To cancel a 9Round membership, submit the online cancellation form at 9round.com/membership-cancellations while your account is active and in good standing.19Round. Membership Cancellations 9Round applies a 30-day notice policy, which means any payment scheduled within those 30 days will still be charged. Timing matters more than most people expect, and the specific terms of the contract you signed at your local studio can change the picture.
Submit the Online Cancellation Form
The official cancellation page walks you through a short form. You’ll provide your first and last name, phone number, the email tied to your membership, your state or province, and the specific studio where you’re a member.19Round. Membership Cancellations It also asks whether you originally signed up online at 9round.com or in person at a studio, and it asks for a reason from a dropdown that includes financial hardship, relocation, medical issues, and schedule conflicts.
Some studios also accept a paper cancellation form in person.29Round. Membership Cancellation Request Either route works. The online form is faster and leaves a digital record automatically.
Check Your Contract Before You Submit
9Round is a franchise, so each studio owner sets slightly different terms. The company’s standard policy is a 30-day notice requirement, but your signed agreement may say something different.19Round. Membership Cancellations Pull out your contract and read the termination clause. It should tell you the exact notice window, whether early-termination fees apply, and whether you’re on a month-to-month or fixed-term plan.
Fixed-term memberships are the main trap. If you signed up for a set period, 9Round may not permit early cancellation at all; the membership simply expires when the term runs out.19Round. Membership Cancellations Submitting a cancellation request on a fixed-term contract that doesn’t allow early exit has no effect, and your payment obligations continue.29Round. Membership Cancellation Request If you’re not sure which type you have, ask the studio before filing anything.
What Happens During the 30-Day Notice Period
The 30-day clock starts when 9Round receives your request, not when you decide to cancel. Any monthly payment that falls within that window will be charged on schedule.19Round. Membership Cancellations If your billing date is five days away and you file today, that charge is going through.
You have 30 days from the date of your last payment to use any remaining sessions. Once that window closes, unused sessions and any promotional rate you were receiving are gone.19Round. Membership Cancellations If you have prepaid sessions sitting there, use them before access ends.
Cancelling a Frozen Account
A freeze is not a cancellation. If your membership is on hold (some studios charge around $19 per month for the freeze), you still need to submit a full 30-day cancellation request to end it. A freeze pauses workouts; it doesn’t stop your contractual obligations, and you may owe a payment during the final days of the cancellation period even while frozen.19Round. Membership Cancellations A frozen account will not quietly lapse on its own.
Relocation or Medical Reasons
Many states have gym-specific consumer protection laws that override contract terms. A significant number of states let you cancel without penalty if you move more than 25 miles from the studio or if a medical condition prevents you from using the facility. Medical cancellations typically require a doctor’s letter confirming the condition, usually on letterhead with a signature and contact information. Rules vary, so check with your state attorney general’s office or consumer protection division for the specifics where you live.
9Round’s own form lists both “Relocation” and “Medical” as dropdown reasons.19Round. Membership Cancellations Have your supporting documentation ready before you submit: proof of your new address for a move, or a doctor’s letter for a medical cancellation.
Keep Proof of the Cancellation
The online form generates a basic record. Build on it. Screenshot the confirmation page or any confirmation email the moment you submit. If you cancel in person, ask the staff member to sign and date a copy of the form and hand it back to you.
For a stronger record, send a written cancellation notice by certified mail with return receipt requested. The return receipt gives you proof of the delivery date, which matters if there’s a dispute about when the 30-day period started.3United States Postal Service. Electronic Return Receipt Then follow up with the studio in a few days and ask for written confirmation that your request is being processed. Keep screenshots, emails, signed forms, and postal receipts in one folder until you’ve confirmed no further charges have hit your account.
If Charges Keep Coming After You Cancel
Sometimes a cancellation doesn’t stick. A request gets lost, a franchise owner delays processing, or charges keep posting after the 30 days have run. Two federal laws give you tools.
If you pay by debit card or direct bank draft, the Electronic Fund Transfer Act lets you stop any preauthorized recurring transfer. Contact your bank in writing or by phone at least three business days before the next scheduled charge and tell them to block it. The bank may ask you to confirm in writing within 14 days.4Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 USC 1693e – Preauthorized Transfers That doesn’t resolve the underlying dispute with 9Round, but it stops the bleeding.
If you pay by credit card, the Fair Credit Billing Act lets you dispute an unauthorized charge in writing within 60 days of the statement date showing it. Your dispute letter needs your name, account number, the amount you believe is wrong, and why you think it’s an error.5Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 USC 1666 – Correction of Billing Errors Send it to the billing-dispute address your card issuer designates, not to 9Round. The issuer has to investigate before trying to collect the disputed amount, and attaching a copy of your cancellation confirmation makes the case much harder to push back on.
