To cancel your Acronis subscription, you need to cancel with whoever actually bills you: Acronis itself, its third-party billing partner Cleverbridge, the Apple App Store, or Google Play. Canceling in the wrong place is the single most common reason people get hit with a renewal charge they thought they had stopped.
Find Out Who Is Actually Billing You
Before you log into anything, pull up your original purchase confirmation email or a recent credit card statement. The charge will show one of a few names: Acronis, Cleverbridge, Apple, or Google. That name tells you where to go. Canceling on the Acronis website will not stop charges coming from Cleverbridge, and nothing on the Acronis site can touch a subscription billed through a mobile app store.
While you’re at it, log into your account at the Acronis management portal and note the subscription ID or license key. If you end up needing support, having that information ready saves a round of back-and-forth.
Cancel Directly With Acronis
If Acronis bills you directly, sign into your account dashboard and open the subscription or license section. Find the auto-renewal toggle or cancel link next to the subscription you want to end. Acronis publishes a walkthrough for turning off automatic renewal.1Acronis. How to Turn Off Automatic Renewal of Subscription You will usually need to confirm and pick a cancellation reason from a dropdown before the change goes through.
Turning off auto-renewal does not cut off your access right away. You keep using the software and your cloud storage through the end of the period you already paid for. What matters is that the dashboard now shows auto-renewal off. If it still lists a future renewal date, the change did not take.
Cancel Through Cleverbridge
A lot of Acronis purchases are processed by Cleverbridge, and when that is the case the Acronis dashboard may not even show a cancel button. Go to the Cleverbridge purchase lookup page, enter the email address you used to buy the subscription, and complete the captcha.2Cleverbridge Help & Support. How Do I Cancel My Subscription
Cleverbridge will email you a link labeled “All details on this order.” Open it and look for “Subscription overview,” “Cancel your subscription,” or “Manage your subscription.” Canceling here stops future renewals but does not refund the current period.2Cleverbridge Help & Support. How Do I Cancel My Subscription If you can’t find your Cleverbridge reference number, their online lookup tool will retrieve it.
Cancel Through Apple or Google Play
If you subscribed inside a mobile app, neither Acronis nor Cleverbridge can cancel it. The platform charging you is the only one that can stop the charge.
On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, find Acronis, and tap Cancel Subscription.3Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple If Acronis isn’t in your list but charges keep appearing, the subscription may be tied to a different Apple ID.
On Android, open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, go to Payments & subscriptions, tap Subscriptions, pick Acronis, and tap Cancel subscription.4Google Play Support. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play Deleting the app does not stop the subscription. Charges continue until you cancel inside Google Play.
Confirm the Cancellation Actually Worked
Whichever route you took, verify it. Look for a confirmation email from whoever handled the cancellation, and sign back into your Acronis dashboard to check that the subscription shows as canceled or shows an expiration date with no upcoming renewal. If it still reads active, the cancellation did not go through.
Save the confirmation email and take a screenshot of the dashboard. If a renewal charge posts to your card after you canceled, that is the documentation you will need to dispute it with your bank or the billing company. Setting a calendar reminder a few days before your original renewal date is a simple way to catch problems early.
Getting a Refund
Canceling stops future charges. It does not automatically give you back what you already paid, so a refund is a separate request.
For Cleverbridge-billed purchases, use their refund request form and submit your Cleverbridge reference number along with a reason. A successful refund permanently deactivates the license, and that cannot be reversed. Whether you qualify depends on the product, how long ago you bought it, and your payment method; the form will tell you after you submit.5Cleverbridge. Refund Request
For purchases billed by Acronis directly, contact Acronis support. Acronis has a 30-day refund policy, though the exact terms can vary between consumer and business subscriptions, and the closer you are to the purchase or renewal date, the better your odds. For App Store or Google Play subscriptions, the refund request has to go through Apple or Google, since Acronis does not control those transactions.
What Happens to Your Cloud Backups
Your cloud data is not deleted the moment your subscription ends. You get a short grace period of roughly five days during which you can still create new backups, and about 30 days total during which you can still download and restore existing cloud backups. After 30 days, that data is permanently destroyed. Renewing within the window preserves your backups and picks up where you left off.
If you keep anything important only in Acronis Cloud, download it before your paid period runs out. Waiting until the grace period is risky, because if a restore fails you may not have time to retry.
