How to Cancel Your Pettable Subscription and Get a Refund

To cancel a Pettable subscription, email support@pettable.com and explicitly request termination of your entire ESA Letter Value Bundle Subscription, not just one component of it. Pettable’s terms require written cancellation, and the company will keep charging your card each month until it confirms the request in writing. A few details trip people up along the way, so it’s worth working through them before you send that email.

Confirm You Actually Have a Subscription

Pettable sells ESA letters two ways: as a one-time purchase or as part of a recurring plan called the ESA Letter Value Bundle. The bundle costs $14.99 per month and includes annual letter renewals, a 24/7 vet helpline, and member bonuses.1Pettable. ESA Bundle Many customers report not realizing they’d enrolled in the recurring option at checkout, because the bundle sits alongside the higher-priced one-time letter as the default.

Check your bank or card statements before doing anything else. A recurring $14.99 charge from Pettable means you have the subscription. A single charge in the $149 to $190 range means you bought the one-time letter and have nothing to cancel. The rest of this article assumes you have the recurring bundle.

Send a Written Cancellation Email

The primary cancellation method is email to support@pettable.com. Pettable’s terms of service state that to end the ESA Letter Value Bundle Subscription you must contact them at that address and “specifically request the termination of your entire ESA Letter Value Bundle Subscription.”2Pettable. Receptive Inc. Terms of Service That exact phrasing matters. Vague language gives support room to close only part of your plan.

Your email should include:

  • A subject line along the lines of “Cancel My ESA Letter Value Bundle Subscription,” plus any order number you have.
  • Your full name, the email address on your Pettable account, and a clear statement that you want to terminate the entire subscription and all associated recurring charges, including any veterinary services.
  • A copy of your original order confirmation, if you still have it.

Send it from the same email address you used to create your account. A different address means delays while support tries to match you to a record.

Phone and Support Portal as Alternatives

Pettable also offers phone support at 855-920-0323, available seven days a week from 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern.3Pettable. ESA Letters For Your Pet You can also submit a request through support.pettable.com. Either method creates a record, but email produces the cleanest paper trail.

Whatever channel you use, ask for written confirmation that the subscription is canceled and no further charges will be billed. Save it. If a phone agent only confirms verbally, follow up with an email summarizing the call, the date and time, and the agent’s name.

Cancel the Whole Bundle, Not Just One Piece

This is where cancellations most often go wrong. The Pettable bundle stacks multiple services together, and killing one does not kill the others. The terms state that “if you terminate one component of the ESA Letter Value Bundle Subscription, it shall not constitute termination of your entire ESA Letter Value Bundle Subscription unless you specifically request in writing” that the whole plan end.2Pettable. Receptive Inc. Terms of Service

The veterinary services piece is especially easy to miss. Even after you cancel your ESA letter services, the vet helpline keeps billing as a separate recurring charge until you cancel it on its own. The terms note that “termination of Services other than Veterinary Services does not automatically terminate Veterinary Services.”2Pettable. Receptive Inc. Terms of Service Spell out in your email that you want everything terminated: ESA letter services, veterinary services, and the entire bundle subscription.

When You Can Get a Refund

Pettable’s homepage advertises a “full refund if your letter doesn’t work” and “100% of your payment” back if you’re not approved.3Pettable. ESA Letters For Your Pet The terms of service are narrower. Refunds are available in three situations:

  • If the therapist determines you don’t qualify for an ESA letter, Pettable will refund your fees, but you must submit the rejection letter to support@pettable.com within 30 days of that determination.2Pettable. Receptive Inc. Terms of Service
  • If a landlord rejects your letter as invalid, Pettable may refund the telehealth and administrative fees, but first you have to file a complaint with HUD about the denial, provide proof of that filing, and submit documentation of the denial within 60 days.2Pettable. • If you bought a PSD training or academy course and are unhappy with the materials, you have 7 days from purchase to request a refund in writing.2Pettable. Receptive Inc. Terms of Service

Outside those three scenarios, the terms say you are not entitled to a refund. That covers changing your mind, not scheduling your appointment, or deciding not to follow through. Pettable has also stated in responses to consumer complaints that it cannot refund charges from previous billing cycles once processed. A $30 administrative fee may apply to certain cancellation and refund requests.

If Charges Continue After You Cancel

If you’ve confirmed cancellation and Pettable keeps billing, dispute the charges through your credit card company. The Fair Credit Billing Act gives you 60 days from the date of the billing statement containing the error to dispute it in writing with your card issuer.4Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 USC 1666 – Correction of Billing Errors The letter goes to the card issuer’s billing inquiries address, not the payment address, and should include your name, account number, the amount, and why the charge is an error. The issuer must acknowledge your letter within 30 days and resolve the dispute within 90 days.5Federal Trade Commission. Using Credit Cards and Disputing Charges

Most issuers also accept disputes online or by phone, which moves faster. Categorize the charge as a canceled recurring transaction. Your cancellation confirmation email from Pettable is the strongest evidence; if you never got one, your sent request still shows you tried to end the subscription. FCBA protections apply to credit cards. If you paid by debit card, your bank may still help, but the legal footing is weaker.

The FTC Click-to-Cancel Rule

The FTC finalized its click-to-cancel rule in October 2024, requiring any business that sells subscriptions to make cancellation as simple as signup.6Federal Trade Commission. Federal Trade Commission Announces Final Click-to-Cancel Rule Making It Easier for Consumers to End Recurring Subscriptions If you enrolled in Pettable online in a few clicks, they are required to give you a comparably straightforward way out, and to provide a mechanism that immediately stops charges.

If cancellation is unreasonably harder than signup, you can file a complaint with the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov. One complaint may not trigger action on its own, but the FTC uses complaint data to identify patterns.

Keep a Record of Everything

Save every piece of correspondence: your cancellation email, replies from support, screenshots of your account dashboard showing status, and bank statements from before and after your cancellation date. If things escalate to a chargeback or a regulatory complaint, timestamped records decide the outcome. Start documenting before you send the first email, not after.
