To cancel an AutoCAD subscription, sign in at manage.autodesk.com, open Billing and Orders, select the subscription under Subscriptions and Contracts, and use “Cancel subscription at renewal.” That click stops the next renewal charge, but it does not end your current term or refund what you have already paid. A refund is a separate request with a tight deadline: 30 days from an annual or three-year purchase, 15 days from a monthly one.1Autodesk. Autodesk Store Returns and Refunds
What Canceling Actually Does
At Autodesk, “cancel” means “do not renew.” Your subscription stays active through its paid expiration date, and only then does the shutoff process begin.2Autodesk. Can I Cancel My Autodesk Subscription Before the End of the Term
If you are on an annual plan billed in monthly installments, canceling does not erase the remaining balance. Autodesk treats the annual commitment as binding whether you keep using the software or not, so the scheduled payments still come out.2Autodesk. Refund Windows
Refund eligibility runs from the purchase or renewal date: 30 days for annual and three-year subscriptions, 15 days for monthly ones. Canceling by itself does not trigger a refund. You have to contact Autodesk support and ask for one within those windows. After the window closes, there is no partial credit for unused time.1Autodesk. Autodesk Store Returns and Refunds
Check your renewal date first. If a charge just posted and you are inside the window, request the refund before you cancel. If you are deeper into the term, the practical move is turning off auto-renew so you stop paying once the term ends.
Canceling Through Your Account
- Sign in at manage.autodesk.com with the Autodesk ID tied to the subscription.
- Open Billing and Orders, then Subscriptions and Contracts.
- Click the AutoCAD subscription to open its details.
- Scroll to “Cancel subscription at renewal.”
- Select Cancel subscription, pick a reason from the survey, and confirm.3Autodesk. Manage Cancelation, Renewal, and Refunds
Turning off auto-renew produces the same outcome without a formal cancellation, and you can switch auto-renew back on any time before the subscription reaches Cancelled status.4Autodesk. Turn Off/On Auto-Renew for Multiple Autodesk Subscriptions
Only the original purchaser can change these settings.4Autodesk. Turn Off/On Auto-Renew for Multiple Autodesk Subscriptions
If You Bought Through a Reseller
These steps only apply to subscriptions purchased directly from Autodesk. If you bought AutoCAD through an authorized reseller, Autodesk will not handle the cancellation or refund. Contact the reseller directly, because return policies vary by seller. Your subscription may still appear in your Autodesk account, but the billing relationship sits with the reseller. Pull your original invoice and have both the reseller’s order number and your Autodesk subscription ID ready.
Managing Seats on a Team Subscription
If you administer multiple seats, you can reduce the seat count at any time, but the lower price only applies at the next renewal. The existing seats stay live until then. Sign in as the contract manager, open Billing and Orders, choose the contract, and click Reduce Seats. A grayed-out button usually means you have only one seat or you lack contract manager permissions.5Autodesk. Add or Reduce Seats
What Happens to the Software Afterward
Once the term ends, the subscription moves through three stages: Expired, then Suspended, then Cancelled. You can still renew or pay to restore access during Expired and Suspended. After Cancelled, the subscription is gone and reactivating means buying a new one.6Autodesk. Can I Access My Autodesk Software After My Subscription Expires
AutoCAD stays installed on your machine, but editing is locked. You can still view and share DWG files through Autodesk’s free viewer tools; creating or modifying drawings requires a paid subscription.6Autodesk. Can I Access My Autodesk Software After My Subscription Expires
Get Your Cloud Files Out First
If you stored work on a BIM 360 Team hub, Autodesk keeps expired hubs visible for 120 days, and the hub admin can access and download files during that time. Once the hub is deleted, the files are gone with no recovery.7Autodesk. What Can and Cannot Be Done on a BIM 360 Team Hub Once It Has Expired
Download DWG files, project folders, and shared documents to local storage or another cloud service well before the deadline. Do not wait for the last day of the window.
A Cheaper Option Before You Cancel
If cost is the reason, AutoCAD LT starts at $45 per month and covers core 2D drafting and documentation.8Autodesk. AutoCAD LT It leaves out 3D modeling, advanced customization, and some specialized toolsets, so it is not a match for every workflow. Autodesk does not offer an automatic downgrade, so you would cancel the full AutoCAD subscription using the steps above and buy LT as a separate purchase.
