How to Cancel Your HelloFresh Subscription in the UK

To cancel a HelloFresh subscription in the UK, sign in to your account at hellofresh.co.uk, open Account Settings, scroll to the Status section of Plan Settings, and click “Cancel my subscription.” You need to complete this by 11:59 PM at least five days before your next scheduled delivery, or you’ll be charged for one more box before the cancellation takes effect.

The Five-Day Deadline

HelloFresh UK requires cancellations by 11:59 PM at least five days before your next delivery date. Check your account for that delivery date and count back five days to work out your personal cutoff. Miss it and the order is already being processed, which means you’ll receive and pay for one more box before deliveries stop.

The same deadline applies to skipping a week or making changes to an upcoming order. Once the cutoff passes, HelloFresh starts sourcing and packing your ingredients and will not reverse the charge.

How to Cancel Through Your Account

The entire process runs through the HelloFresh website or app. There is no phone number to call and no email to send.

  • Sign in at hellofresh.co.uk with your account email and password.
  • Click your name in the top-right corner and choose Account Settings.
  • Scroll down to the Status section at the bottom of Plan Settings.
  • Click “Cancel my subscription.”
  • Work through the prompts. HelloFresh will ask why you’re leaving and offer discounts or free boxes to keep you. Click “Cancel anyway” on each screen to proceed.
  • Continue until you reach a final screen confirming your subscription is deactivated.

The retention offers can run across two or three screens. Keep clicking through. If you accidentally select “pause” or “skip” instead of cancel, you’ll stay subscribed and deliveries will resume.

Confirming the Cancellation Went Through

After completing the flow, you should receive a confirmation email from HelloFresh. Save it. That email is your proof of when you cancelled if a billing dispute comes up later.

You can also verify by logging back in and going to Plan Settings. A deactivated subscription shows a “Reactivate” button instead of an upcoming delivery schedule. If the page still lists a future box, something went wrong and you need to run through the cancellation again.

Watch your bank or card statements for the next couple of weeks. If a charge appears that shouldn’t, your confirmation email is the evidence you need to challenge it.

If You’re Charged After Cancelling

HelloFresh generally does not refund orders once they have been processed. If you cancelled after the five-day cutoff, you’ll receive that final box and be charged for it, but nothing further will ship. If you cancelled before the deadline and were still charged, contact HelloFresh through the virtual assistant on their contact page, which can connect you to a customer care agent.2HelloFresh. Some customers have reported accounts being reactivated and charged without explicit consent, which is why keeping the confirmation email and checking your statements matters. If HelloFresh will not resolve an unexpected charge, you can escalate through your bank’s chargeback process or file a complaint with the retailer’s alternative dispute resolution provider.

Skipping a Week Is Not the Same as Cancelling

If you only need a break, you can skip individual weeks through the My Menu section. Find the delivery date you want to skip and select the option to skip that week. Your account stays open, your preferences are saved, and deliveries resume on the following week you don’t skip.3HelloFresh. How to Pause or Cancel a HelloFresh Subscription

The same five-day deadline applies to skipping. If you don’t skip in time, that box will be charged and shipped.

Skipping keeps your account active and your payment details on file. Cancelling deactivates the subscription entirely. If your goal is to stop all future charges with certainty, cancel rather than skip.

Your Cooling-Off Right and Why It’s Limited for Meal Kits

Signing up online puts you in a distance contract covered by the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. These give you a 14-day cooling-off period from the moment you enter the contract, during which you can cancel for any reason.

There is a significant carve-out for meal kits. The regulations exclude “goods which are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly” from the cancellation right.4legislation.gov.uk. The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 – Regulation 28 Fresh ingredients fall into that category. You can cancel the ongoing subscription itself within the cooling-off period, but you likely cannot return a delivered box of perishable food for a refund. The cooling-off right is most useful if you want to cancel before your first box ships.

If you agreed to the service starting immediately, which most subscribers do by choosing a first delivery date, HelloFresh can still charge you for any service you’ve already received even if you cancel within the 14 days.

Deleting Your Account and Personal Data

Cancelling stops deliveries and charges, but HelloFresh keeps your account, personal details, and payment information on file in a deactivated state, ready for reactivation if you return. Removing your data is a separate step.

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to request erasure of your personal data. HelloFresh offers a data deletion form, and you can also contact customer care to request deletion. Cancel your subscription first, then submit the request. HelloFresh states the process can take up to 90 days. Once your data is deleted you won’t be able to reactivate your old account, so only do this if you’re certain you won’t return.

To find the deletion form or the correct privacy contact, use the virtual assistant on the HelloFresh UK contact page.2HelloFresh. Contact HelloFresh UK
