To cancel an AskAnExpert subscription, you need to cancel the underlying JustAnswer membership that AskAnExpert routes to, and you have to do it through whichever channel is actually charging your card: JustAnswer’s website or app, Apple, or Google Play. JustAnswer bills between $28 and $125 per month depending on the expert category you picked at sign-up, and in January 2026 the Federal Trade Commission sued the company for enrolling consumers in these recurring charges without clear consent.1Federal Trade Commission. FTC Sues JustAnswer for Deceiving Consumers into Enrolling in a Costly Recurring Monthly Subscription If you didn’t realize you were signing up for a monthly plan, you’re not alone.
Check Who Is Actually Billing You
Pull up your bank or credit card statement and look at the merchant name on the charge. If it says JustAnswer, you cancel through JustAnswer directly. If it says Apple or Google Play, the subscription lives inside that app store and JustAnswer’s own cancellation page cannot stop it. Get this right first. Cancelling in the wrong place is the most common reason people see another charge the next month.
Cancel Directly With JustAnswer
On the Website
Log in at justanswer.com using the email you signed up with. Click the account icon in the top-right corner, go to the Membership section, and select Cancel Membership.2JustAnswer. How Can I Cancel My Membership
The site will try to keep you. Expect a dropdown asking why you’re leaving, then discount offers, then alternative plan suggestions. Click through every screen until you reach a final confirmation message. Closing the browser before that last page leaves your subscription active. Keep going until the site explicitly says the membership is cancelled.
In the Mobile App
The steps are the same on iPhone and Android:
- Open the JustAnswer app and log in.
- Tap Account at the bottom right.
- Select Manage Membership.
- Select Cancel Membership.
- Confirm when prompted, tapping through every retention screen until you get an explicit confirmation.2JustAnswer. How Can I Cancel My Membership
By Phone
If the website or app gives you trouble, call Customer Care at 1-800-314-2855. The line is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.3JustAnswer. Contact Customer Care Tell the agent clearly that you want to cancel. They may offer a discount or a pause. You can decline. Before you hang up, ask for a confirmation number or reference ID and write it down. If a charge shows up later, that reference is your proof. Emailing Customer Care from your registered address also creates a written record.
Cancel Through Apple or Google Play
If your statement shows Apple or Google as the merchant, cancel there instead.
Apple
On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Find JustAnswer, tap it, and tap Cancel Subscription.4Apple. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple If there’s no cancel button and you see red text with an expiration date, the subscription is already cancelled.
Google Play
Open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Tap JustAnswer, then Cancel subscription. Google recommends cancelling at least 48 hours before your renewal date so you’re not billed for the next cycle.
Confirm It Actually Stopped
A successful cancellation triggers a confirmation email with the effective end date. Log back in and check the Membership section within about 24 hours; the status should read Cancelled or Pending Cancellation. Your access usually stays active until the end of the current billing period. After that date passes, watch your statements for at least one full billing cycle. If another charge lands, you have what you need to dispute it.
Getting a Refund
JustAnswer’s help page tells unsatisfied customers to contact Customer Care, but the company doesn’t publish a specific refund window or money-back guarantee.5JustAnswer. How Can I Request a Refund Outcomes vary. Contacting support quickly, being direct about what happened, and saying exactly what you want improves your odds.
If JustAnswer refuses and you paid by credit card, federal law gives you another route. You can dispute a billing error in writing to your card issuer within 60 days of the statement that first showed the charge.6Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 USC 1666 – Correction of Billing Errors Include your name, account number, the charge amount, and why you believe it’s an error. Send it to the billing dispute address on your statement, not the general payment address. The issuer has to acknowledge within 30 days and resolve within 90 days or two billing cycles, whichever comes first, and cannot try to collect the disputed amount or report you as delinquent while investigating.7Federal Trade Commission. Using Credit Cards and Disputing Charges
If you paid by debit card or bank account, the Electronic Fund Transfer Act applies instead. You can stop a preauthorized recurring transfer by telling your bank at least three business days before the next scheduled payment.8Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 USC 1693e – Preauthorized Transfers Your bank may want written confirmation within 14 days of an oral request. This blocks future charges but doesn’t refund past ones.
Why You Have Leverage
In January 2026, the FTC sued JustAnswer, alleging that consumers who thought they were paying a small fee to ask one question were actually being enrolled in monthly subscriptions of $28 to $125, charged alongside the initial join fee.1Federal Trade Commission. Deleting Your Account and Data
Cancelling stops future charges, but your account and personal data stay on JustAnswer’s servers unless you also delete them. In the app on either iPhone or Android:
- Open the app and log in.
- Tap Account at the bottom right.
- Select Edit Profile.
- Select Delete account and data permanently.
- Confirm when prompted.
On desktop there’s no self-service deletion. Contact Customer Care and ask them to delete the account.10JustAnswer. How Can I Close My Account
