How to Cancel Your Canopy Subscription: Dashboard, App Stores, and Refunds

To cancel your Canopy subscription, go to whichever service is actually billing you — Canopy directly, Apple’s App Store, or Google Play — and cancel there. Then uninstall Canopy Shield from each monitored device as a separate step. Deleting the app from a phone does not stop the charges, and canceling in the wrong place does not stop them either.

Check Who Is Billing You

Open your email and find a recurring charge receipt. If it comes from Apple or Google, that platform controls your subscription and you have to cancel through them. If it comes from Canopy, you cancel inside the Canopy dashboard. Canopy’s own cancellation controls cannot stop charges that run through Apple or Google, and vice versa.

You’ll need the login tied to whichever account bills you: your Canopy credentials at app.canopy.us, your Apple ID, or your Google account.

Cancel Through the Canopy Dashboard

If Canopy bills you directly, use the app or the web dashboard.

  • Log in to the Canopy app or go to app.canopy.us. In the mobile app, tap the menu in the upper-left corner. On the web, click the account icon in the upper-right.
  • On the Account Settings page, find the “Your Plan” section and select “Edit Details.”
  • Click the cancellation link under Your Plan and confirm when prompted.

Your filtering keeps running through the end of the billing period you already paid for. Canopy does not cut off access the moment you cancel.1Canopy Support. How Do I Cancel My Canopy Subscription?

Cancel Through Apple’s App Store

If you signed up on an iPhone or iPad, Apple handles billing and Apple is where you cancel.

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap your name at the top of the screen.
  • Tap Subscriptions.
  • Find Canopy and select it.
  • Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

Apple shows the date your current period ends. You keep Canopy’s filtering until then.2Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription from Apple

Cancel Through Google Play

Android subscribers cancel inside Google Play, not the Canopy app. Either path works.

From device settings: open Settings, tap Google, then your name, then Manage your Google Account. Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Manage subscriptions. Find Canopy and tap Cancel subscription.3Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play

From the Google Play app: open Google Play, go to your subscriptions, select Canopy, tap Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts. Google tells you when your remaining access expires.

Remove Canopy Shield From Each Monitored Device

Canceling stops future billing. It does not remove the filtering software already installed on your kids’ phones or tablets. Canopy Shield stays on each device and can keep restricting content until you uninstall it manually. This is the step most people skip, and it’s why devices still behave as if they’re monitored weeks after the subscription ends.

Parent-Managed Devices

Open the Canopy for Parents app or web dashboard and turn off “Removal Prevention” for the device you want to free. Then, on the monitored device itself, open the Canopy Shield app, tap the menu, and select “Remove Canopy.” The app uninstalls automatically.4Canopy. Uninstall Canopy for Smartphone or Tablet

After uninstalling, go back to Account Settings and delete the device profile. The delete button only appears once Shield is off the device.5Canopy Support. Delete or Transfer a Device Profile

Accountability Partner Devices

If the device is set up with an Accountability Partner instead of a parent-child arrangement, open Canopy Shield on the device, go to the side menu, and select “Remove Application.” That sends a removal request to the partner, who can approve or deny it. If approved, Removal Protection temporarily disables and you can repeat the steps to finish uninstalling. If the partner denies it or doesn’t respond, contact Canopy support to have removal handled manually.6Canopy Support. Removing Canopy Shield from a Mobile Device with an Accountability Partner

Refunds, Free Trial, and the 30-Day Window

New accounts include a one-week free trial. Cancel before it ends and you aren’t charged. The cancellation steps are the same either way.

Beyond the trial, Canopy offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. Cancel within 30 days of creating your account and you can request a full refund. After that window closes, payments aren’t refundable, and Canopy doesn’t issue prorated credits for unused time inside a billing period. Annual plans are billed as a lump sum for the year, so canceling mid-year means you keep access through the end of the annual term with no partial refund for the remaining months.7Canopy. Pricing

If Apple or Google billed you, refund requests go through them, not Canopy. For Apple, sign in to reportaproblem.apple.com, choose “I’d like to,” then “Request a refund,” pick the Canopy charge, and submit. Apple reviews these case by case.8Apple Support. For Google Play, go to play.google.com, click your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Budget & order history. Find the Canopy charge, click “Report a problem,” and complete the refund form. For purchases older than 48 hours, Google may direct you to the developer.9Google Play Help.
