How to Cancel Xfinity TV Service and Keep Internet

To cancel Xfinity TV service, call 1-800-934-6489, schedule a callback at xfinity.com/cancel, or walk into an Xfinity Store. There is no fully online or chat-based cancellation for TV at this time.1Xfinity. How to Cancel, Pause, or Move your Xfinity Services If you’re still inside a term agreement, expect an early termination fee of $10 per remaining month, and plan to return every piece of leased equipment within 30 days to avoid extra charges.

What to Have Ready Before You Call

Pull your most recent bill or log in to your Xfinity account. You’ll need the account number, the name and address on the account, and your security PIN or other identifying details the agent uses to verify you.2Xfinity Support. Where Can I Find My Xfinity Account Number?3Xfinity. Glossary: PINs, Passwords, Account Numbers, Xfinity IDs

Check the bill for a “Minimum Term” or contract end date. Knowing how many months remain tells you the exact fee before the agent quotes it, which matters when retention offers start flying. Then walk the house and inventory every piece of Xfinity hardware: cable boxes, streaming devices, remotes, power cords, and any networking gear. Anything you can’t produce later shows up as a charge on your final bill.

The Three Ways to Cancel

All three paths put you in front of a representative. Pick the one that fits how you want to spend your time.

Call 1-800-934-6489

Dial in and ask to cancel TV service. You’ll likely land with a retention agent whose job is to pitch discounts or alternative packages before processing the disconnection. Be polite, be clear, and once you’ve confirmed you want to cancel, ask for a verbal confirmation of the disconnection date and request an email summary. Write down the agent’s name and any confirmation number.

Schedule a Callback

At xfinity.com/cancel you can book a time window and have a representative call you. The process is identical to calling in, retention pitch included, but you skip the hold queue.

Go to an Xfinity Store

A store visit lets you cancel service and hand over equipment in one trip. Bring a photo ID that matches the account holder’s name. Ask for a printed receipt showing the disconnection and the serial numbers of every device you returned. This is the most efficient route if you have equipment to drop off anyway.

Early Termination Fees and When They’re Waived

If you’re still inside a term agreement, the ETF is $10 for each month remaining. Cancel eight months into a 24-month deal and you owe $10 × 16 = $160. The fee shrinks every month, so if your end date is close, waiting a few weeks can save real money.

The fee goes away entirely in a few situations: cancellation within the first 30 days of service, transfer to a new address inside Xfinity’s service area, active-duty military with deployment or PCS orders, or the death of the account holder. Moving outside Xfinity’s coverage footprint does not automatically waive the ETF.

Returning Your Equipment

Every piece of Xfinity-owned hardware must come back within 30 days of cancellation. Past that window, unreturned-equipment charges hit your account and can be sent to collections.

You have two options. Log in to the Device Management Center at xfinity.com, select the equipment, and print a UPS prepaid label; box everything and drop it at any UPS location.4Xfinity. How to Return Your Xfinity Equipment Keep the tracking number until the return posts to your account. Or bring everything to an Xfinity Retail Store and watch the employee check in each item. Ask for a printed receipt listing serial numbers and keep it indefinitely. Billing disputes over “unreturned” gear are common, and that slip is the fastest way to resolve them.

Your Final Bill and Refund

The final bill may include prorated charges for days the service was active during the last cycle, any ETF, and charges for equipment not returned.5Xfinity. What to Know When Canceling Your Xfinity Services If you prepaid past the disconnection date, the overpayment becomes a credit.

Refunds go to the last payment method on file and typically take four to six weeks after equipment is returned.6Xfinity. What to Expect With a Refund From Xfinity You don’t have to request it; it should process automatically. If more than six weeks pass, call in with your cancellation confirmation. Check the online account periodically to confirm the balance reaches zero and no new charges appear.

If You Want to Keep Internet

You don’t have to close the whole account to drop TV. Call 1-800-934-6489 or log in and look at internet-only plans. Removing TV from a bundle will likely change your pricing: the bundled discount disappears, and the internet rate may rise to the standalone price. Xfinity’s online tools sometimes won’t let you downgrade a bundle without a call, so if the site blocks you, the phone will finish the job.1Xfinity. How to Cancel, Pause, or Move your Xfinity Services Before you agree to anything, ask the agent to read back the full monthly total with fees so there are no surprises.

A Pause Instead of a Cancellation

If the reason for canceling is temporary, like a long trip or a seasonal home, Xfinity’s Seasonal Convenience Plan holds TV service for two to six months, once per year. The reduced TV rate runs $35 to $55 per month before taxes and fees, with no equipment lease charges during the hold. You keep the equipment and reactivate on return. Availability varies by location, and only existing residential customers qualify.7Xfinity. Seasonal Management – Vacation Holds

Military Orders and Deceased Account Holders

Under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, a service provider cannot impose an early termination charge on a contract terminated because of military service.8Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 50 USC 3956 – Termination of Certain Consumer Contracts Call 1-800-934-6489 with redacted copies of your PCS orders or deployment documentation ready. If the account is in a spouse’s name, you may need to work through direct messaging so the documentation can be reviewed and the fee removed.

Closing the account of someone who has died takes a call to the same number. Be ready with the account number or most recent payment amount, the last four digits of the account holder’s Social Security number, and a copy of the death certificate. Xfinity waives the ETF in this case. Equipment still has to be returned the same way.
