To cancel a Bolt subscription, use the same channel that bills you: the Bolt app if Bolt charges you directly, the Apple App Store if you signed up on an iPhone, or Google Play if you signed up on Android. Your Bolt Plus benefits continue until the end of the billing cycle you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again after that. Bolt cannot cancel a subscription managed through an app store on your behalf, so the channel matters.1Bolt. Bolt Plus Subscription Terms
Figure Out Who Is Billing You
Before you tap through any menus, find out whether the charge comes from Bolt directly or from Apple or Google. This one detail decides which cancellation path will actually stop the money. Bolt’s subscription terms are explicit on this point: if you subscribed through an app store, you have to cancel through that app store’s settings.1Bolt. Bolt Plus Subscription Terms
Two quick checks tell you which it is. Search your email for the original subscription confirmation; if it came from Apple or Google, that is your billing source. Then look at your card or bank statement and see whether the charge posts under Bolt’s name or under Apple or Google. Getting this right the first time saves you from completing a full cancellation flow in the wrong place and being charged again anyway.
Canceling in the Bolt App
If Bolt bills you directly, you handle the whole thing inside the Bolt app. Open the app and tap your profile icon on the main screen. Look for a subscription or membership section, which may be labeled Bolt Plus or sit under account settings. That screen shows your plan, your next billing date, and a cancel option.
Tap cancel and follow the prompts. Bolt will likely ask why you are leaving and may offer an incentive to stay. Keep going until you see a final confirmation that the cancellation has been processed. Screenshot that screen or save the confirmation email. That is your proof if a charge shows up later and you need to dispute it.
Canceling Through the Apple App Store
If you subscribed on your iPhone, Bolt cannot cancel for you. Go through Apple’s subscription settings instead.2Apple. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top of the screen.
- Tap Subscriptions to see every active and expired subscription on your Apple ID.
- Tap the Bolt entry, then tap Cancel Subscription.
If there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red, the subscription is already canceled. Apple sends a confirmation email when the cancellation goes through, so check your inbox to verify.2Apple. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple
Canceling Through Google Play
Android users who signed up through the Play Store go through Google. Open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon in the upper right, and select Payments and subscriptions. Tap Subscriptions, find Bolt, and select Cancel subscription. Confirm when prompted.
Uninstalling the Bolt app does not cancel the subscription. The billing relationship is between you and Google, not between you and the app on your phone. Until you explicitly cancel through the Play Store’s subscription menu, charges keep coming. Google recommends canceling at least 48 hours before your renewal date to avoid being billed for the next cycle.
If You’re Still on the Free Trial
Bolt Plus comes with a free first month, and the membership auto-renews at the standard monthly rate after that.3Bolt. Bolt Plus Membership Pricing varies by market, so check your plan details in the app for your exact rate. If you only wanted to try the service, cancel before the trial ends. Once a charge posts, the subscription is non-refundable.4Bolt. Bolt Plus Apple does not publish a buffer window, but canceling a day or two early is a reasonable precaution on either platform.
What Happens After You Cancel
Canceling does not cut off access right away. Your Bolt Plus benefits, including waived delivery fees and ride discounts, keep running until the end of the billing cycle you already paid for.4Bolt. Bolt Plus After that date, your account returns to standard Bolt pricing on rides and deliveries. Auto-renewal simply stops; you can resubscribe later with no waiting period.5Bolt. If You’re Still Being Charged
If a charge appears after you canceled, first check whether it is the final charge for the cycle you were already in when you canceled. That one is legitimate. A genuinely new charge after your cycle ended is a different problem.
Start with Bolt’s support through the help section inside the app. If Apple or Google processed the payment, you can also dispute the charge through their support channels, since they handled the money. If neither route works, you can go to your bank. Federal law lets you stop preauthorized electronic fund transfers by notifying your financial institution at least three business days before the next scheduled charge, and your bank may ask you to put that stop-payment request in writing within 14 days.6Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 USC 1693e – Preauthorized Transfers
Keep everything: the cancellation confirmation screenshot or email, bank statements showing continued charges, and any messages with Bolt or the app store. A clean paper trail speeds up the dispute and gives you a stronger position if you need to escalate to the Federal Trade Commission or the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
