To cancel a Nexamp community solar subscription, email support@nexamp.com or call 855-727-4636 and ask to cancel. There is no early termination fee for residential subscribers, and Nexamp’s help center states you can cancel “at no additional cost.”1Nexamp. How Do I Update or Cancel My Subscription The request itself is quick. The wind-down is not: your utility has to remove you from the solar farm’s subscriber list, which takes up to 90 days in most states, and you’ll keep receiving invoices during that window.
Making the Request
Either channel works. If you email, use a clear subject line such as “Cancellation Request” and include your name, service address, and utility account number so support can match you to the right solar farm. You should get a confirmation email back with your final production period, which is the cutoff for any remaining charges you’ll owe.
Save that confirmation. It’s your proof of when the cancellation clock started, and you’ll want it if a billing question comes up later.
Why Invoices Keep Arriving After You Cancel
Nexamp bills in arrears. Credits appear on your electric bill first, and Nexamp invoices you only after the utility confirms those credits were applied.2Nexamp. Understanding Savings and Billing With Nexamp Community Solar That lag doesn’t stop when you ask to cancel.
During the processing period, your share of the farm keeps producing energy, the utility keeps posting credits to your electric bill, and you owe Nexamp for those credits at the same discounted rate you’ve been paying. These aren’t penalties. They’re the normal charge for benefits you actually received.3Nexamp. What Is My Commitment Expect one or more invoices after your request date, bounded by the final production period in your confirmation email.
How Long the Full Process Takes
In most states, utility removal takes up to 90 days. Massachusetts can take up to six months because of that state’s utility rules.1Nexamp. How Do I Update or Cancel My Subscription Add the arrears billing lag on top, and the gap between your cancellation request and your last Nexamp invoice can stretch a month or two beyond the utility’s processing window.
There’s no way to speed it up. Nexamp doesn’t control the utility’s billing cycle or how quickly it updates subscriber lists, and Nexamp itself can only submit changes at set times.4Nexamp. What Happens if I Move Submitting your request early is the only lever you have.
If You’re Moving
A move doesn’t cancel the subscription on its own. If your new address sits in the same utility territory, you may be able to transfer rather than cancel. Contact support with your new address, new utility account information, and a copy of a utility bill or estimated usage at the new location, and they’ll check whether your new home qualifies.4Nexamp. What Happens if I Move
If you’re leaving the territory entirely, you need to cancel. Give Nexamp advance notice of your move-out date so the timing lines up with when they can submit changes to the utility. Waiting until the last minute lengthens the window where credits keep hitting your old account and you keep owing for them.
Autopay Does Not Stop Automatically
Canceling your subscription does not cancel autopay or One Bill. Autopay authorization stays in effect until you cancel it separately in writing, at least 15 days before your next billing date for the change to take hold that cycle.5Nexamp. Terms of Use
You’ll still owe for credits generated during the processing period, so stopping autopay only shifts those final invoices to manual payment. If you were on One Bill, where Nexamp paid your utility bill for you, ending that service means you go back to paying the utility directly. Watch the handoff so a utility payment doesn’t get missed.
Records to Keep
Hold on to these until the final invoice is paid and the solar credit line disappears from your utility bill:
- The cancellation confirmation email showing your request date and final production period.
- At least three months of utility statements after the request, so you can see when solar credits stop appearing.
- Every Nexamp invoice received after cancellation, matched against the credits on your utility statements for the same period.
- Receipts for every final payment, so no balance can resurface later.
If Something Goes Wrong
If you’re charged for credits outside your final production period, or the utility hasn’t removed you after the expected window, start with Nexamp support and reference your confirmation email and any prior ticket numbers.
If that doesn’t resolve it, your state’s public utility commission or public service commission handles complaints about utility billing and community solar. Most states offer an informal complaint process, where a counselor works with the company on your behalf, and a formal process if the informal one fails. The specific filing steps and timelines vary by state, so check your commission’s website for instructions.
