To cancel a Scribe subscription, sign in to your workspace, open billing settings from your profile menu, and use the cancel option on your plan. That works if you subscribed on scribe.com. If you signed up through the App Store or Google Play, you have to cancel through that platform instead, because Scribe doesn’t control the billing. Whichever route applies, export any guides you want to keep before your paid period ends, since some export options disappear the moment your account drops to the free tier.
Cancel From Your Scribe Workspace
Log into your workspace and click your profile icon in the lower-left corner. Open billing settings, where your current plan and payment history are listed. Select the option to manage or change your plan, then follow the prompts to cancel. Scribe lets you cancel at any point during a billing period rather than forcing you to wait for the cycle to end.1Scribe Support Portal. Canceling or Reactivating Your Pro Subscription
Your Pro features stay active until the end of the period you’ve already paid for. There’s no partial-month refund, but you also don’t lose access the second you click cancel. When that paid period ends, the account reverts to the free Basic tier.1Scribe Support Portal. Canceling or Reactivating Your Pro Subscription
Watch for a confirmation email. Then log back into billing settings a few hours later and confirm the account shows a canceled or pending-cancellation status. If it still reads as active, something didn’t process, and you should contact support before your renewal date.
If You Subscribed Through Apple or Google
Scribe can’t stop billing for a subscription that runs through the App Store or Google Play. Cancel through the platform that charges you.
iPhone or iPad
Open Settings, tap your name at the top, and choose Subscriptions. Find Scribe and tap Cancel Subscription. If you’re on a free trial, Apple requires cancellation at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being billed for the first full cycle.2Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple If you were already charged for a renewal you didn’t want, you can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com; Apple decides these case by case.3Apple Support. Android
Open the Google Play app, tap your profile icon, and go to Payments & Subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Select Scribe and tap Cancel. Google Play subscriptions auto-renew at the start of each cycle, so cancel well before your renewal date to skip the next charge.4Google Play Help. Enterprise Plans Work Differently
If your organization is on a Scribe Enterprise agreement, the self-serve cancel button doesn’t apply. Enterprise contracts auto-renew for successive terms unless you give written notice at least 30 days before the next renewal date. Miss that window and you’re locked in for another term.5Scribe. Scribe Enterprise Master Services Agreement
Enterprise fees are non-refundable and non-cancelable except where the agreement says otherwise. To terminate early for a material breach, you have to give Scribe written notice of the breach and 30 days to cure it before walking away.5Scribe. Export Your Guides Before the Downgrade
This is the step people skip and later regret. While your Pro subscription is still active, you can export individual Scribes to PDF, Microsoft Word, HTML, or Markdown.6Scribe Support Portal. Exporting a Scribe to Markdown PDF export is a Pro and Enterprise feature specifically, so once you drop to the free tier, that option is gone.7Scribe Support Portal. Exporting a Scribe to PDF
There’s no bulk export. You have to download each guide one at a time, which gets tedious with a large workspace. Start well before your paid period runs out.
Your guides themselves aren’t deleted at the downgrade. Any Scribes or Pages you created on a Pro plan continue to exist afterward and keep whatever Pro-only formatting you applied. Branding and customization settings are the exception; those require an active Pro subscription to stay in place.8Scribe Support Portal. What Happens to My Documents After I Downgrade From Pro Plan
What You Lose on the Free Tier
Once your paid period ends, the account drops to Basic. You still get AI-powered automatic capture for web apps and can share guides via link, but several features Pro users lean on daily disappear:9Scribe. Pricing
- Desktop capture is no longer available; the desktop application is Pro and Enterprise only.
- Unlimited guide creation is removed, and the free tier caps how many you can make.
- Pages, Scribe’s multi-guide documents, can’t be created or edited.
- Advanced insights are replaced with basic analytics.
- Collaboration features drop out: no comments, version history, or multiple workspaces.
If you mostly use Scribe for quick web-app walkthroughs shared by link, Basic may cover you. If you rely on desktop capture or team collaboration, plan around losing them.
Canceling Is Not the Same as Deleting
Canceling stops future billing and drops you to the free tier. Your workspace, guides, and profile stay intact, and you can log back in, view your content, or resubscribe later. Deleting the account removes your profile and workspace data permanently. If you have an active Pro subscription, you have to cancel first and let the remaining paid time expire before deletion is possible.10Scribe Support Portal. Deleting Your Scribe Account If you’re leaving for good and want the data gone, delete. If you’re cutting cost and might come back, cancel and leave the account in place.
If the Cancel Button Doesn’t Work
When the online flow errors out, the billing page won’t load, or you’ve lost access to the account email, contact Scribe through their help center at support.scribehow.com. Use the Submit a Request form and include the email tied to your workspace. State clearly that you want to cancel and stop all future billing, and include the last four digits of the payment method on file so support can verify you. Keep a copy of everything you send. If a charge shows up later, that record is your proof that you asked to cancel first.
Your Federal Baseline Protections
Any online subscription is covered by the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act, which requires sellers using negative-option features to disclose all material terms before taking your payment information, obtain informed consent before charging you, and give you a simple way to stop recurring charges.11Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 USC 8403 – Negative Option Marketing on the Internet The FTC continues to enforce ROSCA against companies that bury cancellation options or make you jump through hurdles that weren’t part of signup.
