribing — helpful if you only need Windy seasonally. If Pause doesn’t appear, canceling is the only option.
Cancel a Subscription Bought on the Windy Website
If you subscribed directly on Windy.com or Windy.app in a web browser, your billing likely runs through FastSpring, a third-party payment processor. These subscriptions cannot be canceled through the App Store or Google Play because Apple and Google never handled the charge.
Log in to the Windy site where you subscribed and open your account settings for a subscription management link. That link usually hands you off to FastSpring’s portal, which asks for the email address you used at purchase and sends you a secure link to view billing details and stop future charges. For Windy.app Pro, the cancellation option is also reachable from the Pro page on the site.4Windy.app. Windy.app PRO If you can’t find the management page, contact Windy’s support team directly.
Cancel a Free Trial Before You’re Charged
Windy.app Pro offers a seven-day free trial for first-time subscribers. You have to cancel before the trial ends to avoid the first charge. Waiting until day seven cuts it close and can put you inside the first paid cycle. Trials started through the App Store or Google Play are canceled the same way as any other subscription there, and both Apple and Google let you keep trial access through the end of the trial period even if you cancel right after signing up.
Request a Refund
Canceling stops future charges. It doesn’t refund the last one. Where you ask for a refund depends on where the charge came from.
Apple
Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in. Select “Request a refund,” pick a reason, choose the Windy charge, and submit. Apple usually responds within 48 hours. Pending charges can’t be refunded, so wait until the charge posts and you have the email receipt.5Apple Support. Request a Refund for Apps or Content That You Bought From Apple
Google Play
For charges within the last 48 hours, go to play.google.com, click your profile picture, then open Payments & subscriptions and Budget & order history. Find the charge, click Report a problem, and submit. Google typically replies within one to four days. Past the 48-hour window, Google directs you to the app developer instead.6Google Play Help. FastSpring
There is no self-service refund page for FastSpring-billed subscriptions. Contact Windy support directly. Staff can review the payment and process manual refunds for situations like an accidental renewal or a duplicate charge.
What to Expect After You Cancel
You should get a confirmation email or see an updated status on the subscription screen. Premium or Pro features stay active until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and then the account drops back to the free version automatically.
Watch your bank or card statement through the next billing window. If a charge appears after cancellation, the confirmation email or a screenshot of the canceled status is your evidence for a dispute. Federal consumer protection rules require that canceling a subscription be at least as easy as signing up, so an unusual barrier or a missing cancel option may be a violation of FTC guidance on negative-option practices.7Federal Trade Commission. Federal Trade Commission Announces Final Click-to-Cancel Rule Making It Easier for Consumers to End Recurring Subscriptions If the developer and platform both fail to resolve a charge, your card issuer can usually dispute a recurring charge that continued after a documented cancellation.
