To cancel Wix auto-renewal, log in to your Wix account, open the Premium Subscriptions page, click the three-dot More Actions icon next to the plan you want to stop, and choose Cancel Plan. Your paid features stay active until the end of the current billing cycle, and no further charge processes after that. The click-through takes about two minutes. What deserves more attention is timing, and the subscriptions that keep billing even after your site plan is gone.
The Steps to Turn Off Auto-Renewal
Every Wix Premium and Studio plan renews automatically at the end of its billing cycle, monthly, yearly, or on a multi-year term.1Wix. Renewing Your Premium or Studio Plan Wix charges the payment method on file unless you stop it first.
- Log in to your Wix account and open the Premium Subscriptions page.
- Find the subscription you want to cancel. If you run more than one site, check the site name next to the plan so you cancel the right one.
- Click the More Actions icon (three dots) beside the subscription.
- Select Cancel Plan and confirm through the prompts.
After you confirm, the dashboard shows a pending cancellation status and the exact date your plan expires.2Wix. Canceling a Wix Premium or Studio Plan You keep every paid feature until that date.
Check Your Next Charge Date Before You Cancel
Your upcoming renewal date sits in the Upcoming Payment column on the Premium Subscriptions page.3Wix. Checking Your Upcoming Renewals for Premium or Studio Plans Look at that date first. Canceling a week ahead costs nothing. Trying to reverse a renewal charge after it has already processed is a harder conversation.
Wix offers a 14-day money-back guarantee on first-time Premium or Studio purchases: cancel within 14 days of buying a new plan and you get a full refund, with the plan ending immediately.4Wix. Requesting a Refund for a Premium or Studio Plan That guarantee applies to first-time purchases, not to automatic renewals of an existing plan.2Wix. Canceling a Wix Premium or Studio Plan If a renewal has already been charged, contacting Wix support is your route, but there is no set refund path the way there is for a new subscription. Standard cancellation only stops future charges.
What Keeps Billing After You Cancel Your Site Plan
This is where people get caught. Canceling your Premium plan does not cancel third-party app subscriptions, a Google Workspace business email, or a domain registered through Wix. Each of those has its own billing cycle and continues charging after your site plan ends.
To stop an app subscription, return to the Premium Subscriptions page, find the app, click More Actions, select Cancel App, then choose Cancel Auto Renew and click Submit.5Wix Help Center. Canceling an App Subscription Only site owners have permission to do this, so if someone else manages the account, they will need to handle it.
Google Workspace business email works the same way and is canceled separately from the Premium Subscriptions page.6Wix. Google Workspace – Canceling Your Business Email Renewal If you let the email subscription lapse, Google retains your email data under its own retention policies, and you can repurchase the same business email address within that window to get your data restored.7Wix. Google Workspace – Repurchasing an Expired or Canceled Business Email
A domain registered through Wix is its own subscription too. Canceling Premium does not cancel the domain, and canceling the domain does not cancel Premium. If you want to keep the domain and drop the hosting, leave the domain subscription active and cancel only the site plan.
What Your Site Looks Like Once the Plan Expires
Your website does not disappear. It reverts to Wix’s free tier, which brings real limits:
- Storage drops to 500 MB.
- Bandwidth is capped at 1 GB per month.
- Wix places its own branding and ads on the site.
- Your custom domain disconnects and the site moves to a Wix subdomain such as username.wixsite.com/sitename.
- Payment processing, shopping cart, and online store functionality are turned off.
- Google Analytics integration and email campaign tools go back behind paid plans.
If your existing media files exceed the 500 MB free limit, Wix does not delete the excess. The site keeps working and existing content stays intact, but you cannot upload anything new until you remove files or upgrade again.
Changing Your Mind Before the Term Ends
If you cancel and then reconsider before the current billing period runs out, return to the Premium Subscriptions page and click Turn Auto Renew On under the plan. The subscription continues as if nothing happened.8Wix Help Center. Reactivating a Canceled Premium or Studio Site Plan
Once the plan actually expires, that option is gone and you will need to purchase a new plan. And if you canceled within the 14-day money-back window and received the refund, the plan ends immediately with no reactivation path, only a fresh upgrade.8Wix Help Center.
