How to Cancel Your Preply Subscription and Get a Refund

To cancel a Preply subscription, open your Subscription Settings on the website or in the app, find the tutor whose plan you want to end, tap the three dots next to their name, and choose “Cancel Subscription” before your next 28-day renewal date. Each tutor is billed separately, so if you’re paying for more than one, you’ll need to repeat the steps for each. Prepaid lessons stay in your balance until the current cycle ends, and refunds are limited to a few specific situations.

Cancel on the Website

Go to your Subscription Settings page. Locate the tutor whose plan you want to stop and click the three dots (•••) next to their name. Select “Cancel Subscription,” then work through the short exit survey Preply presents before the final confirmation button.1Preply Help Center. After you confirm, the tutor’s status on your dashboard should switch to “Canceled,” and Preply sends a confirmation email. Keep that email. If a charge appears on your card after cancellation, it’s the cleanest proof you have.

Cancel in the Mobile App

The app uses a different menu path:

  • Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  • Scroll to “More Settings” and select it.
  • Swipe left to “Subscription” in the top bar.
  • Select the tutor whose subscription you want to cancel.
  • Tap the three dots (⋮) to open the options menu.
  • Tap “Cancel Subscription” and follow the remaining prompts.

The outcome matches the website: prepaid lessons stay in your balance, and no further charges hit after the current cycle closes.2Preply Help Center. How to Manage Your Subscription

What Happens to Your Unused Lessons

Canceling doesn’t wipe out lessons you’ve already paid for. Whatever’s left in your balance stays there through the end of the current 28-day cycle, and any lessons already on the calendar remain scheduled unless you cancel them yourself.1Preply Help Center. The catch is expiration. Unscheduled lessons don’t roll over past the cycle’s end date, and there’s no grace period. If you cancel on day 10, you have 18 days to book and use what’s left. Letting the balance sit unused is the most common way people leave money behind.

Move Your Balance to a Different Tutor

If you want to keep learning but not with this tutor, transferring your balance is usually better than letting it expire. From your “My Lessons” page, the balance section, or your subscription settings, select “Transfer balance or subscription.” A few options are available depending on your setup:3Preply Help Center. Transfer Lessons to Another Tutor or Start Learning With Someone New

  • Switch to a different tutor you’ve previously had a trial or subscription with. Your current subscription and scheduled lessons are canceled in the process.
  • Add an additional tutor, keeping your current subscription running while starting a second one with someone you’ve already learned with.
  • Transfer individual lessons between tutors where you hold active subscriptions with both.
  • Find a new tutor by booking a trial lesson with someone you haven’t worked with. You’ll need to complete the trial before starting a subscription.

If the new tutor’s rate is different, the number of lessons in your balance adjusts so the total dollar value stays the same. Any lesson starting within 12 hours can’t be canceled or transferred.3Preply Help Center. Transfer Lessons to Another Tutor or Start Learning With Someone New

Pause Instead if You’re Coming Back

If you’re stepping away temporarily rather than quitting, pausing keeps everything intact. You can pause for up to 20 days per billing cycle. You’re not charged during the pause, unused lessons stay in your balance, and the subscription resumes on the date you choose without needing to contact support.4Preply Help Center. When You Can Get a Refund

Preply’s default position is that service fees and applicable taxes are non-refundable. Anything granted outside the specific cases below is at Preply’s discretion.5Preply. Preply Refund and Payment Policy The cases where a refund is available:

  • A trial lesson that didn’t take place. You can request either a free trial with a different tutor or a refund, and the refund option runs for 90 days from the payment date.
  • Extra lessons purchased by Preply Business users, refundable on request within 90 days of purchase.
  • Missed or disputed lessons. If a lesson goes unconfirmed for 30 days with no issue reported, it’s returned to your balance. Same result if an issue is reported but not resolved within 30 days.

How to Request One

Email support@preply.com with the reason for your request and your tutor’s name. In-app chat isn’t the right channel; the policy specifically directs refund requests to that address.5Preply. Preply Refund and Payment Policy Preply states that refund decisions are made within 30 calendar days. Once approved, how long the money takes to land depends on your bank and any currency conversion involved.6Preply Help Center. How to Request a Refund on Preply

If you missed the 90-day window on a trial refund, you can still ask Preply to return the lessons to your account balance instead of getting cash back. Those returned lessons can then be scheduled with any tutor on the platform.5Preply. Preply Refund and Payment Policy

Deleting Your Account Is a Separate Step

Canceling a subscription stops future billing but leaves your Preply profile in place. To remove your account and personal data, go to Settings and click “Delete account,” then enter your email address to confirm. Enter it in all lowercase; the system is case-sensitive.7Preply Help Center. How to Delete the Profile

Deletion is permanent. Cancel any active subscriptions and use up your lesson balance first, because your lesson history, tutor connections, and any unused credits go with the account.
