To cancel a BetterMe subscription, go to the platform that processed your payment — the BetterMe website, Apple’s App Store, Google Play, or PayPal — and turn off the renewal there at least 24 hours before your next billing date. Deleting the app does not stop the charges. Knowing how to cancel a BetterMe subscription starts with figuring out which of those four places is actually billing you, because the steps are different for each one and only the right one will work.
Find Out Where You Were Billed
Pull up your bank or credit card statement and look at the merchant name on the BetterMe charge. That name tells you which cancellation path to use.
- “Apple.com/bill” means you subscribed through the App Store. Cancel in your iPhone settings.
- “Google Play” means you subscribed through the Play Store. Cancel there.
- “BETTERME” means you bought directly on the BetterMe website. Cancel through your BetterMe profile.
- A PayPal entry means PayPal is handling the recurring payment. Cancel it inside PayPal.
Your original signup confirmation email also lists the billing platform and the email tied to the account. Find it if you can, because you’ll need the matching login.
Cancel Through the BetterMe Website or App
If you signed up on the BetterMe site, you have two options. In the app, open your Profile and tap Manage Subscriptions. On a computer, sign in at app.betterme.world and open subscription settings.1BetterMe. Expect discounted counter-offers and exit surveys along the way. Keep going until you reach a screen that clearly says the subscription will not renew, and save a screenshot of it. If you never see that confirmation, you have not actually canceled. Once you do cancel, you keep access to the app until the current paid period ends.3BetterMe. Subscription Terms
Cancel on iPhone Through the App Store
If Apple is billing you, cancellation happens in iPhone settings, not inside the BetterMe app.
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap BetterMe in the list.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm. You may need to scroll down to find the button.
When it’s done, the subscription page will show an expiration date instead of a renewal date, and access continues until that date.4Apple. See Your Purchases and Subscriptions in the App Store on iPhone If you see a red expiration message when you open the page, the subscription is already canceled.
Cancel on Android Through Google Play
For Google Play subscriptions, open the Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select BetterMe.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
Google may ask why you’re canceling. After you confirm, you’ll see an on-screen notice, and access continues to the end of the current billing period.6Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play
Cancel Through PayPal
If PayPal is the payment method, the cancellation has to happen inside PayPal.
- Log in to PayPal and open Settings.
- Select Payments, then Manage Automatic Payments.
- Find BetterMe and turn off auto-renewal.
Do this at least 24 hours before your next billing date so the change takes effect in time.7BetterMe. How to Cancel Your BetterMe Subscription
The Two Mistakes That Keep the Charges Coming
The first is missing the 24-hour deadline. BetterMe’s terms require you to cancel at least 24 hours before the end of a trial or subscription period to avoid the next charge.2BetterMe. Terms and Conditions of Use Trials that convert from a discounted rate to full price bite hardest here. Set a calendar reminder a couple of days out and don’t count on BetterMe to remind you.
The second is deleting the app and assuming that’s the end of it. Uninstalling BetterMe does nothing to your billing. The subscription lives with the platform that took your payment, not with the app on your phone.3BetterMe. Subscription Terms6Google Play Help. Getting a Refund After Canceling
Canceling stops future charges. It does not automatically return money already taken. What you can recover depends on where you were billed.
BetterMe advertises a money-back guarantee, but the eligibility conditions are narrow. You have to have bought directly through the BetterMe website, have been shown the money-back option at checkout, and be able to show you didn’t get “visible results.” You have to contact BetterMe within 30 days of the initial purchase and before the subscription period ends. You also have to prove you followed the program, using app screenshots of a minimum number of sessions: at least seven sessions across seven consecutive days within the first 30 days for monthly or longer plans, or at least three sessions across three consecutive days for weekly or biweekly plans. Requests that fall outside those conditions are handled at BetterMe’s discretion. Residents of California and Connecticut have a separate right to cancel within three business days for a full refund, and residents of EEA countries and Switzerland can withdraw within 14 days of entering the contract.8BetterMe. If Apple charged you, request the refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Sign in, choose “Request a refund,” pick a reason, select the BetterMe charge, and submit.9Apple. Request a Refund for Apps or Content That You Bought From Apple If Google charged you, go to play.google.com, click your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Budget & order history. Find the BetterMe charge, click “Report a problem,” and request a refund. Google typically responds within one to four days.10Google Play Help. Request a Refund on Google Play
If BetterMe won’t refund and you believe the charge was improper, dispute it with your card issuer. Call the number on the back of the card, say you’re disputing a recurring subscription charge, and send your cancellation confirmation as evidence. Keep every confirmation email and screenshot. That paper trail is what wins the dispute.
Deleting Your Account and Personal Data
Canceling the subscription leaves your account and everything you entered — body measurements, habits, meal preferences, activity data pulled from integrations like Apple Health — on BetterMe’s servers. To wipe it, open the app, go to the More tab, tap the profile icon in the top-right corner, scroll to the bottom, and select Manage Personal Data. Tap “Remove personal data” to delete the account permanently. It logs you out immediately and cannot be undone.11BetterMe Help Center. If BetterMe Makes Cancellation Too Hard
Federal law requires companies that charge you through an auto-renewing online subscription to give you a simple way to stop the recurring charges and to disclose billing terms clearly before taking your payment.13Congress.gov.
